1. Sansamp/Tone Hammer (or other DI type pedal) is the easiest way with great sound. Personally if I had the extra cash, a Markbass F1 would be in my collection. Very small, very light, and a tight punchy tone.
 2.
Nice DB212 mate! i have a DB210 its fantastic! really portable and surprisingly loud for such a small cab. i'd love to get another one or maybe a DB115......
That DB210 looks like a great size, and it comes with casters as well doesn't it? I bet it packs a punch. Nice picture
 3.
I have 2 x GS112 and they really are amazing sounding cabs. I run them with my Genz Benz Shuttle 6 amp and I have no need or desire to change either.
Very fine setup. I hear great things about the GS112s
 4. Well, just to finish off the review, I sold on the White/Tort Precision I bought off Clarky, as I was putting the money towards other basses/amps/cabs. BUT, I then found another brilliant example of a 3 Tone Sunburst Precision w/Tort plate and rosewood neck. Same great features, 2009 model. This had been set up with stunningly low action by the store, and ive left it like that. Yet again the colour is excellent. The rosewood just has that extra softness when you are playing with an ever so slightly warmer tone.
 5. Im slowly coming around to the Bongo shape, and that looks great! Unfortunately im out of cash now, but good luck, great price!
 6. The DJ was still much nicer! I very much doubt these new basses will hold that Lakland magic now everything is all change.
 7. Jim If I was nearby id more than likely have it. Cannot believe this is still not sold. Classic 4x10.
 8. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, but I have a feeling Aguilar will release a lightweight line soon. As long as they stick with their usual program, I'd be tempted. It would have to be quite something to match this DB212 though.
 9. Personally I'd stick with the White...it works. Brown tort is the best tort there is but it doesn't look as good on black as it does White or 3TS.
 10.
Hey Gareth, yeah thats a great help. My Corvette has a super thin neck. It did take me a few month to get used to the longer neck and the first fret position but now its fine. So how would you descibe the sound if nothing like a Stingray? Tight, punchy, clean, smooth. Would be really interested to hear your thoughts.
I think I came to the conclusion I'm a EBMM fanboy, so I'm biased towards them. The $$ is definitely Warwick...it growls and has the signature mids. Quite smooth overall. The pre amp was something I couldn't get used to but that's me. The Ray H is exactly that...classic Ray aggression, bitey mids, cutting high n thuddy lows. The $$ will give you a lot more options over a single H Ray by far. I quite liked the whole Warwick package, but jumping to a 5er with a totally different neck and a shape I wasn't used to was perhaps too much of a jump for me. I think if you already like Warwick, the $$ gives you a lot of options. Maybe if you like the more classic tones another Warwick with single coils might be the key.
 11.
I've sold my 75 Jazz so now I am thinking about getting a Streamer $$ or LX. I like the idea of an LX but its too expensive new and very unlikley I will find a second hand one in natural Ash. The other option is the Streamer $$ but again quite pricey new and again unlikley to find a second hand one in natural ash. I'm also a bit worried the $$ will make it sound too similar to my stingray considering it has the same pickups.
I can chime in a little. I really wanted to like the ex demo Streamer 5 $$ I had for about 3 days but I just didn't gel with the neck, and more so first fret position. If you already know you like that, you might like the $$ as it sounds very different to the Stingray. Totally different tone to me. Hopefully this helps.
 12.
The producer guy who does judging on American Idol was playing one the other week *checks on internet* Randy Jackson. Can't remember who the singer was, but he was rocking out on a Big Al in her band. This may well solve some GAS issues. It may cause some, too ;-) PS I am forced to watch American Idol. Honest.
Yeah, I think they made him a one off colour, and Randy is getting a Reflex as well. Lucky man! Personally, I still think Im going to love this bass, despite its crazy looks.
 13. Thanks chaps! Im quite enjoying the funk...I think its because I have to concentrate more and its bringing my fingerstyle to a level im almost happy with.

 15.
