Just noticed this - I really like the idea of it actually! All valve in a small package. I'd love to try one out!

Yeah that does look cool. I wonder if a 30W valve head is enough on larger gigs with a loud band though...

I use a Rootmaster 800 evo with my Super Compact - usually with a Fender Jazz or Precision, sometimes flats sometimes rounds, always with a pick. Aways sounds great! (to my ears, anyway).
More than holds its own on backline only gigs, and DI'd or mic'd on the bigger gigs.
Cheers for the advce @FinnDave I'm going to see how I get on with one, and then potentially add another in the future.

If the TH500 sounded good to you with that cab then don't waste your time and money trying everything else.
This is my main thought. I'm likely going to try one tomorrow, and it'll take some persuasion otherwise to deter me from this. It just sounded bangin' with a P. Cut through the mix really nicely.

If there's nowt wrong with your back an old Trace Elliot head would sound fab. Trace amp and Supercompact my precise gigging rig for 3 or so years until my back got worse.
Yeah, I mean there's nothing wrong with it NOW, but maybe three years down the line... We gig a lot so ideally I'd like something with less weight to it.

R&B. Precision. Flats. Ampeg
Not a bad argument to be fair.

@foxyFuze Thanks for the fender recommendation, however I'm trying to get away from that having just upgraded from the Rumble. Never heard an 800 though.
@pbasspecial Cheers for the pics, some of those amps look really good together and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't also thinking about the aesthetic!
Thanks @Lozz196 I haven't heard of that Ashdown either. I'm swaying towards markbass for some reason, but time will tell. Maybe also because Michael League and Joe Dart use them too!

@acidbass Yes that's a good shout. Hopefully I'll be able to try one out this weekend. I've heard good things about the Ashdown CTM 100 if anybody has any experiences with this?

Thanks @jrixn1
I am not really much of a pedal guy. I have a small mono pedalboard on which lives a tuner, octave, compressor and sansamp DI and even then I don't use much of it. I don't need it to be super versatile really- just need it to do the warm fat flatwound thing really well, but I understand where you're coming from.

Thanks guys.
@Chris B I've heard a lot of good things about the Quilter BB800, but I think I'll have to try one myself before-hand, cheers for the offer.
I keep going back to the reason I bought this in the first place, when I played through one at a gig which was paired with an Aguilar TH500. Was really surprised at how good it sounded.
@gary mac That's ace! Thinking I'll try this solo for a while, see how I get on and then potentially add another cab if needed in the future.

Hank Marvin - really well known guitarist considering he spent most of his life in the shadows...

This has now sold.

I watched this on Saturday, all the way through. I thought it was excellent. I was a fan before this, and love Joe Dart's playing.
The camera work is impressive too, I found it really immersive. I felt like I was right there!
Excellent sign that a band like Vulf can play venues like MSG.
And Theo Katzman- what a voice!

3 Best: The Achievers at Bluefunk Poynton in September. BC's very own @Jack_Stroud_Bass on bass, winning the UK Blues Challenge by playing brilliantly. Also meeting @Raymondo
Thanks @Teebs We had a cracking night that night, and we can't wait to go and represent the UK at the International Blues Challenge in Jan. 2020 in Memphis, TN and Zaandam (Amsterdam) in the NL in April! Exciting times! And of course, nice to meet you too!

Oh nice, I'm thinking either Aguilar or Markbass for an amp head for mine.
Thanks for the comments, that sounds awesome. Can't wait to get mine in January :)
I went for the silver grill too! Prefer the more "classic" look.

@Merton What amp did you use with your BF SC and how did you find it please?
-
Lovley stuff- just bought a new BF SC myself (just the one). Will look out for yours in the for sale section!

Bump bump bump!

The dizzying heights of blues fame! Haha. I'll be getting too big for my boots soon and demanding freshly laundered pants and a glass of fine single-malt available before each gig

Just took full advantage of this and bought myself a Super Compact with silver grill cloth and cover. Hope it's here in time for Xmas!

I've recently been introduced to Meshell's music. I was blown away! Her playing is so distinctive! Talk aboutfunky, and so much space, so much attitude!
I've only got into the one album so far, Plantation Lullabies, but I'm hearing a lot of people saying Peace Beyond Passion is well worth a spin too.

Ah that is a shame. I'd offer to post, but I don't have any boxes or covers for this unfortunatley.
Good luck with the search.

Hello,
Here's the link to the one for sale in the ads. (Slightly biased as I'm the one selling!)
It's a great cabinet, Like @Muppet it has been paired with my rumble 500 combo for larger gigs, although no more than a handful.
I can't vouch for it's effectiveness on it's own in the pub environmets, but the rumble 500 has the same speaker set-up I believe and I've never had a problem being heard within my (5 piece) band.
If you need any more info, let me know!

NCD - Barefaced Super Compact
in Amps and Cabs
Posted
Hello,
If anyone's interested in the next chapter of this, I went to Bass Direct today and tried a few different heads to go with the Super Compact. Narrowed it down to three - Markbass Casa, Genzler Mag. 800 and the Markbass Little Mark Vintage.
I came home with the Little Mark Vintage!
Also this Strandberg was a laugh, great bass, but not for me!
