1.
just received mine so i'll test it tonight isnt the strobe mode the most accurate though?
Strobe Mode does not work on Bass If you get a very powerful telescope & read the stupidly minuscule instructions they supply it tells you there. B
 2. Does a low B work on a 32" scale? What are the advantages & problems with 32"? Brendan
 3.
Anyone tried the line 6 Hd500x on bass? Worth a go? It seems to give a lot if versatility for routing options etc, but I would be worried that the two main sounds I use (fuzz and octaver) would not be up to scratch. It seems there's not many bass amp some either, but for me I'd only use one always on anyway, It's hilarious... Past few years I've went back and forth from multi fx to separates, I just can't make my mind up!

I dare say an awful lot of us have done that I know I have. For the moment, I'm happy enough with what my Line 6 Pod XT Live gives me -- the FX I want are perfectly useable and the few amp models I use are convincing enough to keep me happy, and the sheer convenience of having everything in one easily transportable box makes it a definite keeper for the foreseeable future.
At this moment I am using my Line 6 HD500 for that very reason (plus can go direct to PA for open mic type gigs). I have installed the Bass Pack & tweaked the input settings. It sounds good, the Octaver is very good (I have a real EBS to compare) Not sure about the Fuzz as I don't use them, I wish it had the SansAmp from the POD XT, but it now does have a SVT emulation. So working for me. All this may change after next rehearsal 'cos I some times get to the stage where I like to "Go Naked" & multi-effects seem like "going to bed with your socks on!!!" Brendan
 4. Ooh How I wish this was a 6 string type Bump Brendan
 5.
Just got back from a busman's holiday in St Ives, the Cornish one. Went with an old Uni friend and we took guitar and bass with us and did 4 open mics in a week. We had a really great time, the local musicians made us welcome, we even got invited along to jam sessions and we could have done more. In the summer there's music on somewhere every night. We heard some good stuff too. The audiences were really appreciative, a mixture of locals and holiday makers and we had a great time talking music and playing. My idea of a perfect holiday. Wonder how many others take instruments with them on holiday and grab the chance to entertain.
That sounds really cool -- Love Cornwall (but it's a long way for Me!!!)
 6.
No Crimson on Spotify!!
No I was going to post that earlier in the thread -- Really annoying isn't it! Give Tarkus time to grow on you (try Brain Salad Surgery & Trilogy too!) Interesting to hear what you make of Magazine? From reading your stuff you are a Jazzer so surely for you the Ultimate Prog band is [controversial] Return to Forever!!!! [/controversial] Brendan
 7.
I would also class Magazine as a prog band.
Big +1000 to that I have always thought the same
Listen to "Back to Nature" from "Secondhand Daylight" - totally prog, even the bass part sounds like Chris Squire.
Better still listen to the whole Album & try "Correct Use of Soap" while your at it :-) B
 8. To play safe I would go for Close To The Edge. But I do love Tarkus & Brain Salad Surgery All this was embarrassing in the late 70's when I was a post-punk!!! Brendan
 9.
I wish more bassists thought of the bass guitar as a guitar with less strings. We'd get better bass lines.
Well same amount of strings in some cases but yeah general: +1 B
 10. Crickey you could get a lot of Epi Jack Casady's (The real Les Paul Bass) for that Dollar!!! B
 11.
That D112XLT was a bargain for someone - great cabs
Yeah that's what I thought. Probably took the bottom out of the market for second hand WP100/Nav pre-amps though!!!
 12.
Easier to read manual here
Thanks for that pfretrock the one they ship is of no use at all!! I can't read a word!! Tuner works fine for Bass -- Not sure it is any better than my Snark? Suppose if you use polytune on Guitar it is more worth the extra? Time will tell? Bren
 13. Just measured mine it is 48 inchs My Fender Jazz fits fine Brendan
 14. Mine has been stuck in Koln since last Friday with the other Thomann kit!! B
 15. Marcus Miller has always said he started playing bass to get some ... !!! I'll get me coat! B
 16.
I think part of his sound at that time involved a Mutron phaser pedal but not sure exactly which model. After doing some digging it appears to be the Mutron III which has been emulated by another company (Amplitude?) more recently as the Mu-III is long gone. You might find this useful; http://miguelbass.com/tag/mutron/
Wow the rig rundown video in that link is interesting it is generally quoted that Chris used an old Marshall Superbass amp, but that one is too old it must be a straight JMP (guitar) amp it even has a presence control!! Bren
 17. Dunno defiantly some modulation (flange/chorus whatever). Here is a live instrumental mainly solo version, as can be seen a lot of it is probably technique!!! Brendan
 18.
You should have no problem with that as long as "use your ears" and never turn it up full. Just enjoy the headroom.
This + 1
 19. You say you have a HD350 but have you tried the EBS Reidmar they when driven with character button in sound very "Valve-ish". Also the Eden 405 with the Warm button in sounds nice. B
 20. ... So let Chris say it...
 21. RIP Chris -- Really can't think what to say...
 22. Yeah and without disrespecting any the of US musicians this shows the UK could Groove just as good (or Bad in the modern vernacular!) as the guys from Muscle Sholes, Stax, et. al.!!! (Maybe not quite Motown!!!) Brendan
 23. Nice find! Got to love the 60's!! The Video is pure Pop-Art Brendan
