    Wayne Jones bass preamp - the latest version. I'm not a fan of hyerbole in ads but this is about as good as it gets. I just have a lot of pres and only really use a Hellborg. The one-knob compressor is a thing of wonder. When this arrived, it had a bit of an issue with a glitchy DI. I spoke to Wayne Jones about this and he provided the fix (undertaken by an excellent engineer in Manchester) - one of the caps had been damaged. Probably a cadet engineer and strapping phantom across channels. The internal protection didn't appear to have been successful. The preamp now operates perfectly. In optically perfect condition apart from one pinhead mark on the top of the case (I just dropped a tiny brush end of satin black acrylic onto it so it's almost invisible). Comes with the WJ footswitch and is in its original box. I can ship in the UK at the buyer's risk and expense. Collection in Manchester is possible.     WJ powered speaker cab - 110. These contain two high-end (Pascal) 500 watt amps, so the powered 1x10 offers 500 with the internal speaker and a second cab can be connected to benefit from the full 1000. The unit also offers stereo capability. The twin amps can either linked for mono use (with the addition of a second cabinet), or unlinked for stereo operation. Connecting a (suitably rated) 110 or 210 offers great flexibility and pretty immense power/volume. I have a second WJ 110 that I use with a Berg 210 - you can see what that looks like below (quite a nice fit and a vertically arranged 310 in total). The WJ preamp that I also for sale permits full use of the stereo functionality (I achieve such functionality via another route, hence the sale of the WJ pre - if you're interested in both the pre and 110, let me know and I may be able to do a deal). Build quality is on another level. Condition is excellent - just a few little impressions in the vinyl. The image of the rear appears to show scruffy joints in the vinyl - in reality, these can't be seen (a function of the very bright lighting I suspect). I imagine that most viewing this will know what it is. WJ's boast that these (paired) can be used as studio monitors is no idle one - I've tried it. The price is firm on this - the cabs aren't easy to find and would cost about twice what I'm asking to import. US and Australia build - everything premium and it shows. Shipping is possible but to be arranged by the buyer and at the latter's risk - I can pack carefully in a strong box. Any questions, please just ask.

    Legendary preamp in good cosmetic and excellent functional order. I picked this up around 18 months ago. When it arrived, the gain was slightly wobbly and one of the tone pots has a slight squeak at full travel. I had this examined by a first-rate engineer (works with some of the UK's biggest bands but under the radar). He contacted Udo and all was sorted rapidly. New pots supplied by Glockenklang and all working perfectly - back to full Glockenklang spec (it appears the gain pot had been changed at some point in the amp's life). I'm moving a few really high-end preamps. All beautiful but they all do what my Hellborg does (more or less) and that's in the rack. I can ship in the UK (and possibly beyond) at the buyer's risk. I'm not looking for trades or offers thanks. At the price, I'm taking a bit hit as it is. Any questions, please just let me know.

    I'm not usually a fan of spalted maple but that is absolutely gorgeous (IMO). If this was in the UK (VAT, duty etc.) I'd be very sorely tempted - if only to admire

    One of my favourite 112s - incredibly solid, robust and pokey with a full, rounded tone. Loud too for cab of this size. I was surprised at 45lbs - I don’t remember mine feeling anything like this (I actually scampered off to find the spec.) A comfortable lift and easy to move around. I’m 200 miles away, otherwise this would be gone (it seems pretty difficult to give gear away at the minute!)

    I’m not really a Stingray fan, but that looks gorgeous. The work by the Gallery appears to be sublime – and my favourite form of markers on a fretless board

    I think that for many of us there are ebbs and flows in interest, and these don't always coincide with episodes or periods wherein other priorities require time away from playing (or at least, permit insufficient time for anything more than the odd noodle). Over the years - very many of them - I've gigged and recorded intensively, sometimes simply messed around with basses, or drifted into other interests and obligations where bass has taken a back-seat. I've realised in the past decade that I simply enjoy playing bass for its own reward in terms of relaxation. There's something about the feel of fingers on strings and board that helps me to just drift away - not concentrating, practising or composing, merely sensation, sentience and disengagement from a cacophony of inconsequential trivia. Andy, you were gifted with an incredible talent, one that has brought (and will bring) pleasure to those that are sufficiently fortunate to hear you play - and in a reasonable world, that would be hordes. I'd say, just don't force it - you'll sense if and when it's time. In the interim, just fiddle around and relax - and in your household, the cacophony of inconsequence must be a joyous one

    I'm afraid I can't - more than twelve years of perseverance and I've now given-up. As above, I'm working on a solution and met with a renowned design engineer this week. I do love working with designers - full of smart ideas and solutions

    I've sort of given-up on perseverance with neck diving shorties. Some seem to be much worse than others (Alembic small-bodied shorties for example). I suspect the OP is right re: body dimensions with the Mustangs. I used to love Mustangs and learned on one as a much younger man - the dive didn't bother me then. If there's a chance, try a Wilcock or Spector Bantam/Shorty - I haven't experienced any dive with either. So in short, and to answer directly, I stuck with it, didn't get used to it, and made changes to non-diving alternatives.

    Every Fender or Fender clone I’ve owned. I love the look - incredibly cool. However, in my hands they sound dull and feel uncomfortable. In the hands of others, they can sound beautiful. Inevitably, I will buy more and again, sell at a loss

    Manchester - plenty of events, venues and festivals, and even more eager bands (I saw a very decent and enthusiastic young band in a town square last evening). I haven’t gigged seriously for years - a combination of lack of will, demanding job, poorly paid gigs, and poor treatment. I sort of enjoy playing for relaxation by myself (and find it potentially more stretching - I’m a fan of atonal composition). A lot of my mates are still (older!) pros and won’t touch local gigs - some will only work in Europe - good money, great venues, excellent treatment (apparently). The idea has been floated that I pick-up a few dates with them. Interest piqued - maybe a warm-up in Manchester but that’s it. I find most of the city’s venues pretty scuzzy and unappealing (age?)

    I keep coming back to just look at this. Given the position of the bridge and strap pin, I suspect that it feels like a short-scale (30" or thereabouts), and balances beautifully. It's sort of fortunate that it's in Italy and thus even more difficult to obtain (taxes, duty and shipping). One of the most attractive (to me) basses I've seen in a while

    If that’s the neck I once owned - and it could well be - it’s the finest long-scale fretless neck I’ve ever played (and that includes Wals, Fender Masterbuilt and plenty of other premium brands). Absolute stunner Chris. Pleased to see you’ve settled with that gorgeous Enfield body

    I’ve used Tinytone - they have a lot of choice and stock. I’m fairly close so can call-in to select. An image below - celluloid and fairly red. A chat with Jack prior to purchase might be a good idea
