  1. 06/07/22: SOLD. PLEASE REMOVE.

    FOR SALE: Markbass rig

    - 600W Little Mark III head

    - Traveller 102P cab on top

    - Traveller 115P cab below

It's all housed very satisfactorily in a trifibre hard case - so it's in pretty good nick. Case has wheels / castors so can easily move it around.

I am selling for what I bought it for in Nov. last year, so not open to offers thank you.

It's in Stroud, Glos set up at a rehearsal space. Bring your bass, have a play and I'll make the tea.

Reason for selling is we can't fit the whole thing and our PA in our small van. Gutted.

Trades? Well, I'd really like to try a Barefaced 4x10...

*22/06/22 - Edit - After being asked, I am only selling this as a whole rig / unit and won't split as it's all housed in the custom made case.

Please feel free to ask any questions.

Also for sale is the LM Vintage Head. Separate ad for that here

Fender precision bass not for sale.

    Thanks for looking.

Interesting reading Jack, curious as to why you chose this one over the two naturals - aside from its looks of course. Was it playability or sound that swung it?

Well, it was hard to compare sound as the two naturals had roundwounds, and the sunburst had flats.

I very much went with my gut feeling and didn't try and over-think it too much. As soon as I saw it, I preferred the look. Once I sat down to play it, it felt more comfortable and I was able to express myself a little better on it, like I wasn't fighting it.

Don't get me wrong, the others were fantastic instruments, but the sunburst just had something the others didn't.

Very nice indeed.  I usually associate 75 Jazz Bass RIs as being natural with maple and black blocks, nice to see such a good looking variation.  I have a Jazz with TI flats.....works for me!

Yes, me too. When I arranged the appointment with Will @ BassBros, I had full intentions of trying and buying one of the two natural 75 RIs he had in stock. There was a '03 and a '06 from memory, both maple and black blocks. When I arrived, this was there too. I tried it third after the two naturals and lo-and-behold this one was the one for me!

The flats work excellently for the music I play - blues, americana. What's more, the limitations imposed by the covers... Once you get used to them, they're not so bad to play around. I find my right hand in one of two positions- either between the bridge and neck cover, or thumb on the thumb rest at the neck position. It kinda forces you to play in a certain way. I'm enjoying the challenge!

Very nice, looks in mint condition too 👍

It's in amazing condition - the pics here are after a full setup and clean too, so it's very much in "presentation condition", unlike me... :D

  5. New bass day!

This is a 1975 USA American Vintage Re-Issue, made in 1999.

I don't really know too much about the specifications that they used to make basses to in 1975, all I know is that this one feels really, really good! It's got the classic bullet truss rod, three-bolt neck attachment, 70s pickup spacings, and finished in this lovely three tone sunburst with a rosewood neck and mother of pearl block inlays.

The best bass I ever played was a mid-70s jazz bass, and this one (whilst not 100% there) gets really close to the magic of the vintage one I played.

I bought it Sat, and immediately went and gigged it that night with the original band (The Achievers - R&B, Americana, Blues etc), and then last night with a function band at a wedding. Both excellent experiences!

Decent weight, nearly 5KG, so good but not compared to the originals. It's strung with flatwounds too! I know - curious for a jazz...

I got this from Will at Bass Bros on Saturday, and the service I received there was excellent - can't recommend them enough.

Pics below. Cheers for looking :)

  6. Morning.

Just wanted to drop a +1 review of BassBros on here. I bought a '75 AVRI jazz bass from Will on Saturday and the process couldn't have been better. Great communication throughout the week to arrange the appointment, and when I got there, the basses I had mentioned I was interested in were laid out ready to try through a really nice TC / Vanderklay rig.

Will was really kind, warm and accommodating, making cups of tea, having a proper chat about what we loved about jazz basses. I tried three different AVRIs out, two in natural and one in 3TSB, and I left a very happy customer having bought the latter - picture below :) I immediately went off a gigged it twice through the weekend, and I'm very happy with it!

Couldn't recommend BassBros enough to anybody wanting to purchase their next instrument.

    Nice one Will!

  7. Have a great time! My lot The Achievers just got back from a few shows over in the Netherlands last weekend, and it was fantastic. The Dutch hospitality is amazing.

Happy to help if you've got any questions on touring / carnet - shoot me a message and I'll rack my brains!

  8. PRICE DROPPED to £350.

FOR SALE: Markbass Little Mark Vintage.

This is NOT the D2 version.

This is my lovely Markbass Little Mark Vintage for sale. I am the only owner from new. I bought it new from Bass Direct in Feb. 2020. There's a link here to a comment I posted about it. Was going to get around to reviewing it, but never did.

This amp has probably done around 5 - 10 small UK gigs in the time I've had it, and been with me through once weekly rehearsals. I did have the excellent Dex at Dex Audio change out the pre-amp tube to another - there was a slight buzzing coming from it originally which is now sorted.

Markbass blurb / website info here.

    Reason for sale:

I prefer my LMIII, so this is sitting around not doing very much. Link to my new / old Markbass rig here. I mentioned within this post that I preferred the sound of the old one, and I still do! So, this one is going up for sale.

Comes with a Rok Sak bag, and the original box it came in when I bought it NEW from bass direct in the Feb. of 2020 (Back when we all though we'd be doing gigs...).

Price doesn't include postage, but happy to post at buyer's expense. Will package it up all nice and safe with full insurance, and will likely need signing for your end.

    Payment:

Preference is either cash on collection or bank transfer.

Item is located in Stroud, Glos. People are more than welcome to come around, have a cuppa, try it out and make an informed decision in a no-pressure environment.

I will upload a video shortly which shows the amp working. The amp is going through a markbass traveller 2 x 10 cabinet, and I'm using my EB Musicman StingRay which is strung with DR Pure Blues Roundwound strings.

    Offers:

No rush to sell, but happy to listen to any sensible offers.

    Trades:

    No, ta.

Any questions feel free to come at me and I will be more than happy to answer if I am able.

    Cheers-ta-nice-one,

    Jack
