I've never ordered through Thomann, but I have my eye on something. It isn't extremely expensive, but as you can imagine, not being able to play an instrument or see it can make this a little risky. I think my sensible side has prevented me from ordering, purely because I don't know how they operate. From looking at their T&C's, its unclear what happens if something turns up damaged/etc. I can understand you pay shipping back if you don't like it, but what happens if its faulty/damaged? Do you get your conversion fee back? Very confused... I wouldn't be so cautious, but I've just had a damaged parcel issue which is now resolved, but its not so bad if its a UK company.
Yes Fender UK will honour warranties that are still valid, and are also the ones who deal with fixes etc, although I will not recommend them to anyone. I blew a streamliner 900 and it took around 4 months to slot in a new power board when all they had to do was replace the electrolyte capacitors and some other burned out components. I used real electronics in Sheffield for my Markbass head and explained my worries for time after dealing with fender, they replaced the broken components and had it shipped back to me in less than a week. Anyway, I've been wanting to try the fender rumble heads to see what they are like as they seem similar in size to the shuttles. If Fender did end up make heads that were just as good as the shuttle I would have no problem buying one.
I can understand the frustration but how did you blow it up?!?!

I've just got the ball rolling on my own band (first time in a long time I'm getting what I want without compromise) and the guitarist is keen to have the bass as a prominent instrument, and just have one guitar. We both think it would be cool to have one of these for a few tracks...it would suit the sound we are going for I think.

I've got two Genz amps and in a way I wish they could carry on with their innovation. Yes, I doubt now they will be able to improve on the latest .2 amps and the current Streamliners, so its nice to have the latest and greatest, but I seriously doubt Fender will keep the same level of quality and innovation. However, I think two of the Genz chaps now work with Fender, which can only be a good thing!

Barefaced/GKMB500/US Precision,doesn't sound right
Musicman20 replied to karlfer's topic in Amps and Cabs
I'd try not having the master so high. Just use the input until it clips then drop back a touch, then master to suit. P basses are not notoriously sub bass heavy/mushy in the lows, more of a low mid kick which is why they tend to work in all mixes. If it worked through your previous cab and the same amp, its bound to be a cab/room related issue. Usually P's work with EVERYTHING. -
Can anyone help with this? Frustrated :(

Just keep at it...slow it down...get it right slow, then speed up. Trust me, this applies to virtually all of us on here I think. -
Barefaced/GKMB500/US Precision,doesn't sound right
Musicman20 replied to karlfer's topic in Amps and Cabs
The MB amps are not that clean...they have the GK sound/character....very 'GK'....big lows, tame mids (at 12 o'clock) and sparkly aggressive highs. It's a mystery. It might just be the match up doesn't work. -
Are you still in Gateshead?
Hiya...on t'other side!

Regardless of tone, I prefer the style of the TKS over BF but I'm a picky vain sod.
As Michael says, the 1126 is loud and kicks out stunning lows, in fact, it's the closest thing I've heard from a speaker that sounds like the Aguilar DI. The cab is bigger but as TKS have said that will add to the lows. This cab doesn't disappoint! I found I only needed to go to 11 o'clock on my head (AG500 SC, 250w 8ohms with this cab) and it was clean as. I don't doubt for moment that it could handle much, much higher volumes. I have to admit, from the couple of barefaced cabinets I've tried, I'm fairly underwhelmed with them, the TKS kicks out a better low end with like for like amp settings. That's not to say barefaced aren't any good, not at all. But with my playing through them I prefer Markbass, Aguilar and TKS. For those in the north east, I'll be dropping off the 1126 and 115 back with WoT tonight. Dan
Oh I need to try these! I'm temporarily without a car so I should have gone to the bass bash.

The options are endless! I can see these becoming popular over here.

Best Shuker I've seen.

They look great! I'm interested.
T To be fair, I don't think Genz production has been in the US for a while now.
No it's an overseas factory they've used for a long time so they have good connections etc...but a new factory to save costs could cost them in QC.

I think Fender are going for re-branded Genz gear. Whether it will be as good, who knows. Apparently its production is being moved to China. The safest bet would have been to stick with the products, stick a Fender logo on it, and continue. My Shuttlemax 9.2 and Streamliner 900 are going nowhere.

After all these years of salivating over the Aguilar DB cabs, I'm still obsessed with how pretty they are and how good they sound.
-
I just get bored on a P Bass, plus the Stingray feels more comfortable for finger playing for me. Don't get me wrong, a P is great, but its just the same old.

Max 9.2. Killer amp. Or the standard 9.2.

Out the factory neck shims: Are they common?
Musicman20 replied to MisterFingers's topic in Bass Guitars
Never had to shim but no doubt most of my basses have a factory shim. I don't have low action...more like medium I think. I like to be able to dig in hard and not cause any issues. -
I think once these become more readily available I'm going to get one. They look beautiful for £270!
It's a good question! To look at them, you can tell no corners whatsoever have been cut in the fit and finish. They're incredibly tidy, as I'm sure everyone who saw them at the bash will attest. The standard 112 is an absolute bargain, but the driver is ceramic so it's bound to be cheaper than the neo cabs in the range. That said, the neo stuff is still extremely reasonable when you compare it to what else is out there. I've got the Neo 112 here (the black and white one) if you want to have a lend?
Cheers WoT!!! Ill see what I can do and when it'll be best.

I would have liked to pop down yesterday but due to preparation for work etc I was not able to make it. These TKS cabs look absolutely fantastic. How do they make them without breaking the bank?!

Gorgeous new little Amp from Ashdown - CTM-15
Musicman20 replied to Grand Wazoo's topic in Amps and Cabs
The LB was a much nicer design, from an aesthetical point of view. -
If you had to make do with one bass - which would it be?
Musicman20 replied to Black Coffee's topic in Bass Guitars
Stingray.
