Yew-topped SG-style Guitar * Finished Pics!
SpondonBassed replied to Andyjr1515's topic in Build Diaries
One way to do it is to select "Quote", copy all of that including the headings then toddle over to the famous quotes thread, select "Reply to this topic..." and paste the entire quote in the text box. Other methods are available such as copying the time stamp from the individual post. It's usually in the form of "Posted March 29th or Posted 1 hour ago" at the start of the post you want. Copy it then paste it into the "Reply to this thread" textbox in Famous Quotes and the forum should lift the content for you. Failing that, the Mods are usually happy to help or even do it for you. -

Was it supposed to end up with you owning a turnip of your very own somewhere in the countryside? -
That answers the question I would have asked then. Which was: Is it going begging? I may have a preamp incoming when the restrictions are eased that I haven't sourced a body or neck for yet and I might be able to make a comfortable new home for it... If you have ideas already that's cool. It's not like I'm in need or owt.

A little bumpette, if I may... The OP's query is still an issue for me. I see guests have commented in the notifications I get but I can't see those comments. Is it fixed yet?

Good one. Thinking about the next one as well. Splendid. I like the colour and the headstock face does look well in contrast to the neck. A Teebseye twelfth fret inlay would be the icing on the cake, especially if you can get LEDs for the pupils.

Short Scale 'Thing' (was going to be 23" but ended up 27"...)

It's said he didn't need to bathe either... -
Is it on the Basschat 'bike thread? Ex 'biker wants to know.

Welcome Eldon.

Cool. What caught my eye though was this:

No pain, no gain. No sandpaper no pain. Er... What was the question again? Heeheehee. Now you're living it. If you can keep your plan and your patience the pay-off is nearly always worth it. You WILL be thinking about how to go about the next one towards the end too. Just in case you weren't warned.

I wouldn't touch that one with a ten foot barge-pun. -

I'd love to get a sneaky look into the future to see what other stuff you have surplus. At the rate you're working just lately it's likely to be a little treasure trove. Thanks for the info on hardware. £250 for the ABM unit tuners and headpiece or £150 for the Nova system. It's really not as bad as I thought. -

I'm going to need a headless mutli-scale system in the near future... yikes. -
I've got an itch to scratch. It breaks down into several sub-itches. I want to do a scratch build I want to own a multi-scale five string bass I want the B to be 34 inch and the G 32inch I want LED side markers I've got enough Sapele left from another project to put towards a headless neck-through I have a hefty chunk of white timber to identify from a kind neighbour who's done the lockdown garage-reshuffle I've been promised a rather nice pre-amp from a kind member I've got an onboard headphone practice module with Aux-in and Phones out. Thanks Owen. I've got a test bed for pups and electronics in the form of a bass I built from a kit a couple of years ago I'm bored It's a start and being honest with myself, it could take as long as @owen's project. I welcome opinions and discussion in order to draw out my ideas. Then I can make a plan. This supersedes the idea of a "dream bass" that I previously wrote about. That one was highly impractical and employed unnecessarily exotic notions such as a white enamelled mild steel fingerboard and gold plated hardware on a gold-leaf flecked white body... I'd have had to come on stage playing it from the saddle of a snow-white unicorn for the full effect to be realised because otherwise - I am just not pretty enough to carry it off. This one is more about the sound it's going to make than how it looks.

Welcome Matt. (That looks like an insult... not my intention of course.)

I see 24 frets, a zero fret and an extra one the other side of a bend well. That looks lovely. We must know more!
