1. So would a bass just need a bigger amplifier?
2. http://diy-fever.com/misc/diy-sustainer/ I am tech clueless. Would a beefy one of these work for bass? Have I just embarrassed myself?
3.
I know of someone who had a Sustainiac installed into his custom Shuker bass and it worked but he later had it removed.
Uh oh! Just a bog standard guitar sustainer pickup?
4.
Noticed a couple of dekos BZ-6000 http://www.thomann.d...000_nt_deko.htm 5 string fretless http://www.thomann.d...essive_deko.htm Can't say how long they've been up.
I had one of the BZ-6000 basses. It was a nice enough instrument but heavier than a small planet.
5. The festival is obviously being "run" by comedians. Utterly clueless.
6.
Good result there chaps! I'm very interested to know what you think of these ukes as they're very much on my GAS list at the moment. Owen, i may be wanting to pop by and see you when it arrives, if its convenient. I look forward to your reviews guys. Paul.
I will give you a nod when it appears. I have owned one before and the sound is sublime. The build quality is pretty rough but nothing half an hour with a sheet of sandpaper would not sort out. I am getting it for a friend but will try and arrange a time with you before I ship it off.
7. Taranis - Taran is Welsh for Thunder. Almost makes me want one just for that.
8. They are still selling them so I am guessing that even though I have ordered mine there are more there so my guess is that it has worked. Time will tell.
9. SCOOOOOOORE Thanks, I was waiting for a Uke again
10. Dinky lushness.
11. Yep, that has been my experience as well. I have installed a Fernandes Sustainer pickup into a Tele and that is lots of fun but I have always wanted the same facility on bass. This might be it, it might not.
12. That's what it looks like. I never got the ebow to do what I wanted it to. I am gambling that this will. Time will tell
13. It's no good, I have pledged and bought one. I will report back when it finally arrives.
14. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/38513516/wond-the-string-exciter-sustain-and-control-in-you Works on bass so they say in the blurb.
15.
I'm secretly a guitarist - don't hurt me.
Look, look everyone..... it's one of them........ let's vent ALL our frustration on this one! But to be serious, he is new round these parts but I will vouch for him as being totally sound. He will even courier it in the flight case I will lend him for the purpose. The case will need to be sent back obv, but that is cheaper than petrol. No one sells stuff when it is not courierable.
16. Galveston used to make a lovely looking gold metal flake topped bass. I seriously regret not buying one.
17. Would that we were all in a position for other people to be discussing our repertoire and chops. Mr Wolstenholme is laying it down in a situation that is the stuff of dreams for most of us. Who knows if he deps in a local trad band now and again or perhaps plays along to Latin vids on youtube? Maybe he has a P bass with flats on it just for the moments when he wants to play along with JJ? Who knows?
18. I have often fancied a REALLY thin bass. Now I know it is possible. Uh oh!
Rob Still makes them fretted! But he is busy. Here is my fretted 5 MB-2 with 33 scale
I asked him about a fretted Deep 5. Probably just as well because I could not afford one
20. The sensitivity knob does have a certain je ne sais quoi.
Oh boy, that's cool! With apologies for going off topic, what is it please?
Yep, sorry about the derail from Rob Allen goodness. You can read about it here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/104007-5-string-bass-ukulele/page__hl__bass%20uke. I would LOVE either a Deep 5 or a Mouse but would need them fretted. Mr Allen said no He does create lovely instruments.
22. I have some basses with luminlay. The one with a rosewood board is great but the one with maple neck and board is ........... not so great in daylight. I should have thought it through! I am subbing to this cos I love your builds.
Hmmm....I have just bought & am enjoying a £90 fret less bass uke. I can that this is where I will end up in a few years!
Perhaps here?
