Of course, you don't have to use all on tap... but, really..900watts..!!![/quote] But there's compact and light cabs that are comfortable to carry like that - i could quite easily carry a pair of Schroeder 1212l cabs like that for instance. I actually agree about 900w being a bit of overkill but hey, it's headroom - as bass players we love headroom! I get on fine with the LMII/1212r rig down there \/ but extra power is always handy. I imagine it would be a great match for cabs which need a lot of juice too.

They're shifting the standard Corvettes over to Korea and releasing some Korean versions of sig basses, as you've found! The Rockbass range is brought up to spec and are now lovely to look at, much like a German Warwick in fact. As with the last lot of Rockbass 'Vettes, there are different price brackets (Basic, Premium etc.) Shame the prices aren't lower though.

Compare it to a big old Ampeg in a flightcase which is a two hand carry - so it'll save you a trip. My Schroeder is a one hand carry and it does big gigs on it's own with a 500w amp, loads of people gig with a single compact etc. Imagine - bass in gigbag, head in laptop bag, leads in shoulder bag, one lightweight cab (2x12 etc.) in each hand - one trip from car to stage and you've got a loud as hell rig!

I've nicknamed the Strat the Lollercaster as when my mate was opening it he cut his hand open (don't know how but he did!) so he has a new guitar he can't physically play and has missed practice this week!

This is just down the road from me, the seller has previously sold other butchered novelty tat on eBay which has been flagged up here before. He seems to have a habit of acquiring cheap instruments, ruining them and selling them as "one offs" even though they are barely usable.

One thing i would say about Warmoth necks is that they can be heavy (they have steel support rods in them) and might change the balance of the bass for the worse. This wasn't an issue on mine as the body was a hefty chunk of mahogany but it might affect the VMJ. Also it felt a lot chunkier than what i'd call "Jazz width", i think that's quite a common complaint with the Warmoth J necks/. Another thing - the blocks on the maple necked VMJ are stick on ones IIRC which may explain their appearance.

They're not my favourite nylons but they are nice and not too pricey. They are thick due to the nylon coating but not especially high tension, the thickness may be a problem on the SR basses as they're string through and the bridge may not accomodate them. Also the ferrules on those basses might be too small (i think someone has already had this problem) - they're easily replaced though. I had to modify my acoustic bass at the bridge to accept these strings - it's a problem common with most nylon coated strings though. EDIT: Another thing - you may need to modify the nut slots for these strings. I just bought another nut to use with them as they're cheap enough.

The quality of the body and neck on my old Warmoth J was head and shoulders above pretty much every Fender style bass i've seen. The wood (Walnut and Pau Ferro) was stunningly figured and faultless. I got it used for a very good price and sold it for even less (£360) so they do lose a lot of value. It's new owner described it as "a work of art". Warmoth isn't the cheapest route to go down but the quality is assured - it's really great stuff.

Another thing i don't understand is people who buy kittens from pet shops. Why the hell do people still encourage kitten "farming"? Most animal sanctuaries have kittens as they get pregnant female cats dumped on them. When we went to get Mrs. Lemmywinks' cat they had pens full of kittens - all needing a home. A big pen with about 20 tabby kittens in it all meowing and climbing the mesh to get to you is probably the cutest thing imaginable! Both of our moggies were in need of a home and we were only too glad to take them, especially my little tortie as she's a total idiot.

Well, it's different... Can't help thiking he could have made 2 really nice basses from all that wood though. Tempted to message him and ask if there's any neck dive!

I tried a set on my acoustic when Stringbusters first started stocking them (they were dirt cheap back then!). Very long lasting and durable like most black nylons, i preferred them to the Rotos and they were cheaper at the time. I see they're quite pricey nowadays though!

Might be worth making sure it's not a structural thing. I had a rear panel on my old Hartke VX215 work loose which caused distortion, 30 mins with a drill and a pack of screws sorted it out. Try getting someone else to play your bass while you put pressure on different parts of the cab to see if that's the problem. When it happened to me it sounded very much like speaker distortion (Lemmy style) so i was chuffed when it was such a cheap repair!

I have it at the end of a very small signal chain (Tuner>Mastotron>M80) so it get my full signal going to the FOH. If my amp fails then no worries, still have bass!

If an amp doesn't have a Speakon connection it'd make me thing twice about buying it. I really don't see why 1/4" are still used as speaker cables, speakons are a much better alternative. On a similar note i got a call from my keys player the other week who'd carelessly plugged a random cable into one of the sockets of his newly acquired synth - apparently it made a nice burning/melty smell and his synth doesn't work any more!
