  2. FOR SALE: FULL BASS RIG: SWR 750X PRO BASS AMPLIFIER + GOLIATH III 4 x 10 CAB + SON OF BERTHA 1 x 15
    £900
    Stroud, Gloucestershire

Condition: This has been my main gigging amp/stack for 10+ years, so there are some signs of wear! This is cosmetic only & has zero effect on the sound quality. Comes with effects activator foot-switch and cased in a (slightly battered) 4u rack case.
Sound: Pure, un-adulterated SWR goodness. Particularly good for rock music and cutting through and over pesky guitar players.
Reason for selling: This amp is HEAVY. I've been advised by doctors not to go lifting heavy weights on account of some surgery a while back, and my band members are much too lazy to help 1f609.png&key=fe0cf4c435d2dcc1b8d025af2865ef3fc5f4c7f12c952480268f262c4f8f4d3e ;)
Item Location: Stroud, Glos. This is set up in a rehearsal room in Stroud, so feel free to try-buy-you-buy.
Cash on collection preferred. Not going to post/courier on account of just how large, heavy and cumbersome this thing is.
Happy to discuss meeting somewhere halfway to deliver it at buyer's expense though.
    .
As many of you BC's will know, SWR are no longer manufacturing amps. This one is set to be a future classic and becoming rarer all the time!
NOTE: I only have the one speak-on lead to connect 1 x cab, so if you want to try both, please bring either a speaker-jack or a speakon cable with you! Mine went walkies at the last gig...

  3. Hello Woodenshirt,

I used to be in a gigging covers band doing the rounds on the Haven/Butlins scene a few years ago. Did that from about 18-25. Had to call it a day as I could not face playing "Mustang Sally" one more time! Joking of course. Now focused on original tunes.

Much more of a funk/rock player, but I love playing with the prog band. The more music I can play the better I'll (hopefully) become.

SWR has been a constant for me through the years- it's the only bass rig I've ever used. It's never let me down, and with the active MM pre-amp it can deliver a huge sound! Very reliable gear, and versatile too with 2 x on-board effects (O/D and Sub-Oct).

@The Greek- No there surely is no cure from GAS! Although us low-enders really have it easier compard to some six-stringers that I know... Surely the tone is in the hands right?? ;)

  4. Hello,

    New member to BassChat!

28yrs old bass player from Swansea living in Stroud. Been playing for 14years. Currently in a Prog-Rock band called Midnight Sun based in Stroud/Forest of Dean- loving the challenges playing Prog Rock brings!

Only have the one bass, but main reason for joining is that I'm tentitivley on the lookout for a Fender 70s Jazz :)

I own/use an SWR bass rig (Son of Bertha 1 x 15 and Goliath III 4 x 10) with a SWR 750X head. Awesome sounds, very user friendly and great for rock tones!

Hope to get chatting to some fellow bass lovers soon!

    Jack
