1. Up for the best bass cab I've used - I used a Marshall bass amp many years ago and the tone isn't for me, however, the cab alone has to be worth consideration - very punchy with a thick bottom end
2. really lovely - fantastic colour and MHS!
3. I had one of these and really shouldn't have sold it - beautiful instruments (but they are heavy - mine was around 11lbs). The LPB was lovely - the CAR versions often have pitting to the finish.
4. Loads of Foderas on here just now but this is my favourite!
5. Truly amazing basses - I had a 5. As good as pretty much any high-end hand-built. Quality of fit and finish is extraordinary - massive tone
6. A really lovely bass and I certainly wasn't raising any accusation of flipping - I'd thought the other was up for 1600 anyway. A surprise that there are two of these around - love the colour and I'd be interested if I played much long scale - good luck, I can see this going quickly!
7. Is this the one that was advertised by WishIcouldplay up to last month? If so, a lovely looking instrument
8. I saw the show live at the Manchester gig - it reminded my why I took-up playing all those years ago. Some of the most iconic music in the canon performed by an unbelievably strong band. The brass was wobbly in 5.15 but that apart, a staggering gig with brilliant sound in one of the worst venues in Britain. The only let-down was Pino - he played everything about right I think, but he was very muted in the mix. I think he was playing a Precision most of the time. Many of the tracks in Quadrophenia are driven by the bass-lines - my honest opinion is that Pino should have tried to emulate JE's tone - maybe use a Status? The video solo of JE sounded amazing so why the mud throughout the rest of the set? Maybe down to the mix (but not entirely)
9. superb cabs - I had the 3x10 version - very tight with extended bottom-end. Beautifully light and this is a bargain price IMO (Epi gear appears to have fallen out of fashion but it's amazing stuff - among the first in the very high-end lightweight revolution)
10. One of the nicest and most decent sellers on BC! Oh dear, do I want this!
11. I've never had heroes, it doesn't work for me. If anyone has ever come close, it's Allen, Edgar Broughton and Alex Harvey. The letter is typical of Allen's beautiful mind and persona - it brought shivers. He'll never be gone, none of us will. Be good and love your sisters and brothers - we're all we have and all we need (that and a bass and a brew)
12.
The board is for sure Indian Rosewood. The action could be set up crazy low !
Ah, still very beautiful and a lovely colour! Very tempted on this - great fade on the burst
13. I foolishly put mine up for sale around a month ago - I'm moving and thought I'd reduce the bulk, plus I play short scale most of the time. A stupid idea and I returned to my senses - in some measure as a result of posts and PMs on here. I played the L this morning and maintain its the best Fender type bass I've owned (and that's loads with some very expensive super boutiques in there). Don't be fooled by some extremely reasonable prices! And bump...looking forward to seeing a burgundy P with maple neck on here.
14. Lovely! 'Not always easy to tell, but the board looks dark - is it Brazilian rosewood? Also, the action looks pretty good - will it go very low?
15. In more than 30 years of playing, I've used A LOT of amps. This is the best of the combos by a considerable margin. I prefer the styling of the original too
16. Thanks Looda - a beautiful bass - I'm not the biggest fan of spalt but the top and Birdseye are just lovely
17. How much? What has happened to the bass market?
18. Best big tour amp on the planet IMO (and an easy two-person lift). A tank but worth every ounce in tone and heft
19. The joint most beautifully playable J type I've ever owned - my Limelight is the only other with similar feel - wish I still had the JO. Pickups are fantastic - very high output and very focused
20. Don't know if op has seen my messages but is that a spalt maple top?
21. As a long-time short-scale player and advocate, I'd just add a word of caution: some SG type shortscales can feel a lot like a (very) long-scale as a result of strap pin positioning. Alembic SC types are a case in point (though absolutely my favourite basses by a mile). The Spector Shorty is a delight with fabulous ergonomics and a 22 fret board - I'm fortunate to have one and it gets more play than anything else. Not cheap though and the Warwick suggested above sounds like a brilliant alternative - hadn't seen these previously. Good luck to the OP - shorties can be a lot of fun and are very player friendly - a decent one will not imply any compromise in tone
22. I like this very much - thoughtful and individual customisation. Was all the custom work undertaken professionally?
23. I've had two of these and still have one (a five string). They're fantastic instruments - incredibly easy to play and good fun but with a full and characteristic Status tone - no compromise.
24. Bump for withdrawal (and to repeat apologies as in the initial post)
25. A lovely bass that I had the pleasure of playing when it was in the hands of another owner and Basschatter four or five years ago. From what I remember, the top is really lovely - is the truss rod cover still with the bass (I can't remember if it was plastic or wood)?
