1.
You have great taste in basses. I'll take the one on the right!!! Glad you got sorted. Cheers.
I do have an unhealthy obsession with Roadstars, luckily they're quite affordable
 2.
I'm ashamed to say that my Roadstar is in my loft......somewhere. A lovely blue burst with cream coloured bindings. I must dig it out.....but i'm very lazy :-/
That's cruel - I'm going to have to report you - cruelty to Roadstars isn't on lol
 3.
Great collection Megallica, really glad my bass went to someone who really wanted it.
Thanks Nic I just replaced the jack socket last night and I think I'll leave the refret for now.
 4.
Looks pretty decent for the money - shame someone's nailed that rubbish bridge cover on, hopefully the original cast Gotoh bridge is still underneath - although I do wonder if the cover would fit over it. Might be hiding a rusty BBOT someone's bunged on. These later Roadstar 2s don't seem to be as popular as the Blazers & Roadsters they replaced, not really sure why. Top quality Fujigen bass, either way. Jon.
I'm not sure why they aren't as desirable to the guitar/bass collecting community but they definately fetch less at auction, basschat, talkbass etc
 5. Looks nice, I'd be surprised if it sold for that much in an auction listing. Not that it isn't worth the money but these later (86ish) standard Roadstars never seem to sell for much. There was a red version of this bass that was on basschat for months maybe a couple of years ago now. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/195173-ibanez-roadstar-ii-sold/page__p__1941256__hl__ibanez%20roadstar__fromsearch__1#entry1941256
 6.
Just got myself both an active and a passive RB850, both black. Lovely basses
There was a black 850 on ebay last week, did you win that auction? Curious to find out if there is much difference tonally between the active and passive 850's? My 850 is being refinished at the moment, the sparkly red paint wasn't really doing it for me. Saying that, if I'd known how hard it was to remove the paint I think I would have learned to live with it.
 7. Congrats on the new bass - what were the recent song additions that made you think of buying a 5 string? I struggled reading tab for a five string bass when I began to play, so many years of practicing with a four string. One of the first songs I learned to play on a five string was "sledgehammer" by peter gabriel, then Van halen's "right now".
 8.
Beautiful basses. Does the blue one have gold hardware or is that just wishful thinking on my part? (Looking on my phone so can't zoom in!)
Yeah it was a gold finish but it's worn down to a coppery silver colour now. Would have looked like this 30 years ago
 9. Haven't really had a chance to photograph any of my recent purchases. So my RB924 has now been joined by an RB760, RB950 (thanks Nic) and RB850.
 10. I bought Nic's Roadstar bass - great guy, very knowledgable and highly recommended
 11.
That's not what John Entwistle or Jason Newstead have said, at least on occasion! The latter using black ones too.
Jason would ruin most basses from his acidic sweat - gross
 12.
A friend of mine had one of these in the 80s - quite heavy if I recall correctly...

Ibanez Roadster. Price seems about what they go for. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item35d2f90839
Looks nice but the pickup replacement should/would knock some value off I reckon.
 13.
There is that but who would buy warrior soul?
Yeah they kind of disappeared, I remember Kerrang building them up to be the next big thing and then slagging them off when they started getting recognition.
 14. What's the point? - record collectors paying for multiple copies of the same music. Picture discs don't sound as good as black vinyl and are designed to be looked at rather than listened too. I think I bought Iron Maiden's Bring your daughter to the slaughter picture disc before I had a turntable, because I liked the artwork. Live and learn, don't you?
 15.
I wasn't aware they were different things. To my knowledge there used to be only 3 Fortress models: Fortress One (or just Fortress) - PJ for 4-string JJ for 5 Fortress Masterman - twin J-pickups stuck together in a musicman stylee Fortress Flashback - lipstick pickups and a scratchplate I'm quite happy to be corrected tho...
This was my understanding of the Fortress range but I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination.
 16.
