1.
No. I'm guessing geek was just having a tough day.
I was having a very tough week, and I still am, however I also thank you for the understanding and empathy; I do appreciate it
I've read through this thread a couple of times now and I keep coming back to this reply. Don't really see anything wrong with the topic subject or the way the original posr is/was phrased; I just don't get how the post was unthoughtful. I wholly understand how difficult life can be to accommodate the whims if the gigging musician; our ex-guitarist has a daughter that requires 24 hour care, but I doubt he would have said the post was in any way unthoughtful. Are we heading towards a situation here where we're unable to ask relatively straightforward questions on a forum for fear of upsetting anyone? #confused
Are we heading towards a situation where its all fluffy bunnies and no one can raise a protest of any kind? Some disparaging comments about bedroom warriors do surface from time to time, and I don't like the condescension. Some of us have fewer choices. I deleted my post, so now you don't need to keep coming back to it. #thereyougo @TheBrig, I understand your position a little better now btw
2. I've had one of those, Mr Painy. I would keep it and enjoy if you possibly can . A new bridge is cheap, and bear in mind that the jack sockets often go, but you can get a neutrik model at Maplin for about £5
3. ok - i stand corrected but he is talking about an older 2005 model?
4.
I thought everyone would get that.
Blue comes from a different culture - similar but different
5. "the soapbar pickup is wired directly to a locking Neutrik jack socket."
6. They do look COOL though, no end of people stand in front of me counting the strings before asking "is that a bass?"
7.
Nonsense, you can learn a lot from records and even more from books and structured lessons. I'm a rock guy, however I was able to win an audition to play bass in my university jazz band for 4 years because in addition to moving that needle back and fourth I had also studied and took lessons which taught me to read charts. Blue
Wasn't he being ironic ?
8. I've had the fretted version and it was lovely
9.
I've recently started playing with two bands after moving out into the sticks. One is a classic rock band and we are still getting the set together, the other is a Country band in the truest sense, definitely no Country Rock. They tend to open with 'I recall a Gypsy Woman.' Makes me want to open a vein everytime.
I quite fancy trying a country band actually, as long as the outfits weren't stupid
10.
A couple of questions. I need to get an acoustic for acoustic open mic nightS. I have tried Ibanez and Martin(could not afford that though) both had necks like. boat oars. It seems that Fender and Washburn make bases with necks like electric bass guitars so has anyone experience of either the Washburn AB5 or Fender CB-100CE. Also can anyone recommend good acoustic strings.
Cheapie fender phosphor bronze work well, amazing sell them cheaply I have one and I take it to OM nights. The only thing it's good for is playing something to show someone (i.e. With someone JUST listening), forget playing along and being heard, even over an acoustic guitar You can't demonstrate with an electric bass unamplified in a corridor . Guy I work with, we pick something random on a whim and throw it together in the corridor, maybe playing it twice before we go on, acoustics are good for that, but I always pick up a precision before we go on
11.
Feedback on eBay is a joke. Did I imagine you are not able to leave negative feedback easily anymore, have to jump through hoops e.t.c.?
If you're a buyer it's as easy as it ever was
12.
It used to annoy me not getting feedback but not anymore I just put it down to people not bothering such is life but I always leave feeback for others
Yes it's annoying but hey, life is too short
13. Never had an issue with UPS unlike Parcel farce or Hermes
14. Mine actually suggested it - it worked out fine
15. I'd suggest it was a replacement body if you like it, you like it, but I think it's overpriced for what I think it is. You can buy genuine 70s basses on here for that, there's a 70s jazz in white listed for c 1200
16. I see no serial in that neck pocket photo - can you see one?
17. Body stamp in neck pocket ? It's a bit dark but maybe a custom colour ? 70swere all about brown and orange Pots do have codes, the tech guy is wrong
18. OM folk love my fake beat-up fender, people come over and talk about it
19. Wash as normal with a low spin. I received one that was mouldy and stank of fags and it came up pristine. Unzip it fully and turn it inside out. Unless it has any leather on it, obviously
