Exactly. They CAN both work in the same area. Dont get me wrong, im not arguing that keys dont cause issues in some bands, but a blanket 'don’t let him/her/them/they touch the bottom octave etc is nonsense. Are we to limit how high a bass player goes on the fretboard because it's now in guitar range? Everyone needs to work together to get it to gel. Do bands with two guitarists insist one doesn't play anything because its in the same register as the other 😄 As a keys player in one band (admittedly im not very active with my left hand because im not really a piano player) I manage to stay out of the way of the bass. In fact on some songs I play a fill or run that the bass should play but doesn't. I must admit ive been in a band who had a piano player and yes, he was all over the low end, quite annoying until I sat him down and we worked it out. I made him listen to the bass line and re work his left hand. Never once telling him he shouldn't use it. it sounded great after that. It doesn't take a pro player to figure this out, just common sense. Not something everyone has though (no matter what instrument they play).

Change the bass tone so it cuts through. it's all about working together. Not all bass players are even capable of holding the low end down so I don’t agree the keyboard player must only use certain parts of the keyboard. Ive seen band with awfully muddy bass tones that ruin the whole mix and you cant hear the music clearly. If it's a piano part then the bass needs to remember that a piano is played with two hands and work with the keyboard player. I agree that a keyboard player should not be playing the bass part as such, but the low end can be multiple instruments and not just bass. Band's have had keys and bass in them for years, Look at Elton John/Billy Joel etc for example. All over the keyboard, but does the bass player not get heard?

Just got a EBS MB3, need a cheap IR loader for headphone practice.
dave_bass5 replied to dave_bass5's topic in Effects
Actually forget that, I just saw the Mvave on amazon for £29 inc Prime delivery. Also noticed it can run off USB so I can leave it plugged in. Just ordered one. For me the best feature will be the Low cut. As much as the EBS does sound great through headphones, I can't quite tame the low end as much as the Nux did with its IR on. -

I canceled the order for the IR loader, as I realised i dont really need it. Loving the EBS Microbass 3 just as it is. I cant see me ever going back to Sansamp now. It's not perfect, but it's as close as I can get with one box. -
I like that Ped, but not sure i'd get one if the back of your bass is anything got go by 😇😂

Not sure about a digital route, but if it's Jack in on the HX then this should work. you'd also need a splitter. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Certified-Headphone-Lightning-Earphone-Converter-White/dp/B09KMSS6PF/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=2TOEJ8E75A4FI&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.26rnV1QdHplIhYqjbG9PsShynly2kgaVAuiIi1eMZ8VPwAMyoFGQPmxCQQfD0t2a39TQbyhVxDOUS5wHzozMk5OLAy7nYeNTi8b4kmhQ6isKuih_wodTFHZHss9RwdHfq054XZXJKaKmRc_YfDgZjK5jYePJRhJM-8Y338BGArqfAsQw8hjb1hHYEbquW6glDglaBmX4gnS-_n7xjz9NAoA3Damja7ATsKv6B823tEs.0ObXaNlqo93IUC6nOodqy0ALrjmF6JVPSOwf_jdoYpA&dib_tag=se&keywords=lightning%2Bheadphone%2Badapter&qid=1753963194&sprefix=lightnig%2Bhe%2Caps%2C78&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1

After a year with mine im still getting the on/off buttons wrong. I just can't seem to get used to them and always seem to either press the Connect button or try and slide the correct one the wrong way (and I know you slide towards the jack).

Ernie Ball Pino Palladino flatwounds - £90 a set
dave_bass5 replied to kevin_lindsay's topic in General Discussion
I think its easier to sound like Pino talking in Welsh than it is to sound like him playing bass 😀 -
Yeah, and ive been to many London studios where plugs are falling off the walls, lack of earthing on the amps and condensation on the walls etc. But those are manned so much safer 😅

Oh yeah, I tried those as well. Ive never been too impressed with any of the cobalt line. -

Ive tried a few flats over the years. Not really my thing but I love how they feel. IT's were my fav's, I really liked the suppleness and smooth tone, although I still have a set of Chromes that go on every now and then when I want a change but can't afford any new gear lol. IIR I did try La Bella's years ago but found them a bit too old school for me, but I do like the sound of flats when others play them. -

My thoughts are, what did Pino play before these came out? Surely those are going to get as close to his signature sound for a lot less. -
Why's that? Obviously we can all pick and choose where we rehearse, but the Pirate studios ive used have already been pretty full when we have been there. never had any incidents (unlike with certain other studios).

Pubs and venues to be protected from noise complaints
dave_bass5 replied to Cliff Edge's topic in General Discussion
I'd hate to live next to a pub or music venue, but wouldn't expect it to close down because ive just moved there. Some people are up thier own backsides. -
Like the bass line i played in this video

Ive just had this happen to me recently. Got the Ampeg SGT-DI and although my WS90’s work fine most of the time, when the preamp is disengaged and the IR is on, my WS90 picks up all sorts of noise. Really loudly. Even when off. Cable and 2.4ghz Xvive’s are fine. Even with my EBS Microbass 3, just having the WS90 plugged in and putting my had close give a sound simply to when a cable is unplugged. When it’s on it s fine. Might be a faulty receiver. Again, no issues with the Xvive.

My point being, they could probably see if there was a fire or smoke. They could probably see in to every room, which is more than you could.

As a long term BDDI user ive recently gone over to a EBS MB 3 as well. It's like a breath of fresh air after all those years of using a much more coloured sound. Not sure I'll keep it though, as I do miss a few things ive had on other pedals. Might be going back to the Nux MLD preamp. As to the OP's question, I think the EBS has hardly any of the requirements. No on/off (its on all the time, although it does have a mute), no level control for DI at all, no IR, PSU only, Not very 'vintage', but that's subjective I guess. Ive been on a quest find something pretty close to what the OP is asking, and ended up finding it just doesn't exist.

The Pirate studios we use have CCTV in every room, as well as the kitchen/Toilet areas. So we assume things are monitored.

Just about to order one of these. I had the Helix a few years ago and loved it, but I only need a phaser for a couple of parts now and this seems the best deal. The question is, does the tone change much when it's engaged? I realise it will change a bit, but ive had a few Phasers than have boosted the low end too much when turned on.

Ive bene using a set of Lekato WS90’s for a while now. single is clear and ive never had any dropouts. A week or so ago i brought an Ampeg SGT-DI. I noticed that when the preamp was not engaged, but the IR was on, i was getting a lot of horrible noise. This was when using the WS90. My Xvive and cables were fine with it. I send it back. This week i got a EBS Microbass 3, and although i have no issues with it, i get a loud hum if i put my hand near, or worse, on, the WS90 when its off but plugged in to the EBS. When the WS90 is on it’s fine. It’s like when you have a cable thats not attached to anything at the other end. Cant figure out why this happens when it’s off and im close to it. Poor shielding is the only thing that comes to mind.

dave_bass5 replied to dave_bass5's question in Site Issues and Questions
Looking at the iPad version it seems that the link buttons runs almost the whole length of the bottom part of the box. This area seems to be the active area on desktop, even though there is noting to indicate this. -

dave_bass5 posted a question in Site Issues and Questions
On my Mac's (Safari) there seems to be no indication where the text box ends and the area to select a file to upload begins. I can sort of tell, but the background seems to be the same as the text box, with no divider. A few times ive click a bit too low and the window opens up. I can see the curser change from text to an arrow, but personally id like to see a divider separating the two areas.
