1. I have rarely used an amp on stage, I rely on the monitors. But I think a tiny stereo rig would be very useful. I am thinking of putting a very small stereo rig which i can use in conjunction with my POD X3 LIVE. It would be for intimate gigs with no PA (with medium/low volume drummers), or for stage monitoring for larger gigs. I would DI to the FOH directly from the POD, the rig plays no part in the FOH sound. This is the tricky bit. It needs to be almost a HiFi rig. I play a doubleneck bass and guitar in one band to it would need to cope with a full freq range. I don't really need a fully featured preamp (is it possible to go direct to a power amp from a POD? I believe so but not sure of the implications). The dimensions need to be REALLY small, I want very small cabs, like a Barefaced Midget size, but with reasonable bass response. I also need to do it on a small budget, low as possible and definitely under £500. Any ideas? I'm virtually clueless as I have never owned a bass amp of any sort. Thanks as always.
 2.
I'm planning to build a twin neck, fretted/fretless. I've made most of the decisions and one question remains... Which neck on top, which neck at the bottom? I like to play fretted with my right hand flopped over the back end of the bass Entwistle style, so fretted at the top? Is it more important to have the fretless at the top for greater ease of control? Before you say "why have twin neck, wouldn't it be easier to use two basses?" - It's not about practicality, I like prog rock and think that twin necks are cool.
Good for you man! I dig twin necks too. You don't say if you are experienced at fretless, but if you need to look at the 'board while playing fretless, it makes sense to have it further away from to make general intonation easier. So I would have the FL neck on the bottom, BUT the side dots will probably be obscured by the upper neck. Will it be a lined fretless? I don't think control is the issue, it's about comfort and ease of use. Are you going to put this in the build diary? I hope so!
 3.
Yep! What are we like...
We is BAAAAD MUTHAS!
 4. I totally dig "Sub Dub" on my POD X3 LIVE. I think this a top idea for a thread and not silly at all. It's something I've always wanted to know without realising
 5. Not only the schmalz, but the sheer prevalence of religious attribution. I find it galling.
 6.
I've got no room to talk: I'll do just about anything if the pay is right
Fabulous!!
 7. I'll try it with my double-neck tonight and let you know how I get on.
 8.
Great pic Nig, and has to become the official photo of the 'Basschatters (who love their basses more than anything else) Sad Losers Club'.. Must post mine too!
And we shall have very many members I reckon!
 9.
Maybe a slight overreaction but an understandable one IMHO. Considering the highly emotional context, unnecessary accusations are just a bit... unnecessary. It's a sad trend with forums unfortunately. In the real world it is generally acknowledged that sometimes negative thoughts are best left unsaid. Some people don't seem to think that same restraint applies on the web. If you're hanging out with a new group of friends down the pub and one of them comes right out and accuses you of something dishonest, then maybe that will make you think twice about associating with them. I don't see why a forum would be different. That aside, it's a great story and hopefully all will end well and hopefully the beating Andre gets off Butch won't do any permanent damage!
Yeah .. you're probably right.
 10.
...and it's all gone horribly wrong. Andre000 now hurt by cynical 'scamming' accusations.... see post 354 here: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.p...919&page=18
Bit of a sad over-reaction, a bit unbalanced from Andre. Still, one never knows, maybe Butch bullied and abused him relentlessly when they were children and for 40 years has suffered trauma and personality disorder as a result. He has now located his abusive brother's whereabouts and bloody and prolonged revenge is imminent. Maybe a good book is imminent. I just hope my first instinct is correct, that it's all going to with loveliness and happiness.
 11. Hey, thank you chaps, think the white Corvette is winning with the Wilkins a close second. Nik, wish I'd have known that before I met Mr Hillside, I may have reminded him And, er, told you didn't I ..
 12. Mrs silddx is crying like a baby reading it right now ..
 13. Nice! I nearly went a very similar route but decided on a 2488 MkII. Cheaper but I should really have got into the PC DAW thing.
 14. The 9v 3-band Demeter in my Wilkins Jazz is really lovely. Rich, sparkly, with lots of harmonic overtones. Uses a stack pot for Bass and Treble and a separate mid sweep pot. It's paired with two DiMarzio Ultra Jazz pups. It's small too. I have two 'vettes and it would easily fit the cavity I think. Want pics?
 15.
Nice lot. Where did you get the record frames BTW? P
Thanks gents. The frames are from a shop called TIGER in Ealing Broadway, it's like a tiny IKEA. £4 each. We have 28 of them up there.
 16.
Just read all 16 pages. Thats cools. Now waiting for the photos....
Me too, amazing! I do wish some of them would stop giving the credit to a "miracle" though. This GE guy is responsible for all this, him and the ley lines
 17.
Yeah I'm always picking those up off my garden, bloody kids, there's a bin on the corner they could be putting their unwanted piano parts into.
18.
Yay! Thank God for that. I was starting to get REALLY nervous....
Me too, can't find the damn things anywhere, it's like there's a world-wide shortage due to a Jamerson revival or something.
 19. Been talking to James at Stringbusters. Thought I would let you know they are expecting a big delivery from LaBella in about a week. He is going to let me know when they arrive so I'll post here when they do. I can finally get the double ball ends I so desperately need for my Steiny double-neck. I've so far had to live with D'Addarios So don't go buying any crap flats out of desperation
 20.
Gotta say the Wilkins does it for me too (not that the others don't! ). Spotted the albums too, including Hillage. (Mentioned in a thread elsewhere previously) I saw Gong in Hyde Park in 70-something. Caravan were also on the bill. Can't remember who else now; it was Gong and Caravan I was mainly going to see. Awesome day.
Ooh look, we joined BC on the same day me and thee! I really miss those free festivals - I used to play quite a few in Wales in the '80s. I think I've only paid to go to a festival once and that was the Lovebox three years ago to see the B-52s. Otherwise, I've either been playing them or they've been free anyway.
 21.
I clicked through to a website or myspace from a three piece band from a basschat post recently. It was from the signature. Really liked it and wanted to get the band's tracks or CD but now I can't find it. Memory like a ... like a .... like a.... you know, one of those things you strain cabbage with... Anyway if that sounds like your band you may have a sale
What was the name of the band, or the name of the BC member? Either would help. Just kidding. What was the music like? Male or female vocal? Any lyrics you remember? How many fingers am I holding up?
 22. I had one myself, a 5 string fretless conversion. It was really nice but I realised a 5 wasn't for me and I sold it. It sounded incredible, like an earthquake piano.
 23. w***er from the local pub! What do I win?
 24.
He he. Yeah, I guess it sounds weird on paper, bloomin' works though Glad you like it mate. Eude
I really do!
 25.
OK, hands up! I saw Hillage on the Green tour at the Rainbow in c.1979/80, can't remember exactly when (seems appropriate given the ganja haze at the gig). Awesome guitarist but preferred his earlier stuff - how do you think I spotted the album cover?
Mate, I so wish I was there, I read so much about the Rainbow, I was so jealous stuck in shithole Coventry and not seeing my heroes.
