1. Nice simple and quality looking instrument.
2. It's almost July. What on earth are they playing at....
3. 'I Promise' from their B-side collection of 'OK Computer', now re-released as 'OKNOTOK' is definitely a strong track.
4.
The presenters follow up by saying every act was amazing or brilliant, it would be great to hear one of them say that was f*cking sh*te.
This is brilliant. I am very cynical and I agree, there are some bands that probably did sound absolutely awful.
5. My partner doesn't like particular downbeat/melancholic music, but I sometimes thrive off it, depending on who does it. Radiohead have a way of taking me somewhere when I listen to them. They are a pretty dark band, and extremely original and do not care one bit about experimenting to the point that it takes a few listens to even slightly understand what is going on. I think they do the UK proud as a band. Bold, original, loud when they need to be, artistic, and extremely creative. I really enjoy how they use their instruments and I've enjoyed learning the more obviously recognisable guitar parts like 'Airbag'.
6. Death From Above (1979) have been doing the same bass/drum duo (but much more aggressively on their older material) for years. Royal Blood basically do a poppier version of it. Much more clean cut. Cool to see bass as a lead instrument, but yeah he has nicked this idea! I think they are decent but the main reason I am off to see them is to see Black Honey and At The Drive-In.
7. Funny that, Blur and Oasis formed my early teen influences along with the usual heavier USA bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana....I'll never have a bad word to say about either band or their members. Liam might wind you up, but I personally like his swagger and sneer; far too many people don't dare say anything in this modern age, yet Liam just carries on winding people up. I did not hear one bum note, in fact he was really putting an effort into his vocals if you ask me. He sings quite aggressively, almost like he is having a fight inside him to get it out, and he voiced a generation of kids into listening to old classic bands like The Beatles, etc. I live in Manc and the support for him, especially since the Arena bombing and his effort to raise money, has been impressive.
8. If sales have decreased over here (especially for the American Fender and Gibson models) it will all be down to the higher pricing we've seen over the past year. I love buying Musicman instruments but through no fault of their own I won't be buying for a good few years, maybe longer...the current UK pricing is far too high on most good quality instruments due to the £.
9. Never been keen. He is a fantastic songwriter for that 'type' of music (ballad/pop/slightly upbeat) and obviously talented, but I've never once listened to anything he has written and thought 'oh I like this', and I am happy to say I listen to a lot of modern pop and rnb...but he doesn't work for me. Well done to him. Much rather see a full band like Radiohead and Foos. Gallagher was a highlight for me.
10. Chowny or EHX Bass Big Muff. Aguilar make amazing gear but the recent prices for what you get are massively inflated in the UK.
11.
Perhaps we should start a group on here of BCers who will commit to buying one, and once we have achieved whatever the price break point is, place all our orders with the UK retailer who can then also benefit? If a UK retailer could let us know how many and how much?
Great idea. I'd love the D800+....
12. No doubt amazing quality but just doesn't need to be that expensive.
13. Probably the only big USA manufacturer of basses and guitars that I trust to get virtually everything if not everything perfect.
14. They need to push the US series more...
15. Great pedal.
16. My Stingray Classic 5 is the best bass guitar I have ever played/seen/heard.....and I've played A LOT. The neck is fantastic. They have shot up in price recently, so now the 4 string is way more than my 5 sting cost, which is unfortunate, but I do see them as a premium instrument. It might sound similar to your standard 2 band....but that neck....!
17. I'd like to see Aerosmith again (probably one of my favourite 'rock' of that type) but I can't be bothered to travel, get wet, and spend about 3 days at work knackered afterwards. I love gigs and I'm off to see a lot over the next 9 months, but I'm losing interest in more than 1 day outdoor events. I kinda wish Aerosmith played Manchester...as their own solo gig, and I'd 100% go!

19. Would be great to hear what the onboard bass drivers and compressors are like! Also, octave up/down and fuzz.... I'm now in that zone of 'probably want it, don't need it, probably WILL buy it'. Just seen the effects list...a lot for bass. If you play both instruments it looks like a great unit.
20. I disagree. The swagger is his personality. Just because some guys in bands age like uncool 'dads' does not mean other people should follow suit. Just look at the RS and Weller. Weller is a very stylish guy and the younger generation love him for that....plus his music is fantastic. However, even without the swagger, you cannot deny the song writing ability of songs like: Gas Panic Acquiesce Slide Away Talk Tonight The Shock of the Lightning Cast No Shadow ...these are songs that don't get the hype that the big singles achieved....
21. The problem is, even as primarily a bass player, i'd much rather watch the guitar videos. I don't think it is the presenters, I think it is more related to the fact that two basses noodling around isn't that exciting. They need a guitarist or even some electronic drumming to just 'play along' whilst they demonstrate how the bass 'cuts through' etc...or provides a good backbone to the band. Maybe even play along to backing tracks...with the bass high in the mix.
22.
This to me is quite clever. Almost every multifx has its critics in relation to the dirt and fuzz . This embraces it. Use your favourite dirt boxes in the proper position in the chain, and let the boss do everything else. Brilliant! Im Not up with fancy switchers etc... does this allow you to mix andatch what loop gets used where? For 3xample could you have two patches identical apart from loop1 and loop2 switched in order?
Exactly. I have an ES-8 which I'm yet to delve into but the only downside with this MS-3 is you can't change the order of the external loops without physically moving the pedals. Not a HUGE deal as there are only 3.
23. To be fair, they are DESTROYING the competition in terms of online presence. Recently, they have started to stock: Spector Darkglass Chowny LOTS of Musicman ...the list goes on. Whilst I am no longer in the market for any bass gear apart from the odd pedal, mainly as I don't need anything but also because recent prices are insane, I would imagine Andertons would get my business on new bass gear due to the great service they provide. Places like GAK just cannot compete.
24. Jees. That is awful service and in my opinion is worthy of a separate thread to warn people.
25.
Something I should know? Should I stop being polite ? I went to msl and got a response in about half an hour, hopefully I'll get a better solution from them direct.
I have given them chances time and time again. I would probably do it again. But, I have to say the service I have received from them over my gear buying years has been pretty poor. I would be firm but stay polite...I really don't think the wear and tear you are experiencing is acceptable.
