Trying to sell gear on FB marketplace is torturous. I swear people get a kick out of wasting your time.

I had one guy with mutual friends message me last week saying he was in London for the night and was currently on a night out, so asked if he could grab the pedal in the morning/when he gets home depending on time. He was so enthusiastic about the arrangement he went as far as saying: "this is almost like fate!"... Of course, I never heard from him again after that evening. Makes me laugh what rubbish they come out with at times.

@skej21 Ridiculous lol. My main problem at the minute is people messaging me "Can I collect today please?" and then not even reading my reply for 24 hours... and then asking the same thing the next day... Tiresome.

How do I go about changing my user name?

@Woodinblack well yes, my point was that he has a profile pic directly referencing the film.

All these years I thought that Sterling was a budget line from Musicman, like Sub.. rather than a model of bass...

I'm not sure what's worse, trying to remember a song that you haven't played for over a year, or trying to work out a new song that you've never played.

Music shops near London that sell speaker cables (not the bigger ones, the ones with tips like instrument cables)? Neither BassGallery or any Denmark Street shops have any listed. Andertons do, but its a bit further out
(Can't call anywhere as my phone is out of action until tomorrow)

Is anywhere doing pedal repairs at the moment? The person I've used previously isn't responding to emails.

@The Greek I haven't, I'll give him an email. Thanks!

Continuity announcer on C5 has just described Home Alone as "the greatest Xmas movie ever made". I can't decide if that's complete boIIocks or complete and utter boIIocks.

After months of mucking about on guitar because it was more interesting, I picked up one of my basses this evening and played. It was so much more satisfying. I'll always be a bass player.

How long do Fender typically keep models in production?
I'm really interested in getting hold of a ultra jazz bass V in mocha burst in the next year or so but not sure if they'll still be manufacturing them.-
@ead unfortunate but true. I remember my mate had a MIM jazz when we were younger and it was a great bass, but I got one recently and didn't like it at all. Ended up trading it.

What's the deal with 18V preamps, that just seems a total annoyance

I've been playing for 11 years now, mostly self taught and I know a fair bit of theory but I've never actually sat down and learnt scales/modes etc and it's about time I think. Got a friend who's a pro bass player helping me out but any advice/suggestions/resources would be appreciated!
-
@Reggaebass oh that reminds me I have lots of similar books here that were given to me back when I started (I was a stubborn teenager and didn't want to learn scales/modes sigh) but better late than never!
Thanks for the suggestion

@RichOoh I've heard good things, and was actually looking at the natural finish version of this. Good price and looks gorgeous. Might hold out for a Fender of a similar price (the one that sold was a 2nd hand 5 string Jazz). May have found one...

Hello. Is there any studio/sideman bass player here?
I want to ask what producers and engineers want from bass players today. I mean which basses, amps, effects and all king of gear is a must for session/studio player to provide the best demanding sounds and effortless quality in the stage/studio? Really need to change my gear to be most versatile for any scenario as possible. Many thanks!

Is it not against the rules to post an item for sale on here asking for the buyer to send money through Paypal Friends & Family? If not, it should be!! I see at least 1 scammer get called out on Facebook per week and it's ALWAYS because the buyer sent payment through F&F.
