  1. You say a retailer can't be expected to do basic setups and then extol the virtues of a retailer who actually made an effort as a comparison?
  2. Wow, surely the instrument not being set up after being built in an entirely different climate and having spent however long being shipped in a crate from China is not a QC problem and rather the fault of the retailer?
  3. Is that the bass version of the guitar King Buzzo plays? I can't remember the name of them, American something sonething. edit -> Electrical Guitar Company https://www.electricalguitarcompany.com/models/
  4. I found out years later it was a butchered Manfred Mann song. They were tasty bars, too.
  5. Knowing the type of tone you're after now, I would say just buy one of those Ibanez. You're going to spend a lot of money hacking up that lovely Streamer and not end up with the sound you're looking for, it's just not that kind of bass. Keep an eye out for a second hand Ibanez and spare the Streamer.
  6. Q-Tuners might be along the lines of what you're looking for, in the sense that they provide a very flat, very clear wide-frequency band tone. I have first generation set in a bass for the last 15 years or so. Mine are big dual coil units but they do make a J sized model. https://www.q-tuner.com/about/
  7. The worst gig I ever attended was Ian Brown, shortly after his first solo album came out. He wouldn't play any Roses material, so this wretched performance was essentially his one album (not a good album) plus a bad cover of Thriller... played twice.
  8. I think the answer to this is probably Smashing Pumpkins who, depending on Billy's mood, might power through a set of music which never even appeared on albums, never mind not playing the hits 😂
  9. Sweet, with the old headstock too. I assume that's a limited thing?
  10. I find it hard to watch. Staley is in a bad way there and knowing how utterly horrific the time he had left would be, it's easier to listen to the CD than look at the video.
  11. This lad was a poet
  12. One of his other ads is a short-scale headless Squier Jazz?
  13. The Kula Shaker version is being used on an ad at the moment. Couldn't tell you what the ad was for, but it was certainly Crispian and co.
  14. When Hush is used, it's usually Kula Shaker's version.
  15. Fuh kennel. A paw man's Setter Precision
  16. I would really like to have picked up a SSS model, love that shape.
  17. Lars and James still had to share the same space as Jason, even though they couldn't hear him.
  18. Deen Town is Woody's work, is it not?
  19. Very nice! Did you notice much of a difference between the Levinson and Sadowsky pickups? I like the Levinsons but, without the dummy coil, there is no hum-cancelling. I'll live with it for now and see how much of an issue it turns out to be (or try to figure out a way to wire it in).
  20. Exactly. It's not like Paranoid where they didn't actually know what the word meant 😂
  21. Picture the scene, you're playing The Chain at the start of your village's Formula 1 Appreciation Society weekly meeting and you get to the big breakdown. You're playing a regular acoustic, what happens next? Nothing, other than you bringing shame upon the entire village and the meeting starts on a massive downer. That's what. With this, you flip it over and it's GO GO GO! Not all heroes wear capes.
  22. Or for defusing those awkward campfire moments when some thoughtless deviant says "Well, someone needs to be the bass player!"
