  1. I'd say it's very much about you. You post it, or variations on it, quite regularly.
  2. They may not wish to...
  3. Some of the best musicians I have encountered have been a bit "flakey". They can be infuriating at times, but the reward for putting up with it can be musically (and financially) very rewarding. I've also met plenty who talk a good fight and are well organised, but who cannot cut it musically. It's a compromise. I, for example, am together, own an expensive PA and tend to end up organising things. However, I'd be the first to admit that I'm musically pretty ordinary. Each of us plays to our strengths. In any band, you need a mixture of all types - some who are musically inspired and some who can take care of business.
  4. Blue, We get it. You play in a bar band and make a bit of money at it. We're very happy for you. We all play music for a variety of reasons - financial, for personal satisfaction, to get away from the family for a few hours, etc, etc. They're all equally valid and even "flakes" are perfectly entitled to play music if they want.
  5. Use it. That's what it was designed/built for. It's not an ornament.
  6. For heaven's sake, man, where's your sense of aesthetics? That overhang is shocking.
  7. If your amp has a line out, you should be able to get what you want by connecting the sub to that. However, depending on where in the signal path the line out is situated, you may find the input volume on the head, rather than the output volume, will control the level sent to the sub. I'd ask Ashdown's advice.
  8. Who's TC Elliot? Has he a daughter called Tracey (Trace for short)? Understand he's from Essex. Re. the original topic, what a surprise that Roger Daltrey says rock "peaked" with one of his albums. No axe to grind there, eh?
  9. Guess he'll have to play one of his other instruments, then... 😁
  10. I take it Hawkwood make kitchens.
  11. Les Paul Triumph? Defeat, more like.
  12. No, it's not. Why would someone cover up the markings that show it to be genuine. P basses "rare"? Maybe after the Armageddon, when virtually everything has been destroyed...
  13. Tears of a Clown. Smokey Robinson. Bass by Bob Babbitt. First time I noticed how the bass drove the whole song.
  14. PJB are deceptive. I use two C4s and a 4B - the number depends on how loud I need to be. Tonally, they're clean, with a touch of warmth - not clinical. They project/carry very well. I depped for the bassist at my local blues jam night recently and was surprised how well my two C4s could be heard out in the room. However, I'm not sure my rig would be adequate for rock with a heavy handed drummer (even adding my 4B). Horses for courses and all that.
  15. Do you read? It's handy when you need to learn more intricate/sophisticated stuff. It's helpful to get transcriptions of the bass parts to well known pieces. Learning and playing them will help you develop an understanding of how and why various phrases and lines work in context.
  16. A skate - strong plywood with 4 large castors (larger wheels roll better over uneven ground) - is the ideal thing. Lift cab onto it, roll into position, lift cab off. Job done.
  17. Rather a silly comment. No orchestra or members actually try to dress like or be Mozart and Schubert (or any other composer) and/or play only their material.
  18. I don't think you understand me. I'm not claiming to be "better". I'm stating that I think "tribute" bands are a nonsense. Many of us play in covers bands and play music others have written. However, we play a range of material. It's the exact copying of everything about one particular artist that I find unhealthy and a bit silly.
  19. Exactly. I own a dictionary (in fact I own several). "Tribute" in this context is a mis-use of the term. It's a euphemism. It would be more accurate to say "imitation".
  20. There are, I'm afraid, Bill - https://www.chord.co.uk/product/chord-cream-instrument-cable/. I'm sure there are other Snake Oil cables being peddled, too. A fool and his money and all that.
  21. Try a few. The only way to avoid disappointment.
  22. If the guitar player is a mate, ask him what he'd like you to do.
  23. Try one of those rucksack type straps that goes over both shoulders. A pal, who has back/shoulder problems, swears by his.
  24. "Tribute" bands = sad nonsense. Don't care how good/"accurate" they are. Does anyone eat "tribute" (i.e. fake) food or drive a "tribute" car? Ridiculous.
