Maude's right only Harley Bentons get sold as dekos. Returned items of any brand get sold as B-stock and any broken Harley Bentons get sold through their ebay shop. They did have a HBZ 4 a few weeks back £150 odd going for £59 if I remember right. Lasted about 4 minutes. Anyone looking to score a Fender P as deko is looking at the wrong thread, maybe if the thread was called Harley Benton decoration only basses folk wouldn't be disappointed when they don't see Fenders etc. Too late now there's been a deko buying frenzy last few weeks.

I've straightened quite a few necks using the same method Dave uses in the video but never tried to take a twist out. I've a couple of ideas but having never tested them myself they could well be useless or be a long road for a shortcut. I'll have a good think about it but the main idea I've got involves a lot of work. Keep you posted.

The clan here welcomed another couple kin last week. I'd been talking to a friend about his Dyna bass and wasn't it just an active Foundation ? Turns out it's more than that. Still got that slim neck and the 2 super ferrites but the added preamp was impressive he said. So after the slight mishaps with the T-40 rebuild on Boxing Day and while contemplating my next move I spotted a Dyna over in Florida at a very keen price,even by American prices. Sadly Wednesday was the Charlie Hebdo attack and a new bass no matter how nice was getting posted about. Strung with those Rotosound Nexus I like so much it really sang and apart from the B-90 has been the easiest USA Peavey to set up. I think the Schaller 3D bridge on it is a great design Then there was this on Thursday. It was on ebay for $299.99 BIN ,the last I saw went for $450, with 12 watching I emailed the seller would he ship to Scotland and he said yes but never replied when I asked how much. Up to 16 watchers by now so I email a friend in Chicago to buy it. Word of warning here : trying to get a drunk friend to set up a PayPal account and an ebay account using FB messaging is murder and when they forgot to write down passwords multiple homicide. Getting him to ship was another nightmare but once handed over to the P.O. went a dream.6 days from Chicago to Scotland including the time spent with customs. This poor thing had the worst neck bow I've seen and the truss rod had been cranked to hell. Once I could reach it to slacken it spent the last week clamped to create a back bow,yes it was that bad, but I got there in the end. Today I finally got to play it

Point was ubit that's roughly £90 of parts on a £90 bass but my JB-75 cost £33. How do they match ? My PB-50 eats my Squier Affinity for breakfast, hell the £50 PB-20 does that. BZ 4000 it holds it's own against my Cirrus and Millennium and I prefer it to the Vintage V1004/5s. I reckon you a bloody good deal for <£100 but here it's half price dekos that rarely need more than a set up that's the topic.

Wish I could help with the model Flat Eric but in either 88 or 89 I bough a Wal. Cost me £500 used in Monkey Business and they gave me a case for it,was the first time I'd played through Trace Elliot gear too It was sold shortly after for flat deposit money when I went back to Scotland. All I remember was it had an XLR fitted 2 passive pickups that had switches on them and a leather scratch plate. ubit My JB-75 came with Wilkinson tuners £25, Wilkinson bridge £12, Wilkinson pickups £30 - £40. D'Addario strings say £12 - £14. Ash body and a Maple neck. Where's the cheap plank ?

The wee Grestch Junior comes in around £200/240 and is lightweight too. Molan There's no way I'm going to ask what the order was for. That's company business alone. Judging from the products for sale the charge could be on products retailing at £2000 odds and the company would go bust up to a retail value of £32,000 where it's about 5%. That's still a lot of money but in line with normal business practise. Import duty is 3.5% and Customs Clearance is £8 so the importing company's fee isn't high. As the VAT is pasted on to the customer it's not at issue here nor is the cost of importing and insuring small quantities of valuable instruments. My problem is Fender,Gibson et al banning companies from selling direct to the UK and forcing us to pay prices they set, not what the UK shops have to charge.It costs no more to ship a container from the Far East to the UK than it does to ship to the US. That's why I used the Squier example. I said those companies won't get my money not the shop used as an example. Hope that's clear, this is not a dig at UK shops.

Even allowing for 4% import duty that was still a £40 price difference I quoted and that was with the VAT removed.As you know VAT is pasted on to the Buyer in country,you buy in Germany you don't then pay VAT in the UK. We're not talking about unique items here but stock goods. Fender have distribution centres in both the UK and Germany so shipping is greatly reduced though it will be costed for.These centres supply the whole of Europe and that's a lot of basses. I showed two companies selling the same item,both with overheads and staff to pay yet the UK store charges £72 more or £40 once VAT and duty are removed.Remember these are store prices so all costs are ready included. Do you really think it costs anything like another 20%. I'm not singling out the UK shop it was the first I compared with GC. Skelf You know as well as I do Fender ship containers over to Europe and the orders go out from there. Shops don't contact Fender for stock directly they use the rep. What you're describing is different.Importing raw materials from overseas is not the same as ordering from a central depot. Here's a thing I've noticed about " price fixing " if that's the right term. Go to Guitar Centre and set the country to UK. 59 basses come up. No Fenders or Squiers but 22 MTD and 11 Rogue are listed. You get the same result with Sweetwater and Musician's Friend. It's in the t & C if you look. Protects the dealers over here but also tells me if the US store with overheads can sell items at $299 say where are all the £240 deals for us. Squier VM Jaguar SS costs $179 at GC that's £119 but it's £191 from PMT even allowing for 20% VAT that's £48 more. Remember GC have already included their costs in the $179 and US employees are subject to minimum wage and benefits too 25% more to buy a Squier in the UK then and the main reason I'll not buy any Fender products,it's the same with the other big players. They don't get my money either.

I've never saw the Custom Line advertised either. I was going to say an old line but they might be prototypes. Mechanical defects on the guitarron probably just mean faulty tuners AT. Email them for more details. I did regarding payments as PayPal is not a listed option.
