2. Come on, cut them a bit of slack, will you guys? I had a subscription to the Angling Times (a weekly) until recently, it would almost always arrive days, even a week late, sometimes not at all. I cancelled it. It was sh*t. I've not seen complaints about BGM arriving late until now, give them a chance eh?
  3.
It's playable, and the neck isn't bent like a banana? It would certainly help me if I was in the market...
Likewise, told me so much more than the photos. I am certain it's not a dog like the ones I've played in V&R. It has good tone, it sounds like it feels responsive and lively. Some of the ones I tried sounded like I was playing them under water. I think they are extremely helpful.

Here you go mate, I've used them a few times, they are ace. http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/The-STRATosp...p;submit=Search
  5.
Holy crap! I was just thinking "that looks useful, might give one a go..." then I saw the price of it. For a black 5-string one to match my Status, plus tracked shipping, it's £120. I'm liking the mouse mat version right now.
HOW MUCH!?! That's ridiculous. I would have thought £35 - £45 would be perfectly reasonable for something like that.
  6.
I think I'm in love.
Feeling it.
  7. Regarding the vids, er, WOW! I think you will start seeing offers, it seems to be everything a good Jazz should be. I can even get a feel for how it feels, springy and responsive right? Nice one! Salute!
  8.
Vidéo number 2 here @wateroftyne: My english is not good I didn't understand what you ask te me , you want me to discuss the price ?
I think he's having a pop at me actually, my decorum is obviously not what it should be. My apologies to all, but bassmasta did not seem to have a problem with it, and I was actually trying to be helpful at the same time. Plus, it's certainly keeping this bass at the top of the pile and no numbers were mentioned. Cheers, N
  9. I am so trying not to derail your thread here mate But your statement .. "If you want to know if a vintage Fender is good or not and just with pics , just look if the bass has been playing a lot or not, it is simple , a crappy one is in 2009 in museum condition , this one in 30 years have a lot of playing wear, I don't think differents owners played it so long if this bass wasn't a killer one . " .. is simply an interesting theory with no grounds in reality. We would all like it to make sense because it would make buying a bass at distance much easier, but it doesn't make sense at all. I'll leave you alone now, sorry. All the very best with the sale, I hope it goes soon.

  11.
good point... ... i wonder too..
Probably one of those early types with the multi grooved saddles.
  12.
take your chance
Thanks mate, I appreciate it. However, I'm about to try out another BCer's Jazz killer for a few days, I think it will be what I need, indeed I'm expecting it to blow me away, but if it doesn't thrill me, I'll PM you with what I consider a reasonable offer. I think your biggest problem is that it's going to be pretty much impossible to try your delicious looking Jazz before buying, and Fenders from most eras are notoriously variable in feel, playability, tone and quality, so buyers will be unwilling to take a chance unless the price point makes it worth the risk. I've played a fair few vintage Fenders, and most have really disappointed me, but the exceptions were fabulous. If it was me selling it, I would be tempted to make a detailed and close-up video tour of the bass, and see if I could convey what it actually feels like to play, springy, rubbery, taut, slack, snappy, responsive, etc., etc. It is difficult, I know, and subjective. But if it really is a great quality Fender bass and you want what it's worth, I would invest a little time. Photos don't really paint a thousand words in this case. Cheers, Nigel
  13.
Open to offers in PM
Hah hah! But if I PMed you with an offer of what I really think it's worth, I know what your answer would be, and I'm feeling a little delicate at the moment
  14.
I picked my copy up today in WHSmiths. It's nice to see Basschat getting the plug despite misspellings and old photos. Curious to know who is in the photo.
The photo is of the most recent SE BB.
  15. She's gorgeous! I think you will get more interest if you drop to a more reasonable price though. You're probably better off hanging on to her, you obviously love her deeply.
  16. Top man! Nice work.
  17.
Standard set-up on basses is that the E is slightly higher than the G (due to the physics of string oscillation)... not sure why you'd ever have the G higher than the E!
Yeah I know, very odd.
  18.
Higher on the G string than the E string... is that correct or a typo? Only ask as it's usual to have it the other way around.
Funny that as I was reading some reviews of the latest American Standard Jazz and P basses from a couple of years ago. The P supplied had the G lower than the E, the Jazz supplied had the G higher than the E.
  19. Yeah, best of luck mate. Nothing to be nervous about, remember you're auditioning them too.
  20.
Seriously that neck looks amazing.
It's exactly what I'm after, block and bound, I really like the idea of the soaps too. The only thing I don't like is the decal, the custom offset one is in the wrong place (I think, I'm no expert). I just have this feeling it's worth more as parts
  21. What's the action like? Is it active? Does it play nicely?
  22.
Yes, every electric bass player should learn to play upright. After all, the double bass is the electric bass' direct ancestor. They go together like bread and butter!
That's a bit like saying we should all shag a chimp isn't it?
  23.
I found the same type of attitude. The first thing I asked was the price. When the female assistant told me I just said "Oh!" She then rather sarcastically said; "So you'll be wanting two then?" I didn't bother to ask anything else.
I was in on Friday and saw the '64. Didn't try it. I found the general quality in there to be quite poor. There was a 77 P-bass which had a very odd neck and nut. Jazz width, E tuner strangely aligned and a very weirdly cut nut with uneven string spacing, they knew nothing about it when I asked, although they were generally quite helpful and chatty.
  24. Got mine from WH Smith today, there's a small feature by ped on the BC SE Bass Bash, with photo.
  25. Think you could be right, cheers.
