  1. Crikey Andy! With the angle that you took the photo from it looks like you've taken a tenon saw to it! I had to double check to see it was a scraper.
  2. Glamping? During a lockdown??!!?? Heeheehee no seriously... We get you. Getting the alignment is not the problem, keeping it is. As mentioned clamping in one direction alone does not guarantee that movement will not occur before the bond goes off. If this was easy, you wouldn't be enjoying it so much. This IS a cracking thread. It's good to see someone challenge themselves with due consideration of the alternatives. Respect.
  3. Welcome Julfam.
  4. ...or a dry fish.
  5. Welcome (again) Here are the same links as on your status page:
  6. Welcome Saxa.
  7. I think you may have meant this for the OP.
  8. I know. They're not exactly sophisticated bass lines but they'll be a real test of my stamina. Getting that much drive into my groove may prove a challenge but it's definitely one worth tackling. It's harder than it looks.
  9. I've already saved some YT bass clips for some of The Top's back catalogue.
  10. Excellent. Sorry but all my reactions are spent for the day. I blame the DoI thread.
  11. Summer equinox in little over a month from now. It's later than you think.
  12. Can he do a Texas accent? (No more TLRTs)
  13. Call me in about a year with a view to joining my ZZ Top tribute band then.
  14. Do you remember that wet feeling even though your face was dry? It must be because the air is getting to the skin where it could not before. I kept having to double check. Like yourself, it didn't last long.
  15. All the more reason not to remove any wood near the nut.
  16. Good work. I'm surprised how thick the fretboard seems to be.
  17. I think we'd let you off seeing as you've put up a bass build already. It hasn't stopped @Andyjr1515.
  18. and even then... it's a guitar!
  19. It's not a colour scheme that works for me but it does look the business.
  20. It might be wisest not to remove any wood in this area. The clearance hole and access point for the truss rod already weakens the neck. As far as I know you can't reinforce it with a volute after either.
  21. No apologies necessary. I was pulling your leg to some extent. You will find that pickguards can be more controversial than you'd ever imagined all the same.
  22. Welcome Mark. "Tort"... oh boy. You might have opened up a small can of worms. Let's just be thankful you aren't asking whether to refinish in a red or a brown burst. Heeheehee. PS: None of my basses have pickguards so I can't really express an opinion.
  23. Stubborn determination mainly. Just keep in mind how good it will feel when it's long enough for the wind to catch it.
