  1. I wanted a way to have the ends of the frets inboard of the fretboard edge slightly as opposed to flush with them. It could work well. Cheers.
  2. It doesn't mean you can't use it over a recorded track with attenuated bass when you've played through a couple of times.
  3. I'm no slave to the stave myself. TAB me up spotty!
  4. Have you tried doing a search for 'isolated bass'?
  5. Before the Internet, we used to call folk like that bar room orators. You know, like the bloke down the pub that knows more than everyone else but won't buy a round of drinks because he's on unemployment benefit...? It's all talk on their part. You have actually made something.
  6. Welcome Devon. I think you answered your own question in your second last paragraph. You aren't the only one. Although you ask for guidance, no-one can decide for you. As you know, until you are playing with others, you are at a loose end. The best I can offer is for you to have a go at as many genres as you can comfortably stomach. Playing is a different experience from listening and you may get value from genres that you might otherwise overlook.
  7. I feel for you mate. If I wasn't surrounded by my family's junk I'd have loved to help (I'd have a DB as well). BobTheDog's suggestion is a good 'un if there are no takers. All the best.
  8. Yes. Getting your ear in takes a little time but it comes with perseverance. Taking breaks is quite important too. If you cram, your brain doesn't have time to digest quite as well as it might and you don't get enjoyment out of it. If you aren't enjoying it, it shows.
  9. It needs saying that your rhythmic contribution can help a lot. People will forgive a few ill chosen notes from time to time as long as you can keep the drive in your playing. As Nail Soup says, looking at the guitarist's fretboard helps identify chords.
  10. Welcome DJ.
  11. On a hand it would look weird to have three fingers on one side and two thumbs on the other. No. It doesn't irritate me.
  12. I have one of these for little jobs like that. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07WM26KSF?tag=duc08-21&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1
  13. Yes. We saw how hard you tried to talk yourself out of it. Heeheehee. Fill your boots.
  14. It certainly looks fair from this distance. Well worth the extra effort to repair the finish I'd say.
  15. Not until he's done the NBD post with mood lit photos he isn't. Heeheehee
  16. Abe Jr is world class too. He is Maccer's drummer.
  17. Sounds like the makings of a good thread...
  18. Surely a long term member such as yourself knows better than to expect any help with resisting GAS? Where do you think you are? A monastery?
  19. You only have yourself to blame, it's from the link you posted.
  20. From Hohner - Historical Guitar Models '1 single coil J-style + 1 single coil split P-style; vol/vol/tone/tone; bolt on maple neck with rosewood fingerboard; 863mm scale; 24 nickel silver frets; solid alder body; gold hardware; colour: metallic red, royal blue' If you can send images of the controls and wiring as they are now including the new pot and with the info above, I think it is possible for some of our resident gurus to piece together a wiring diagram for you. Failing that: BCers Prepared to HelpFix a Bass. Welcome to the forum.
  21. Nicely done Si. My neighbour is knocking out nest boxes for birds among other things. I've managed to liberate some of his old stock of timber for my long term build as he needed the space tidying up to go into production, so to speak. Having retired relatively recently and then the lockdown it's kept him sane. I can see this thread having legs. Especially if you make another three equally clever ones.
  22. Pretty. I like the brass and copper but I'd have to go for stainless if I was gigging. My sweat is fairly corrosive.
