1. want....
2. interested to see how you do the checking and body relic. What did you do the the tuners, or did they come like that ?
3. You can't Trying putting "reduced" in the title to get people's attention and state in the main post what the new price is
4. Yes that's what I meant There are better designs than the BBOT but it's iconic so they don't fix it but I don't see why an unseen but not uncommon fault can't be fixed
5. ive got a nice dark one in celluloid available
6. Thanks Mr east himself has been in touch to advise, maybe I'll start a new trend
7. if its true, it seems fair to me.
8. yes, I used a metal fret mask to stop the chemicals getting into the wood. You can also use masking tape.
9. thank you, I have since read that piezos are quite low output so that may be the answer. I want it to be a bit stealth. http://www.east-uk.com/index.php/bass/piezo-magnetic-mixer/mpm-01.html
10. i used brasso on my warwick's frets (they'd not been touched in the last ten years according to the previous owner) and they came up beautifully in moments.
11. update us when you get it ...
12. not quite - weak or failure prone pickups can be fixed invisibly, and should have been. The bridge issues form part of the arguably iconic cosmetic design and so is harder to change without protests
13. A generically weak front pickup should have been fixed a long time ago ( it's not like it's a cosmetic change) on an instrument as premium priced as this
14. Did you sell it?
15. Can someone advise me what hardware I need to do a concentric "outer" blend (centre notch) and "inner" tone ? I think I can do the wiring it's the hardware choices I'm uncertain about To fit a Jazz bass with single coils and two volume controls The blend is for a piezo to be used or blended in to whatever the two volumes select Thanks
16. Hardy Smith ? no- just inside the borders of [s]Mordor[/s] Mansfeld - near the Sir John Cockle - he normally works on acoustics but he made a lovely job of my Stingray - Anthony Dixon
17. Reason I ask is that I was toying with building a jazz bass with a piezo bridge and putting a concentric blend pot on the tone position (so tone as normal but also piezo balance)
18. Can you say what the piezo sounds like compared to a regular pickup? I'm curious
19. Oh dear - I'd better fetch the popcorn for this thread You'll get a lot of information Maybe post some pictures as the colour can indicate wood choice which will influence the sound to an arguable extent.
20.
That's always going to be an issue with the youtube channel thing, folks start becoming internet 'celebreties' and it becomes more of a performance for the camera, though I'm sure Dave was probably a bit of a crotchety git to begin with. The guy I used for anything I needed over last 8 yrs or so was never full of the joys of spring but he was far more personable than Dave and did a decent job. Interestingly he was far more into the trickier jobs (though I never took him my Ric) because he could take time over them and charge a decent amount, last time I saw him about 3 years ago he had pretty much given up doing the quick £30 set up jobs, held no interest for him.
slight diversion; I found a useful guy for setups in Sutton IN ashfield.
21. Only the last one is available In the last one I wish the bass was louder
22.
A full-size photo pinned to the wall could scratch that itch, perhaps..?
and you could throw darts at it and hope to hit a high-quality component or well-made or well-finished section
23. Nothing I have ever seen has persuaded me to want one. I just think something that expensive should be perfect in every way I'm really glad he's not being uber critical just for the sake of it though
24.
I think we're slightly talking at cross purposes - but in the sections I quoted, "ownership" is transferred when the contract is made, which would be when the funds are transferred in the absence of anything agreed to the contrary.
sure I understood that, but aren't we then left in the invidious position that the moment Ebay notify me that a buyer has paid, its immediately their stuff and thus their risk even though its still in my possession ? The understanding I have from my LLB is that risk passes when the parties intended it to pass (or must have intended) in the absence of any concrete evidence (exception when the seller uses a different delivery method at the request of the buyer) and that for most reasonable people would be when the item arrives safely at the specified address.
