Like you I hankered for one of these. I found one at a reasonable price bought and played it for a couple of years but was disappointed with it. It got traded. I hope you enjoy it more than I did.
Sorry to hear of your assault and injury. I can only suggest the Hofner Violin bass which was the lightest I’ve ever had. I can’t remember the exact weight, no doubt someone on here who still has one can tell us.
Look for something 2nd hand for your first bass then if you don’t take to it you can sell it on without a huge loss. Given your list of styles think about one of Spector’s Korean models, great value, really versatile and reasonable.
Just come off a cruise to Alaska where one of the bands was an all girl group from Argentina- the Shelleys. They played some good jazz and Latin style music.
I tried to download my video but it’s too large a file.
I don’t know whether a headstock should rock, I like Fenders, got most things right, straight away, but it shouldn’t cause the neck to droop and be tasteful. I think this is pretty good.
If I remember correctly, a Ric is a shorter scale than a long scale Fender. An odd 33” springs to mind, but no doubt Ricky fans here will correct me. But aren’t they generally a lot heavier than your average P?
I like the look of this, never thought the scratch plate on the Stingray 5 did anything for its looks. Like the majority (?) here I have generally abandoned hard cases, they don’t fit the front seat of my tiny car (DS3).