Well, I have had my Gallien and Krueger MB210 a week now and wow, what an amp, as for power, it absolutely blows away the Marshall MB4210 I had previously, easily keeps up with my band without being anywhere near flat out, lovely tone too, and as for weight, its unbelievable how light it is, I can pick it up with two fingers !! Well worth £500 I love the contour control, really makes the band sound full, the drummer and guitarist love its tone and power ! 10/10 for me
Hi! Glad you like it, and a picture would be fantastic. I have heard great things about this combo.
 16.
Personally I blame you. Obviously the retailers have seen your glowing reports on here and decided to put the price up for every one else It is a bit strange. I know when I asked in my local dealer they said fender were short in stock and they were waiting on more coming in before putting in a stock order. I wonder if the new stock in Europe has included with a new price too. OR Maybe it's because of the Tories
The $/£ rate was so poor last week. I blame that. I ordered all my EBMMs very recently but before any rises, thankfully.
 17. Nice! I didnt realise how creamy Sid was. Thats exactly the colour im hoping the Stingray Classic turns up like...vintagey yellowing white. MMM
 18.
Ok I'll concede, you know what sound I like better than I do , your amp sounds better than mine at doing my sound, and your equipment is much more reliable. And your gear makes you a much better player I better start saving...............
Oh heck, please don't go thinking there is any sense of snobbery/pretense about high end gear. Basically, my advice is use your own ears. I wouldn't listen to anyone trying to tell you what's the perfect amp/cab for you unless it's just general advice on a tone or style they are aware of. That's what the forum helps people with. Nothing has to be silly money...seriously. I could and nearly did spend more on speaker cabinets, despite the fact I have what I consider to be top notch kit. It's all down to you. Lots of players buy the uber high end then I see it for sale two weeks later. It might be for you, it might not be. There is, and I fall foul of it, 'hype' regarding a lot of kit. You just have to decide for yourself. Example: The TC RS cabinets at first seemed odd to me. I didn't even consider them, but I really liked the amp. Only when I heard them a few times did I understand what they were aiming for. Not only that, a direct comparison of the cabinets with more expensive ones on a sound clip a player produced showed exactly the differences. Eg, hardly anything. So I ended up selling a Berg cabinet. Yep, it was awesome, loud, and small, great tone. But, I realised it wasn't 100% right for ME. Another issue: beware advice from any store about anything that involves you spending a lot of money. Do a little research before. Unless you know the guys/girls personally, it could just be pointing you at the most expensive product. Once you get high end, the differences are minimal; it's down to your preference.
 19. If it's a metro, keep the OW.
 20. Is it a NYC Sadowsky? Excuse me if Ive missed that....
 21. If I had the cash id snap that cab off you...Ive always wanted a 410UL.
 22.
If you have the money and like the idea of owning something expensive then why not buy it but it won't make you play any better that's for sure, and you will probably get the same sound out of something a third of the price
I agree with what you are saying, BUT, there is one issue with certain manufacturers of high end amps. Pair up, for example, the Markbass amps with a Bergantino/Aguilar/Markbass cabinets, and it WILL show you more of a full picture with your sound and technique. I thought this was a load of tosh until I heard it myself. Those pairings are so precise to your sound that any poor technique will show very quickly....obviously it sounds fantastic and exactly as your bass should, but your technique needs to be spot on. So in the end, some players might actually benefit from hearing themselves so clearly. Its not quite the same, but almost the same as comparing a guitar with tube distortion, with the same guitar without tube tube distortion (totally clean). If you arent that good on guitar, the distortion covers it up a little.
 23.
Wait... the only thing that I tried in the Bass Cellar was the Big Al. The rest of the bits were in all the other shops up and down tin pan alley.
Ah! I see... Its weird that there a few of these basses dotted around the country. I did pass a few of the stores up here just to see if there was any stock, to test out. Unfortunately no, and not only that, after I asked if I could try one, their quotes were MUCH higher than what Im paying (and no doubt you to after our PMs). I got the whole 'only just released, so very expensive' as I didnt realise how things work.
