I know what you mean, Jay - I had a period with no S2's around & it just didn't feel right. Rob's comment about the piano-like tone is quite right, too. Nothing sounds quite like one. It is the evolution of the original Status bass as well, of course. After being at the O2 (Millenium Dome) Arena at the weekend with the Statii crew, Rob & Dawn, and meeting up with Mark King, hearing the new Mk-II bass, I have to admit to some KB MK-II GAS at the moment. Must resist... Must resist... Rich.
I know what you mean....... apart from the KBMK11 having one of those weird 'Head' contraptions..... quite like a 'proper' version.... maybe a 5 string... hmmm

Hnmmmm..... even though I never got on with the S2 Classic I had.... body shape not right for me..... I really am beginning to miss it....

May have been a dud string..... happens.... broken inner core or something similar
-
Strings vary quite a bit..... It's amazing how much more volume you get with new strings... I'd suggest changing the whole set as changing individual strings at a time will pretty much keep giving you different variations in volume and tone.
The cross-firing and upwards firing woofers would improve dispersion but the downwards facing woofer is a v bad idea and the internal volume is hopelessly compromised. Could work ok as a guitar 3x10" though. Alex
Didn't Trace Elliot do 3 x 10 version of this Idea? -
Records = Not too bad Live = Dire I should add that my judgement of "live" shows is based on what I've seen on telly. Steve
I think that applies to a lot of bands... never seen them live myself... though have seen Sting a few times in the past and that was spot on.... then again he does have a plethora of session guys backing him...

I use the double balls every time.... takes less than two mins to change a complete set.... also they feel better than the single balls for some reason.... tension wise that is.
So, XLR connectors then. Are they designed to work as a "stereo" connection (left/right/ground), or should one XLR connector only carry one channel. And what's the difference between balanced and unbalanced and in what applications should they be used? I'm not very bright.
I remember reading about sound limits a while ago on this forum, but we had our first experience of it on Sat night. Just getting set up, when the manager comes along and says you have to move one of the PA speaker as it is pointing towards the bar. Apparently, new regs last year state that noise behind the bar cannot exceed 80dB. Health & Safety at work and all that…..apparently he has been checked up on a few times to! On top of that, the police were hanging around all night, and gave him a couple of nods to keep the noise down. (Just to say we are not an overly loud band, by the way!). What a ridiculous situation. I can understand the point about the barstaff – that makes sense and personally I would not argue against it – but live music venues should really put a bit more thought into how to position a band, and not just “shove in the corner” attitude. What was pretty stupid on Sat night as we were loading back up at 12.30am, was that opposite us was a students residence apparently – clearly a party (or parties) were going on – loud music, shouting etc….and next to that, was a night club – pounding bass etc……so why pick on the pub? Bet the police and environmental health weren’t hounding the students and the night club “to turn it down”, were they! I would guess that if the 80dB level behind the bar is actively enforced, then there will be a fair few places simply giving up live music.
Well the Students wouldn't have a problem as the law in question is regarding noise in the workplace... so you can have your music loud as you want if it's a party..... as for the nightclub... most clubs are designed so that the noise level does not exceed the required level at the bar area..... on the dance floor is fine. As for the pub....... your right..... they never think about where they put the band and how that affects the workers
