  1. Pickup wires seem awfully short. AT One's the plate the other is a plastic back plate.
  2. There's a travesty on ebay just now. The Harley Benton butcher has took a jigsaw to a HB RB414 headstock and added a couple of £100. Even has the fake TR cover with R**k****r made in USA. How the hell it's not been tugged yet is beyond me.
  3. wjs guitars up here in Scotland have this prototype for sale just now. [attachment=192960:Layer Bass.jpg] The Layer Bass. Not quite sure what to make of it but as it's a proto anything could change.
  4. Excellent. When I saw them listed I thought 4 string passive with a Stinger preamp from Dave at ProBass only I've one of Dave's Evos which hasn't had the Stinger fitted yet so no HB Stingray for me Good to hear you enjoy your T-bird. Fancied going for one but my Epi T-bird has been neglected This will hopefully change, heard a T-bird with flats last week sounded killer,Chromes going on the T-bird Roll on August. Is it passive or active in your mind ?
  5. This mean you going to order one Mark ? Not long till August
  6. Just got back from work and heard the news. Damn.
  7. @AT Hopefully the Tune will arrive by the weekend. Will get it bolted together and try it out. Really interested to see how the A/B with the Bass Collection turns out.
  8. Well it's Jap but definitely not crap, least I hope not I've went and bought that Bass Maniac project wotsy posted a couple of weeks back. I'd saw it but passed as I always wanted the fretless one reviewed in Guitarist mid 80s [attachment=192216:Tune_fretless_Bass.jpg] I was offered one this week but the asking price was shall we say unrealistic.30 years I waited then had to say no,was gutted Anyway there's the Maniac project and a 770mm Wenge fingerboard on it's way to me. Will I combine the two ? Chip in with any thoughts folks. KB
  9. Beauty of a bass. I've saw it listed in all the right places this weekend and TRBboy's right it's a rare fish indeed, Jazz pickups instead of VFLs or P/J And the PRICE ?. Good God man what are you thinking ? An absolute gem of a bass at a steal of a price. 5 strings and a hand injury rule me out I'm afraid. Have a BUMP
  10. Why are the string winds like that ? Unless it meant to mean after 30 years of playing the owner still couldn't fit strings properly.
  11. 2nd vote for Flightcase Warehouse. I bought 5 and 7 multi stands from them last year and the next day service was great. Helped that the stands were on sale too.
  12. Reckon £90/100 is cheap enough alright Go on treat yourself. No plans for moving my Milestone either, great basses
  13. AT thanks for the heads up. I thought that one was over in the US. Tell you what that is a fantastic low price for one. I think I paid £250 for mine from a car parts dealer in the States. If anyone is interested in the T-20 I'd recommend you buy it quick. They don't come up too often over here. Back to the Millennium. Bass_Guardian if it's cheap enough go for it.Sound and playing wise it's a step up from the Milestone. Not that I'm sneering at the Milestone,I still like playing my own Milestone III .
  14. I like your thinking there Geek99 Well happy with mine so I bought 2.
  15. Got a couple of the active ones Alex. Think they were around £150 s/h. Dead easy to play due to the thin necks. Indonesian model has a truss rod wheel adjuster and Chinese one's a normal allen key at the nut. Both the Tiger-Eye and the Violet finish is good and they're light-weight. Let me ken what other info your after.
  16. I take it the search for 9 strings continues
  17. My 5'er comes in at just over 12lbs. Not really deadly and I found it played surprisingly well. It was really only bought as a gimmick and at £60 with no scratches I can't complain. [attachment=191477:Wesely Plexi.jpg]
  18. Woah AT Where on earth did you spot this ?
  19. @blisterman You just made my day. We'll get some arrangement made for definite. Black tapewounds !! it just gets better. I'll PM you next couple of days or feel free to contact me first.
  20. So reshaping and painting the headstock plus changing the machineheads means £100 custom work. £400 BIN who the hell are these chancers ?
  21. AT I've seen Dekos posted on Sunday mornings and also on Saturday nights as well as through the night. Strangest time I've saw them get posted was last Hogmanay. I don't know what was worse, Somebody still working then or me browsing for bass guitars. It was around 10.30pm.
  22. alittlebitrobot It's just a reflection of manufacturing costs in China. Thomann buy direct from Saein and use a small mark up/high sales business model, so no middle man, others buy direct but use a higher mark up/high sales model then the distributor adds their mark up then the vendor. It all adds up but Thomann are both distributor and vendor so those costs are saved. Win win situation.
  23. These are also available as active models. MM-84A and MM-85A, £126 and £139. There were also another 2 Deluxe basses added today a Rosewood veneer PJ and a Rosewood veneer JB. Neither have a stock date yet and are priced around £140. Oh both have Basswood bodies under the veneer.
  24. Always a breeze dealing with Paul. No fuss no hassle. Cheers Paul I think that pickup will go in a Squier for my laddie.
  25. Don't forget Tony Gad from Aswad has played a Bass Maniac for years. That man has got some heavy bass tones from such a lightweight bass. If it was the piezo fretless with the extended fingerboard I'd snatch it.I've only been waiting 30 years for one GLWTS
