Am I doomed ?
My bass has 6 strings and no frets, I like to play loads of notes, double stops and chords, I like to solo, I play very often on the dusty end and I am 182 cm tall.
So I'm a bad bass player with the good height. 😎
Here is my 32 inches scale translucent blue Alembic Elan IV, but I won't keep it. I'm definitely a 34 inches scale (6 strings fretless) bass player. And it looks like a banjo on me. 🤣
You can also have a 2 frets neck extension. No big hassle with a shorter than short scale.
I've had a few neck made by Christophe LEDUC to some exact specifications with Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and the cost was around 500 Euros.
I think this is the higher end of the cost bracket and one of these necks was a replacement for an original 1969 Ampeg Dan Armstrong See-Through guitar (a bit shorter scale than yours and with 6 tuners holes, but also 24 stainless steel frets).
I know some luthiers that could make it for half the price, but not with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard.
So between 250 and 500 Euros is a good guess.
