1. Hello mate, what does AV mean please?
  2.
No problem man , the price is based on other jazz bass gold , look this one in perfect condition : Here on ebay Price is 3800$ , mine is all original , bridge AND electronics is original too ( look at pots code ) , the small crack and repair was done 10 years ago by one of the best luthier in Paris , there is no problem with that is more solid than a new neck .
Fair enough. She's a beauty that's for sure. Be interested to see what she goes for. Will you let us know? It's all down to what the market will bear in the end, as I've found out recently, a few times Thanks again, Bassmasta, appreciate your clarifications. Best wishes, Nigel
  3.
The bridge is original.
Thanks man, wasn't sure. Cheers
  4.
The price I have in mind is 2200€ -- or 1990£ , trade with passive rosewood precision Custom shop or vintage 70's.
Thanks mate. Sorry, I had a much lower price in mind, given the cracked neck/repair, non-original bridge? The electronics have been played with. Don't take that the wrong way, I hope you get what you need for it.

    .

I have to say, that really is the most unbelievable piece of wood I've ever seen, absolutely incredible.

I didn't know Graham Norton played Alembics?
  7.
do you have a money figure in mind?
I just looked at that TB thread and there's a geezer on there who reckons one went for $3000 on ebay so I think that link is there for a reason
  8. Bump for an awesome bass. I reckon these are the best all-rounders with character money can buy. I adore mine.
  9. I played one of these last week, I was seriously impressed. My only gripe was that the fingerboard felt and looked dry. Some Dunlop 65 would sort that out in a flash. Low action, great feel. I even like the colours. Have a bump.

  11.
thanks for the answers guys... I guess i´ll replace my Fender JB V with the Hohner... I can´t stand this gas anymore. hahah.. everything you say makes the hohner more tempting... i agree.. is an underrated instrument.. Thanks ! AlX
You won't regret it, it fits in a guitar gig bag, never goes out of tune, balances beautifully, change strings in seconds, great pups and tronics, did I mention it does awesome dub sounds too
  12.
My Fortress has the brass one and it's excellent. They use plastic ones now which are flakey (and sharp) but still work. I can't think of a reason why they changed them, other than cost and convenience
You had the brass JAN1, the JAN II is the awful crap one that has the easily breakable side retainers that rip you fingers, the JAN III is now standard and is excellent.
  13. Those Hohners are ace. Mine was an all maple Pro Jack Bass Custom. Growly, bright, and did the best dub sounds of all my basses. I regret selling it deeply, especially as it went for £100 on the bay
  14. I use a volume pedal. I would think on most passive basses the onboard vol could also be used as a tone control like you would on a guitar.
  15.
Crikey, none of that malarkey!, its just these come up SO rarely, its practically impossible to quantify a price. I have no intention of turning this into an auction, nor do I want to go the evilbay route if I can possibly avoid it. OK, based on what I have already been offered in swapsies, and what I know it could be worth given the CS treatment, and adding a bit for haggling, lets start at 895 ono, or swap/px for a basically *playable* Status S2. Yes its expensive, but very very hard to find, especially with working flanger pod, those fetch anything up to 100 on their own. Am I allowed to say "offers" now
Nice one! Sorry, I wasn't having a go at you, just venting slightly Good luck with the sale.
  16. Oh boy, if only it was white, been gassing for one of these for a long time. BUT, I have given up on this "make me an offer" business, it's nothing but a bitter game which has made me think the seller is thinking "I know what it's worth but maybe there's an idiot out there". Bung a price up mate, will yer?
  17. La Bella 760 : SOLD. Cut to Fender length. Tried them on my Precision and decided I didn't like them on a fretted bass. They've been played for about 15 minutes. No packet but I'll securely package them. £15 posted. Warwick Black Label Roundwounds 45-105. New and unplayed, I took them off my brand new Warwick and replaced them with my preferred DR BBs. Cut to two aside length. No packet but I'll securely package them. £12 posted. Cheers, Nigel
  18.
like i said, where is bass.or where can it go.....would you rather hear melodic bass lines that compliment the song, or would you rather hear super techniques that blow you away...somewhere in between for me... ive often thought that the bass is a slave to the music really, even if its play with some flamboyance , as long as it stays within it boundries...thats where it is most effective right?? lets face it, most of the public who listen to music dont even know the bass is there(which is a shame) but what will it take, to take bass to the level that other instruments are...im thinking this may never happen because of the nature of the instrument... sometimes i love the fact that its only us that realise the importance of electric bass, but i wish sometimes that other (non musician) people would think about what there listening to sometimes...as well as other instruments of course!! i very rarely come across anyone who says "oh i love that bass line" or "man i dig that guitar or trumpet part" ive often said that i play bass for the bigger picture which i stand by, but does our bass playing fall on deaf ears? are we slaves to the listeners as well as the music! oh i do think too much..
People know it's there even if it's only subliminally. In pop and rock and funk and reggae, the bass is a fantastic "mood attenuator". All instruments should be slave to the composition and to the composer's vision, although you can change that vision in some circumstances.
  19. Polished ebony, unlined, side dots on the "fret". Why? Because, as someone already said, it looks bad ass It also fits with the spirit of the acoustic bass and I feel more "spiritual" (if that's the right word) when I play unlined ebony.
  20.
Shame you need 5s - I have access to a couple of sets of 760FLS in 4-string sets only.
I just bought a set from Stringbusters, they have very little LB in stock. They feel "dry" compared to the ones I bought last year. Weird.
  21.
Why would anyone bother to put the tuners at the bottom and still put a head at the top?
Aesthetics
  22. I think you should try some Warwicks, or Warwick Rockbass. Especially the Corvette.
  23.
Looks like a wacky design competition. 24. Agree with what's said above. Small hands aren't really an issue. There are 5 foot high wimmin playing full size upright basses so don't worry, go with what you like, after trying many of course. I think a 35inch scale is possibly more of an issue, just go for a standard long scale 34inch, which most 4 string basses are. There are short scale basses though if your fingers really are tiny.
