Maybe they're just testing the water and watching our responses. Then next year they fill all our wishes even AT's 9 string Chapman stick,but they'll show their cruel side and release it in 2 parts as a 9 string bass and a stick. Seriously if they sell enough of the T-birds there's a chance for variations. Not looking for another 5 string but I'd be tempted by a white T-bird. Though who would buy my Epi sunburst T-bird then Just going to email Thomann now. I'll mention 5 string in white. Email sent. just have to wait and see if I get a response Pete

There was a 5 string Peavey Foundation on ebay and I think I was the only bidder.The seller said the neck was out of line so that might have affected things. Paid £51 for it then gifted the seller another £25 which was still too little. Favourite one was, yes another Peavey ,this time a Grind. Seller had no reserve and it was starting at £50. Emailed him to say it was a Vietnamese model and he should mention that in the listing then posted here about it. Day of sale bumped the thread again and while a few of us were discussing the merits of Peaveys it shot up to £161. Don't know if us talking helped his sale but I'd like to think so.

You went for it subrob. Good for you. 1st thing to expect is a big double box probably before the week's out. I gave the sound samples a listen and it sounded fine,crunchy sounds coming from it alright.If you're not happy the 30 day return option is handy. But let's hope you don't need it and you're laying down heavy licks by the weekend. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think.

Foundation's a great bass and I've yet to try a Forum,be interesting to try one out. Never know maybe one day I'll get lucky as yourself

Paul if it's the same as the Milestone III It'll have a 38mm nut and weigh about 9 lbs. That was my 1st Peavey and the one that started me on the Peavey kick. I figured that if the entry ones were this good the others would be great. Now 11 Peaveys later I still think highly of the Milestone and it still gets played. CamdenRob I never thought it would end up like this.For years it was just the Bass Collection and an old Washburn then the bank/house thing happened and I started playing again. To save me de-tuning I looked on ebay and picked up the Washburn 5 string but I couldn't believe what you can buy these days. That was the baw bust as we say up here. You're right the house is better stocked than some shops,36 basses in 5 racks in the livingroom. All got for good prices, about 3rd under £80, 3rd under £150 and rest under £240. Still a lot of money I'll admit but I've been sober going on 2 1/2 years and well like I've said fresh start for me and the cat, better the benefits all around me than printed on a bank statement or in the publicans pocket

Cheers alyctes I put one on the Zodiac DE body I bought from Thunderbird along with Entwistle pickups. It's a monster. There's a picture of it in the Patriot thread I started on Thursday. And we have another Peavey fan. theplumber he's the man that outbid me on the Fury a couple of weeks back. Stays in the same town as me too. Has a Forum,a Fury and has a Foundation body with a Millennium neck to put together.

Another thing we have to consider is there's no middle man here. Thomann ship direct from the factory and the business model is for decent instruments at cheap prices. Higher volumes of sales at a lower profit margin also mean less capital tied up in stock. As far as the woods used, rosewood is grown in Asia and mahogany was transplanted to India in the late 90s are the CITES act. Most mahogany these days comes from India,Indonesia and Bangladesh, all from farmed estates same goes for the rosewood.All easier sourced than bringing from South America and cheaper too,with no lawsuits against like Gibson had for illegally importing mahogany from Brazil. Nowaday America imports it's mahogany from Peru and estimates are 80% is illegally harvested.Something to think about I imagine when buying American made these days. Where do they source their timber ? no-one ever asks. So labour costs are cheaper,materials are cheaper,no middle man to pay ( Fender dealership conditions are quite harsh) and most importantly no brand name. Brand names probably add 15 - 20% to the cost. When I bought my 1st Harley Benton the same question ran through my mind " How can they do it so cheap " so I had a think and did a bit digging and that's what I came up with. One really cool thing was a Chinese double bass builder who uses bridge pilings and support beams from buildings 100s of years old and condemned. That's recycling sure beats kiln or air dried timber. Do you think he includes part of the postage with the price ? I've never sold on ebay so don't know if their cut is different for items and shipping.

If theplumber hadn't got the Fury I wouldn't have tried America for the Patriot which led to the T-20. 10000 miles added to air pollution all theplumbers fault. But us in the building trade know " It's always the plumbers FAULT "

There's a couple of YT videos off them. Thomann just seem to have upped their game recently, I was reading a review of the new electro-acoustic and it's got some nice features. Can see another Harley Benton coming my way sometime soon.

AT There's no need for that. It's a closed chapter and I don't know why I mentioned it. Bottom line I've got my bass mojo back but he's still crazy just well-fed crazy Got some hours in with the T 20 last night, Man does it growl. The neck's not as comfortable as the Patriot and nothing like the Millennium necks I've got,the Foundations have a more jazz-like neck. But for that growl I'll learn to love it.
