I have one those plastic boxes security firms use to carry cash around. It's super strong, spacious and the envy of many. I've been using it for over 20 years. I found it in the back of an abandoned shop (sadly with no cash in it).

How did he pay? If it was PayPal their buyer protection doesn't apply to items collected in person. Not sure that'll help, but it does give the buyer less leverage.

I've got a set of unopened Ernie Balls I bought in 1997. I think I'll wait another 20 years or so before I use them. I'll report back on here when I do 😂

A red Marlin Slammer, bought second hand in 1989. I somehow managed to snap a small section off the pickguard of when I fell off a drummers Bass drum mid-song. I gave it away about 6 years ago and have come to regret it. I'm still a P-Bass man though. I've finally got round to doing this mod on my Squire Telebass. It does indeed tame the tone.

I've spent time thinking about this myself and I've come to the conclusion that the best thing to do is buy one of these Warmoth 8 String necks, which have a standard Fender pocket fit, and fit it a Fender/Squier body of your own choice. http://www.warmoth.com/Bass/Neck/8String.aspx Should come in around your budget too.