First off, I'll stick my hand up and admit that, although I've been a huge fan since the early 70's, some of the later stuff (e.g. brutal planet) I find to be too far away from his usual stuff and not to my taste. His live shows on the other hand a brilliant - great music, always great musicians and above all else ... FUN! Dennis Dunaway was one of my earliest influences alongside Squire and Entwhistle. His bass lines are always melodic and inventive - unusual considering the era they come from. Check out Gutter cat vs the Jets for a masterclass in double stopping. The aforementioned Halo of Flies should be on most bass players 'to learn' list.
I think gutter cats vs the jets was the first song I sat down and figured out the bass part to. Out of the more recent AC albums I've heard I quite enjoyed Dirty Diamonds. Some of the late 70's and early 80's albums are a bit eclectic but Alice's alchoholism was getting out of control which explains why.
 17.
In my experience the joy of desire is usually spoiled by the reality of acquisition and ownership.
Or as Lemmy said "the chase is better than the catch" Very true though
 18. Nice to see a lot of support for Dennis Dunnaway's bass playing. I always had a soft spot for the album 'from the inside' - kind of a concept album writen about a mental institute. I read that the band wanted to move away from the theatrical side of the Alice Cooper show where Vincent wanted to do more theatrics. The Trash era was okay but truly Desmond Child written big chorus stadium rock.
 19.
Updated Ibanez "family" picture. Left to right [with two exceptions] Ibanez: SR700 (-11) [top], RB850 (-87), RB960, RB760, MC924, AX50 (-85) [bottom],RB850, RB650 (-84), MC900 (-79), MC800 (-78).
beautiful what have you got your sights on next bjelkeman?
 20.
Music wise - I got a new gig bag ( a tool bag ) and a fabulous pink furry strap. Otherwise - some bastard bought me a book about cemetary design !! Can you believe it ?!! I took ungratefulness to new heights by telling them I thought it was a sh*t present and chucked it in the bin in front of them.
Thanks Dave, you've put my crap presents into perspective for me. Good call on the response too.
 21.
Introduced as the top of the range model, costing Y150,000. Earliest examples have serial numbers dating to '82, with production lasting over three years. Certainly less common than the likes of the 1000, but not the rarest of the Matsumoku era SBs, which makes me wonder about the quoted figure of five brought into the UK. I currently own three, two fretted and one fretless - two of which have been mine since the 80s. Quite recently, one BCer bought one (fretted) for circa £430 (including original APII branded hardcase), and another two have gone on eBay, the lowest for £403. Personally, I think you'd be lucky to get anywhere close to £600. Might even be pushing it at £500.
Lovely Aria bass, using ebay as a guage to the value of something can be a little misleading, I find. The quality of the pictures used, the location of the instrument, the sellers feedback, the postage options and the time of the month can all affect the price. For what it's worth, I sold my SBR-80 with a generic hard case for £560 on ebay earlier this year, would have liked to keep it but wasn't getting on with the slim neck. If it was my bass to sell I'd auction it on ebay with a realistic reserve. Good luck with your sale S&L.
 22. Nice Roadstar - it's an RB924, love these. http://www.ibanez.co...cat_id=84&now=3
 23. Hiya - lovely Roadstar, what's the nut width on this model? Thanks
 24.
Thanks megallica! I wasn't going to get a pbass, but when I saw this and the shape it is in. I couldn't resist. I am going to have to sell something soon at this rate. Wonder why I never find a good deal on something I already have?
Let us all know how it sounds/plays in comparison to your other Roadstars, heard lots of good things about the RB650.
 25.
And continuing on the red bass track, I happened to pick up this today. Apart from a few nearly invisible scuff marks it is nearly as new. Amazingly well preserved 30 year old. Ibanez Roadster II Bass Series RB650 (1984) by bjelkeman, on Flickr
Beautiful, bass in it's original hard shell case. Very jealous...... Love your collection Thomas
