  1. Yeah, i thought this was quite a common practice. Obviously with superglue and not just left loose 😀 Thanks, ill bare that in mind.
  2. My E is a bit low and ive decided for the first time that im going to have a go at fixing it. I’ve seen how to do it using Baking Soda, and im confident in doing it, but have a question about the file i need to use. Ive seen recommendations for Welders rods, and have looked these up on Amazon. The question is, do i need to get something that is the same, or almost as wide as the slot itself? All the Welder’s rod sets seem to be very narrow. Is it a case of just using a narrow one and working my way around the slot with it? Thanks for any advice.
  3. Im always nervous of leaving something muted when we go back on, so I have my XR18 set to Mute/unmute all by any of the mute buttons. FOH stays on and the iPad playing music does as well, but the band are all muted with one button (and it can be any of the big red buttons).
  4. thanks, that's helpful. I watched a few YT videos last night and think ive got the hang of it. Im assuming the P16 will already be set up for 1-1, 2-2 etc as default, but I know where to look if it's not. I quite like the idea of not having to plug my IEM transmitter in to the XR18. I have a small power pored at my feet so this can sit down there. I will need to figure out how and where to put the P16. I know it will go on a mic stand so I can do that, but im looking at a more compact solution if possible. One thing, can I route the FX returns to the P16 like I can thew Aux channels? At the moment we have a vocal reverb for FOH, and use a second for the IEM mixes. EDIT: i see you did mention FX already.
  5. Hmmm, that makes sense and yeah, i guess that could be a problem for some. Cheers, I’ll report back what i think when i get mine. Have just ordered it but using slow delivery so might not arrive until next week (seeing as it’s EVRI, maybe never lol).
  6. Ah, so instead of the LED’s on the old one, the HQ version (which is what im intending to get) has the actual button flash? This is what im talking about. So pressing one will turn it red and it’s selected? Seems simple enough once it’s explained to me. Thanks
  7. Ah cool, thanks for the info. I think what threw me was seeing images of the HQ with multiple buttons lit up green. Wasn’t sure why. It does look like a cool device, im going to get one maybe over the weekend or next week.
  8. Jumping in here about the P16. Never used one, never thought id find a use for one, now I want one. Im going to order one tomorrow, and will read up on it etc in the meantime. I get what it does, but I have two questions. 1. I assume I dont need to do anything at the XR18 end other than plug a Cat5 cable in? Can I now not bother plugging my IEM system in to the desk, and just plug in to the P16? 2. I get that the buttons along the bottom represent 16 channels coming from the XR18. Say I want to turn one of the guitars up, do I have to click on that channel button and move the volume knob? what im getting at is it looks like I have to have the buttons enabled first to get the sound going to the IEM's, or do I mute what I dont want to hear, but all the buttons will un illuminated unless I engage one to adjust its level?
  9. Actually both my guitarist’s only use 1x12’s. One also uses a multiFX that goes directly to the mixer as well as his amp. The other has his amp mic’ed up.
  10. This is what I find. Although our backline could fill the rooms and we'd get told to turn down, having the band turn down a bit and putting just a bit though the PA seems to give a better mix, without really getting any louder (or at least, not too noticeable). Unfortunately, as I pretty much have to do the sound from stage (basically set and forget but I do have the iPad close in case I do need to change something), I dont have our lead guitarist in the PA as he still hasn't got his levels sorted out, nor feedback control), and I dont want to risk that through FOH.
  11. I don mic the drums, other than the kick. We do place a small digital recorder close to the kit, this is for the IEM mixes and recording only, not FOH. Problem is, even that picks up his monitor, so gets quite a lot of the mix as well. That's really not a big deal though. He point blank reuses to use Headphones or IEM's and will never budge. Unfortunately he owns the monitors so it's not like I could 'forget' to bring them to the gig.
  12. We use Powered PA cabs for monitors (for those that dont use IEM) and I hate it. Drummer has a 1x15 right by his kit, and his mic not only picks the drums up, but the monitor as well. He is very old school and won't change. Its like they want to be professional and want good monitors, but have no clue that this is overkill for our gigs and effects the sound for the audience. I now insist we sound check with all mic's active and try and balance it all out front. On smaller gigs we might as well not even take a PA. In fact the monitors have the same power as our FOH. I guess this counts as having a back up if nothing else.
  13. Thanks. Might give them a go.
  14. Ive been searching for info on these but can't figure out if the button is an on/off switch, or just for pairing. Are these the type that you can leave plugged in and just turn on when needed, or like the Boss ones that turn on when pugged in?
  15. I felt exactly like this during lockdown. Brought a keyboard and found happiness again.
  16. Pretty sure my drummer tried doing it with his hand and it made no difference. We were on a stage those and there was a lot of energy being transmitted through it.
  17. Not sure. If he is sitting there not playing, but there is a loud buzzing come from between his legs, id assume he would be aware of it. Judging by the other replies, drummers can hear this sort of thing on a quieter stage.
  18. Hearing it out front when we sound checked on Sat was what prompted me to speak up. It's also quite prominent at rehearsals. That may not really matter, but it's a noise that shouldn't be there, so, like feedback and excessive hiss, it should be addressed asap as it's just not very proffessional. I dont even mind between songs, it's if someone is playing.
  19. This is what I first suggested to him. I thought it would be easy to do that.
  20. We tend to play smaller clubs, where nothing other than keys and Vox go through the Paso its getting quite noticeable, especially on stage.
  21. Not even when playing Stand by me? 😂
  22. I can’t ever remember having to ask a drummer in all the years I’ve been playing. Maybe it’s not been much of an issue and I’ve not noticed, or they were turning them off when needed. Either way, we now need this to happen in my current band and i expect it will be an uphill struggle, but i won’t let it go. I just wasn’t sure it was a thing with drummers. Thanks for the replies and confirmation.
  23. Im not sure he does much of that. He seems to make a lot of mistakes. He is a good drummer but doesn't quite get the songs right these days. Nice bloke though and I would never want to argue with him, but things have to be said if they need to. He did ask me to remind him at the next rehearsal, which I took exception to and told him maybe he should make a list of the songs that need this. I wipe enough asses already.
  24. I’m pretty sure none of my other drummers over the years didn’t do this when possible. I mentioned an E kit to him, as he does have one, but got an odd look lol. im just dumbfounded that none of my band have never mentioned it before, although I’m not really surprised considering the other issues they never hear or mention.
  25. Glad it’s not just me. I’ve let it go for a couple of years, admittedly it’s not been a big deal with our old set, but we now have a few songs where its very noticable. I dont play bass in this band, but to do what you suggest above id have to teach my bass player how to tune his bass first……😂
