1. I've had a few Status basses over the years. My Series II was bought new in 1985 - I still use it regularly and it's sat next to me now. I've had a few Streamlines too and still have one. Weirdly, back in the '80s, I had the choice of the Status or a Wal. A Wal might have been worth more now but I've had a number since and they don't last long - they just don't really suit me. As above, the SII still here and is played all the time. As to what you can expect, well with an S2 classic, you can expect a very modern, powerful and focused tone with a rich and detailed fundamental - almost a compressed in a way. though they're a versatile instrument and can offer a range of more 'classic' tones. The mid-scooped slap-tone is certainly there and you'll hear videos all over youtube. As for tuning, it's super-accurate and super-stable. Balance is lovely on the headless instruments, and, if you like a flat D neck profile, then this is the classic Status shape. Fit and finish is of a generally very high standard, fretwork is always good (in my experience), and the brass hardware is well designed and easily adjustable. The SII isn't a light instrument but it looks very classy and isn't ridiculously heavy - there was a lot of graphite in the earlier models (not so much now, and certainly not with the bolt-ons). The notion that Status basses are 'sterile' is commonly held but much over-played in my opinion. There's quite an organic tone available if you're prepared to look for it. I tend to favour the bridge pickup with treble rolled back and bass boosted substantially - through an Avalon U5 on setting 2, this is close to the grail of bass tones for me. Lovely instruments and a company that stands behind its product - very easy to deal with and always helpful should you need anything. I also like Status own brand DBE strings (30-90 is my favoured gauge). Good luck - if you're around Manchester, you're welcome to try my Series II

3. Fantastic cabs - I had a 112 and a 310. I'm pretty sure it's a SI too. I think the SII had Series II printed on the badge

Kriss Popovski

I've just purchased a bass from Kriss - excellent communications throughout, the bass arrived very well-packed and exactly as described. Totally honest and very friendly. Happy to communicate at length and to provide all necessary details. I'd have no hesitation in dealing with Kriss again - any prospective buyers or sellers can feel totally confident
5. I have no objection to fake relicing, but this puts the latter firmly in its box. An extremely cool instrument and cool price (IMO). I'd ask about smoke and pet free but suspect not over the forty years
6. I think this is one of the most beautiful basses I've ever seen - two more strings than I can cope with, but I'd be looking for ways to purchase this otherwise
7. Thanks for all the lovely comments - all PMs answered and some new images added. Sorry, I really don't want to part this out and I'd prefer a collection sale if possible - I can ship but would need a few days to organise a box and courier
8. Just sold a Zoom multi effect unit to Painy in an extremely easy, friendly and efficient deal. Richard paid exactly what he said he would and communications were fantastic throughout. Thanks very much Richard and and enjoy the Zoom!
9. I'm really not a fan of valve gear, however, this looks like a serious bargain to me!
10. On Hold - Beautiful custom built Precision – constructed using premium parts, and loosely based on a 62–65 Fender P, by Howard, the Bassdoc. Gorgeous Sunburst, possibly Nitro but can't confirm this. Very dark slab rosewood J neck with a tinted Nitro finish. Gotoh reverse wind tuners. Specs as below: Fender '62 reissue body - beautifully sculpted. Allparts J neck with vintage tint nitro (slab board) Fender vintage bridge Kent Armstrong Antiquity pick up Bassdoc celluloid guard - very beautiful! Gotoh reverse wind tuners Fender neckplate Obbm loom Pro set-up with d'addario 40-100 nickel rounds, plays beautifully with a low action. Had a slight electronics buzz but attended to during set-up (now very quiet). In excellent used condition – no nasty dings, dents or scratches but a couple of minor bruises on the body - just slight impressions. Light at around 9lbs but I don't have a fully accurate weight. Comes with Fender gig bag and collection in Manchester or Birmingham. I may be able to ship by arrangement. Very regrettable sale but this was used for a project last year and I can't justify keeping it. I have a habit of buying Ps that I don't need - it was great to have a chance to gig this one last year and earlier this, and at these gigs the bass generated some incredibly admiring comments. Plenty more images - I'll try to get some up later or can email. I have over £600 in the bass but will accept £575.
11. really lovely - amongst the most comfortable basses I've ever played - and a fabulous core tone (with lots of versatility)
12. Bump for a very cleverly and sympathetically aged jazz scratchplate - very high-quality work
13. Just realised this is still here - bump
14. I'm pointlessly trying to manufacture a need for this. Among the finest cabs ever built and an absolute bargain IMO (of course).
15. These are fantastic pres - I actually prefer them to valve pres (though I'm sure others will have a different preference) Seen on stages and in studios all over the world - an industry standard for bass - and the case is a massive bonus!
16. Massively impressive - extraordinary talent MPU. Wals don't suit me at all - I always sell them on fast - but if they did, I'd have bought this by now
17. These sound immense and play beautifully. With a bit of care and a modest outlay, this bass could be restored to its original glory
18. PROEL 3u rack case in good used condition. One handle doesn't retract properly (see first image) but a highly protective and solid case. Very few marks to dark grey outer board. Fitted with 8 captive rack bolts. Collection only in East Manchester
19. A set of high-quality flats - not sure of brand or gauge but I'd think medium for the latter. Cut for Fender four in line( and came off a Precision). Clean with little apparent use - plenty of life left and decent silks with little fray. £5 shipped in the UK. I'll slip these into an D'Addario pack and Jiffy bag for shipping.
20. Zoom B3 multi effect unit with box, manual and PSU. In very good, used condition with only very minor scuffs from careful use. Very impressive multiple effects and an excellent DI option. Shipped in UK for £75
