Finished! A Guitar Bouzouki - (no basses were harmed in the...)
SpondonBassed replied to Andyjr1515's topic in Build Diaries
From here it looks like you've carpeted the inside to match your living room suite. How very co-ordinated of you. Heeheehee -
Eclectic. Have you discovered the delicacy known as Mushy Peas served with fish and Chips yet?

Welcome Cog.

Although I can't see the images, the story's a good 'un.

I have a big bag of walnuts that need cracking. What's your hourly rate? [Howling with laughter] Nobody can complain about a noisy cleavage if you're sat on it I suppose. Nautical but nifty enough. Sounds a bit like something @Bridgehouse might say. You'd best get your coat. You're surrounded by a lot of us old fellas you know. We try not to be bitter about our bottomly woes when whippersnappers remind us about them but there are limits. Heeheehee

ChangesTwoBowie (hiram.k.hackenbacker)

I've been fascinated by some of the composite videos that have been made by various musicians during the unpleasantness of lockdown. Your own band's NHS tribute cover of Heroes, for example, and The Immediate Family's Cruel Twist. They represent an interesting development in Music Video as an art form. You've got to keep your name out there and deliver something memorable these days more than ever before. Necessity is the mother of invention innit.- 81 replies

Um... can we still called it practising with headphones? It's more like practising with a bum woofer! You've got to be careful who you say that to.

I like the middle bit that looks like a 45rpm adaptor... ...but it will be concealed... ...beneath a tightened bottom. Priceless.

Beats sitting on the washing machine during the fast cycle then...? Nah seriously, I can dig it. I prefer to feel it in my chest but it may well help with headphone practice. I can't say I have a problem with just the B3 and a decent set of cans but then I haven't sat my can onto one of your devices to be able to judge. Re: The patent... are you sure the porn industry haven't already got rights on the idea?

Robin has passed on his East preamp to me for my parts drawer following an upgrade to his Overwater. He wouldn't accept any payment nor would he let me cover postage. It arrived as arranged. Proper packaging and safe as it left him. A really generous bloke. Not only... he's also offered me some nice tuning heads. This time though, I have to insist on covering the postage at the very least. Thanks Robin. Top bloke.

That sounded ambiguous. Sorry.

It would be an anti-climax if you didn't. I'm trying to visualise how your tenon saw is held in line. Have you a better image of your jig?

Lovely. Romulan green.

Welcome TK.

I agree with ^both^. You only need the side dots anyway. It's a lovely piece of timber.

Can you muster the skills needed to make it into a drinks cooler? -
A string clamp simply makes it possible to use single ball ended strings on a headless bass. https://headlessusa.com/jcustom-bass-combo-headpiece I bought the five string Steinberger Spirit XT25 (passive). It's not as well made as the old Hohner but it got me into fives. In retrospect I probably would have liked the detuner bridge on the Hohner better but mine's just the plain one.

We like clamps. It's okay. -
Welcome Simon. Has your B2A got an XLR out as well as the standard jack socket? If so, that will send a clean signal to the input device. I'm told that a lot of studios had these just for recording. For an active bass the output isn't huge, I agree. Did you check the volume trim pot in the pre? I can't imagine anyone wanting to reduce the output for a minute but it might be worth checking it out. Check your pickup heights too. Also, these respond particularly well to light gauge, piano wound strings. You might find it difficult to get piano wound now. If you do, you may need a string clamp because double ball ends add another highly specific requirement. When slap was a significant cult, they were plentiful though.

The suffering you have to go through on our behalf! So selfless. Heeheehee -
Welcome Matti.
