1.
I love my shuttlemax, knobs everywhere!
Exactly. I also have very minimal EQ amps like the Streamliner and Orange AD200b. All varieties are fun.
2. I've only briefly tried the RW Jazz, but I tend to prefer a slightly fatter wider neck despite having small hands. I learnt on a P bass so a Jazz nut can cramp my hands sometimes. This bass doesn't feel like it has a super skinny neck to me.
3. PMT seem to be doing very well, but please sort the website! EDIT - It is better than it used to be!
4. Don't regret the past guys! I'm 'lucky' enough to have managed to still get involved in music a lot as a part time hobby and play/tour when younger, and still study law. I just spaced everything out...didn't rush off to Uni at 18,waiting 2 years, didn't rush to law school, waited 2 years etc. I even had a few years before I actually trained. So, I'm older, but I've enjoyed A LOT. Basses? My 'most expensive' bass is a Musicman Classic Stingray 5 in Natural/maple board. It plays and sounds every bit as good as the money I paid. Wonderful instrument. Unless I came into serious money, I doubt I'd EVER spend more than £1700 on bass. I'd rather have lots of mid range £800-1400 than a couple of £4k instruments. I imagine one of the collectors on here has the most expensive bass, and I imagine it is a vintage Fender. Either that, or a super high end Fodera.
5.
If Jason spent the day with it with the owner, guessing that means one of two things: 1) A CS limited run of '59 Protos 2) The owner wants a replica to gig. Very cool though! Si
Imagine having the kind of money to be able to walk in and just say 'I want a replica'. That is when things are great in life!
6. It is lovely. I wonder what it sounds like! They should definitely consider a re-issue special edition of something like that.
7. I've never seen that. Is that the actual prototype or is it a master build custom shop? I presume its a prototype? Looks VERY clean.
8. Mine is going nowhere. I know we ALL say this, but I've not had a Jazz bass this comfortable, ever. So I intend to use it as much as possible and keep it.
9. 9lbs is decent.
10.
https://instagram.com/p/BH0OkmDgsl9/ Ooh. Shell pink MM.
ON MY! They should offer a MIM Roadworn version of this with a good quality Musicman style pickup + pre-amp. I'd pay a good £1000+ for that.

12. See - GuitarGuitar need to be more on the ball with things like that. They did well with my order as it obviously came straight in from Fender, quick check by them, straight to me. They shouldn't be misplacing gig bags with brand new basses...and really shouldn't be sending it without it as inside my gig bag was a very thick layer of padding that Fender seem to add for shipping. I know it is a minor thing, but still. You should have a gig bag, handful of bass tags, and a small sealed bag with leaflets, one being about nitro finishes. Their Ghent store is new isn't it? Wonder why they've gone for that...not sure how Brexit will affect it.
13. Some shops showing pre-order, so they must be coming back!
14. I imagine they just didn't take off. The expensive relic'd ones looked awesome, but lets face it, most people aiming for that would get a Custom Shop P bass as the resale is much easier.
15. Maybe the initial run was a brief test, and now the main production will start? Still weird that Europe had these before Fender even announced them! I checked my box and the shipping from Fender was May (serial matches the bass so it's the right shipping box etc). Weird! But, I much prefer that to products that aren't available for a year (like the Peavey micro amps).
16. Hi all I fancy something fun and new effects pedal wise. I think a synth pedal could be really fun to use. Anyone tried one of these yet? Extremely tweakable for a small pedal.
17. Not so far off a Genz Shuttlemax in layout/size.
18. When I pick mine up, it doesn't feel 'heavy' at the body. It doesn't want to dive, I don't think, but the body doesn't feel as heavy as I expected. No doubt the tuners are pretty weighty but they look class.
19. I caught some of the T in The Park gig last night. Whilst I will always like the band, it just ISN'T the same live without John. It loses some of its funk, feel and melody. The backing vocals just aren't strong enough. The guitar seems much quieter in the mix and the solos don't 'soar' with sustain and melody like they used to. Flea and Chad absolutely kill as usual. Every time I see Flea play I want to pick up a bass; he is one hell of a player. He used a Modulus and his new Fender MM pickup Jazz and both growled and punched like crazy. EBMM really should have made him a Flea signature....
20. I've put a few basic tones up on Instagram (I barely have time to play never mind setting up proper recording ) but my account is private so if you are on it, let me know. Ropey playing as I've been playing guitar a lot more recently. The more I play the more I'm impressed. I wish I had more time on my hands to play music but the next two weekends are packed solid. Chances of me fitting in much time with it are slim. Super impressed. If you get the chance to buy one, do it. I cannot see how this is the price it is. It is like a 'economy' custom shop Fender...in terms of the finish and feel. it is immediately comfortable. I just don't know how they do it, and yes, I was sceptical of the 'worn in' feel but it's not a myth! Stacked pots? I see and hear zero disadvantage. I prefer it to the normal Jazz Vol/Vol/Tone! The way you can blend is far superior IMO.
21. Spent 2 hours at low volume fiddling with a Bass Soul Food and compressor. All I can say is I was literally 'wowwed' by how perfect the tone is. I prefer this to my American Standard I think!
22. Does anyone know why I can't quote?! That is actually not bad for a re-issued bass with a limited run that obviously required engineering and design to manufacture again. I really would like one of their passive models but I'm waiting to try one. Sorry, totally OT!
23. The latest Musicman prices are unfortunately quite insane. My favourite brand/manufacturer overall, but I feel the latest prices (I've seen Bongo 4HH basses for almost £2000!) are just stopping the sales to people who would normally splash out (although not all). I don't think I could now pay nearly £2,000 for a Musicman unless it was one of the special models in a colour I craved. I can see the reason the Smoothie and PDN's are more money, but a Ray 5 H for £1900?!??!
24. Has the price of your Old Smoothie gone up?!??!
25. Yeah, I love Musicman basses but I have picked up some insanely heavy Stingrays. Normally just 4 H models as well! The 5's I have, and the Bongos etc are pretty decent weight wise.
