1. British manufacturer's first coated strings shipping from March 1st British string manufacturer, Rotosound, will be shipping its first ever coated strings as of March 1st. The string range, dubbed Nexus, will comprise seven sets initially for bass guitar, acoustic guitar and electric guitar. The bass strings are black polymer coated set over a Type 52 wrap, which, the company tells us, have a high energy with rich mid-tones and offer an alternative to steels with high presence. The gauges available will be 40, 60, 80 and 100, and 45, 65, 85 and 105. A single Low B (130) will also be available for five string bass players. The Nexus Acoustic sets are clear polymer coated wound, gold series plain strings with a phosphor bronze base that gives enriched highs and gentle mid-tones and come in three gauges: 10s, 11s and 12s. Lastly, the new Nexus electric range is also black polymer coating over nickel alloy that add a lot of warmth compared to conventional nickel strings. There are two sets available here: 9s and 10s.

 19.
I owned this from 1988 to about 1993 when I went all 5 stringy, sold to our guitarist, who suprisingly still has it, so I`ve borrowed it for a bit, not sure about the colour, bit 80`s, but the black hardware and ebony fingerboard do set it off well, and I do love a pointy headstock. I believe this cost me about £550 new, not that many made apparently. Has EMG pick ups, schaller hardware, still plays well. Wondered if anyone else has one similar? Cheers in advance.
I used to have one back in about 88.... was pearlescent white.... I see your in Essex.... you didn't happen to buy yours from Del's Music did you?
 20. You could pick up a 2nd hand Washburn Status for that sorta money.... great slap bass
 21.
But does your Status do a better impression of a toilet seat...?
You've lost me.....
 22.
My guitar player borrowed a pre Ernie Ball Stingray from a friend of his, hoping that I would love the sound and feel.I picked it up,plugged it in,noodled around for about 15 minutes, and was underwhelmed. My Status does everything that the 'ray does, but with a better neck! I'm sure legions of angry 'ray fans will call for my head on a plate, but this was proof that iconic basses are in the eye of the beholder.
+10000000000000000000000 I really can't see the point in vintage basses..... every one I've tried is either really average or extremely disappointing......
 23. Hi Matt Have you had any experience of comparison between the front versus rear ported cabs? Jay
 24. Excellent thread..... Picked up some great tips, thanks....
 25. One thing you do notice with old strings is the amount of volume you lose..... stick a new set on and you'll notice a big difference
