  1. I'm loving my Puma 500. It just sounds great. Small and light, but not light enough it drifts off the cab while playing... I originally wanted the 900 as I was playing in a mightily loud metal band, but the 500 came in a good price so I went with it, and it has always been plenty loud enough with room to spare. When gigging the EQ is usually set flat, as it seems to suit my bass and sounds great. Question - is the 'flat' setting voiced?
  2. That is awesome! 😎
  3. I love me some Dio, but Mob Rules and Heaven and Hell, just don't do it for me. Whereas stick some Holy Diver on, and 30 odd years just fade away... \m/
  4. there's a Brazilian all female Iron Maiden tribute band, called Iron Maidens. Musically they are absolutely spot on. \m/
  5. Music, football, beer and women. And in that order. Rod Stewart
  6. Late 80'S Australian tribute band - Hans Valen
  7. we've had a couple of requests. I can't do the first one because the bass doesn't fit...
  8. I do like white block inlays on a maple fretboard 😎
  9. I once saw a Coldplay tribute band (not my choice) do I Believe in a Thing Called Love, by The Darkness, as an encore.
  10. Pint held purely for scale 😁
  11. and this.
  12. I used to have the PJB Dalek. Or M500 head and 8T & 16B cabs. It sounded great but wasn't loud enough, due to the speakers running at 16ohms IIRC.
  13. My first bass - sort of. It was the college bass I learned to play on. Sounded good, but as others have said, they're heavy buggers 😋
  14. That was my first thought when I saw the thread title!
  15. Got a folding bass at work, and rehearse there too as all but one of the band work at the same place.
  16. Trying to reply but I'm unable to paste text or links 😤 Take a look at the Wikipedia page for legato then look at the guitar section ☺ Or go to the YouTube and search for 'legato guitar' 🎸
  17. If speed = shredding then there's no difference if you use a technique based on legarto. Funnily enough if I shred on guitar, I have to pick each note. But on bass I'm a fingers player and can use legarto.
  18. Nikki Sixx. No song in particular, just him running about the stage throwing shapes and posing. I thought 'i'll have some of that'.
  19. i wonder if my bass style will ever be in vouge.😃
  20. er, yeah. Or at least that is the intention to buy one that's better.
  21. If you need a pre-amp, does that mean your amp isn't much cop? 😛
  22. saw them at The Horn in St Albans, getting on for 20 years ago. Great gig. Probably a completely different line-up Pauline excepted.
  23. Swift by name...
