  1. Maruszczyk and Messinger have their own affordable custom shop. Here is their configurator : https://www.public-peace.de/custom-shop Don't forget to check the luthiers, they are not always ultra expensive.
  2. @k-sad has one IIRC.
  3. And the original American MusicMan SUB's were passive.
  4. Here's all you can get by Thomann, use their filters... https://www.thomann.de/gb/misc_4_string_basses.html?feature-45023[]=H&feature-8509[]=Passive&oa=pra&gk=GIEBS4&filter=true And short scale basses too : https://www.thomann.de/gb/short_scale_basses.html?feature-45072[]=H&feature-45072[]=J&feature-45072[]=S&feature-45073[]=Passive&oa=pra&gk=GIEBSC&filter=true
  5. MusicMan SUB or OLP. And many luthiers basses.
  6. @Clarky is right, it's chrome hardware on both basses, so maybe it's Alan Davey's former Ric.
  7. Download this, it's a kind of bass wiring bible, it's in German, but the diagrams are universal : http://www.ak-line.com/medium/Bassschaltungen.pdf
  8. No, it's not, the Dual series are dual channels (or twin channels) with mono output, so here a 1400 Watts output under 4 Ohms. https://www.grbass.com/portfolio/dual-1400/
  9. Following too. Hey Nick, remember that Brian May's home made guitar has an oak neck, which is supposed to be a sonically dead wood, so we might have another good surprise here with Ben's build.

    What happened?

I found an old photo of my (El) Maya taken in November 1985 as an exercise for an imaginary album cover. Now calling @Bassassin to tell us exactly what model it was.
  11. Do you still have windows and doors ?
  12. Why did I sell my Wal for peanuts in the 90's, why, oh, why ? 🤦‍♂️ Just as @dyerseve, I usually don't like black basses and fivers, but this one is just haunting, and not only me, apparently. GLWYFS.
  13. The LED's are really powerful, don't stare at them, Russ. That's the only "grief" I could find, the rest is excellent and the tuner is useable with a sixer, even if a bit slow compared to a Peterson or a TC Electronic, but nothing to really worry about. You will love this head, for sure !
  14. The Boss GT-1B ticks all the boxes and is cheap : https://www.thomann.de/gb/boss_gt_1b_bass_multi_fx_pedal.htm That said, if you don't need an expression pedal and that you can forget the headphones out, these 3 other "strips" can be what you're looking for : Valeton Dapper Bass Effect Strip : https://www.thomann.de/gb/valeton_dapper_bass_effect_strip.htm Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig V2 : https://www.thomann.de/gb/tech_21_bass_fly_rig_v2.htm TC Electronic Plethora X5 : https://www.thomann.de/gb/tc_electronic_plethora_x5.htm But as others said, keeping the Headrush and explore it might be the best idea.
  15. Thanks @ianrendall : I found that my Aria Diamond bought in the 80's was called the 1930. I binned it in the 90's, but still have the tailpiece with the wooden insert and the mother of toilet seat diamond on it. 🤦‍♂️
  16. I prefer the Glue Monday.
  17. The strings changing is really fast and clever on the Le Fay as it's a self locking system (without any locking device). Check this : That said, on the Bogart basses, the tuning keys are used as a locking device, which is very clever too. 😉
  18. I think they need one of my packing masterclasses. So, their motto is : Take the money and don't give a sh*t. Awful !
  19. Remember that Brazilian rosewood is not allowed except with a permit.
  20. All the paperwork is on the side of the seller. The buyer has to pay all the duties, that's all.
  21. I've sold a bass in the U.K. very recently with a Para rosewood (Dalbergia Spruceana) fretboard. No issues with the customs (CN23 correctly filled and pro forma invoice joined) and the bass arrived in 48 hours using FedEx Express.
  22. Indeed, sound wise it's very close to my Leduc Masterpiece fretless basses with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, not harsh at all, with a bit more harmonics. I'm a huge fan of the Vigier Delta Metal fingerboard fretless basses, which was first offered by Vigier in 1980 as the Arpège fretless bass, and have owned a few over the years, like this very early one, bearing serial number 004 (not mine). But I've always wanted a sixer metal fingerboard fretless, so my wife offered me, last year, the above mentioned Le Fay Remington Steele 6 RHT CC CAP Big Block (that's its name !).
  23. Just in case, here's how to get the best of both worlds according to the Dobbratz brothers, the two Le Fay basses owners. It's what they call the RHT which stands for Right Hand Tuning, so basically a headless with a headstock. It has become my number one bass. And yes, it's a stainless steel fingerboard.
  24. There's a well known fact missing : Paul McCartney is a total cheapskate, hence buying the cheapest bass in the store. The rest is (extraordinary) history, but this proves that you don't need the most expensive bass in the world to become one of the most acclaimed musician in the ... world. That said, as a Beatles fan, I bought and sold almost immediately a 1967/68 Höfner 500/1 as it was a real pain in the *ss to play (the sound was as expected) with its permanent head diving, even if I tried the Macca strap attachment at the headstock.
  25. He doesn't even know what the pots are doing !?! Worth watching the video. 🤦‍♂️
