    What's the deal with 18V preamps, that just seems a total annoyance :/

      OH! I've not personally come across an 18v built-in preamp, my Stingray is 9v.

      What's the annoyance? A lot of preamps (and compressors like the cali76) have to be/can be powered up to 18v to allow for more headroom. A lot of power bricks can give a range of voltages from 9-18 so it's no big hassle really.

    I've been playing for 11 years now, mostly self taught and I know a fair bit of theory but I've never actually sat down and learnt scales/modes etc and it's about time I think. Got a friend who's a pro bass player helping me out but any advice/suggestions/resources would be appreciated!

      Oh no of course, I just haven't bought a bass for almost 9 years now and I've been playing a Musicman for that time and have always wanted a Fender since I started playing :) But I'll definitely not write off the Sire!

      @RichOoh I've heard good things, and was actually looking at the natural finish version of this. Good price and looks gorgeous. Might hold out for a Fender of a similar price (the one that sold was a 2nd hand 5 string Jazz). May have found one...

    Hello. Is there any studio/sideman bass player here? ;) I want to ask what producers and engineers want from bass players today. I mean which basses, amps, effects and all king of gear is a must for session/studio player to provide the best demanding sounds and effortless quality in the stage/studio? Really need to change my gear to be most versatile for any scenario as possible. Many thanks!

      Have a look at Dishan Abrahams, and the video he did with That Pedal Show. Super interesting video, gives a general insight into some of this stuff and the gear he uses and how he gets around certain situations (such as synth/keyboard sounds, he sometimes uses a Moog Lil Phatty but often pedals)

    Is it not against the rules to post an item for sale on here asking for the buyer to send money through Paypal Friends & Family? If not, it should be!! I see at least 1 scammer get called out on Facebook per week and it's ALWAYS because the buyer sent payment through F&F.

      Fair enough.. I'm just sceptical as, while I've sold plenty on here, I've only really bought off of FB groups where F&F is banned and for good reason (the constant scamming I mentioned).
