1. Aria SB-R150, fretless This is the Rolls Royce of aria basses and pretty rare (I have yet to see another fretless model in this country). Slightly higher spec than the SB1000 range. Originally manufactured in 1983/84, I acquired it from the bass centre, Birmingham in 1991, trading a rare fender and a lot of cash for it. I played it for 4 or 5 songs live, once or twice a week for about 18 months before I quit playing live, it’s had a little light indoor use since, and is in extremely good condition with no marks or knocks visible to me, though there is wear to string board - which I can only see under camera flash. Zebrawood body with natural finish Maple through neck Ebony fretless board with fret markings on top edge of neck Solid brass machine heads, both gold plated. Two double coil pickups with active option (batteries concealed beneath rear plate) Master volume, master tone, 6 position attack mode rotary switch with toggle switch to engage active mode and LED running indicator. It plays beautifully with a lovely rich tone, fatter with active circuitry engaged. I love this girl and I am extremely reluctant to sell after more than 22 years together. But the truth is, I no longer play and need to raise cash. She sits in an SB1000 series case which is falling apart inside but I am happy to pass on the case as part of the deal. £850 ono collection from Preston £50 paypal deposit secures it. I'm happy to deliver anywhere north of stoke and south of hadrian's wall, If i get the full asking price. open to discussion of other arrangements. I only use this forum occasionally so if in doubt please message or email at [email protected]
2. once i have a handle on what its worth i will do
3. thanks guys. Noel - the figure of 5 related specifically to SBR-150 fretless - no idea how true it was though - i was talking to them about replacement pick ups for my elite at the time. I'm now wondering if i would raise as much cash selling my area pro 2 elite 2 in midnight blue. this gives me a starting point for the fretless though. from what you are all saying - sell it on ebay, reserve at 400, accept 500 and hope for more. does that sound about right?
4. I have an Aria pro II SB-R150 fretless generally as this spec: http://www.matsumoku.org/models/ariaproii/bass/sb/sb.html in good condition, fretless, through neck, brass bridge metalwork. active with a battery compartment to the rear. I picked it up from the bass place in Birmingham in the early 90's and stopped playing live in '94. it's in very decent condition and she plays beautifully, things being what they are, with a heavy heart, i'm contemplating sale. and here we come to the problem. When i talked to aria about another of my basses just after i bought this, i was given the impressionit was quite rare and that only 5 or so were ever imported into the country. at the time they told me I should insure it for £1,000 - that was over 20 years ago. I have seen it's little sister the sb1000 for sale for anywhere between £600 and £1000. Of course, just because they are for sale at that price, doesn't mean they will sell at that price. So how would I go about getting a value placed on her? Does anybody here collect Aria basses? could someone point me in the right direction?
