1. Hi all, ok...so i'm in total new territory soloing! - I'm jammin some funky stuff with another band and we got this groove based around G pentatonic (G7) and thats about as far as my theory goes. So i want to construct a solo, should it be around the notes of the G pentatonic scale only or can i go elsewhere? the groove is repetitive holding on the G and C notes of the pentatonic minor scale. I'm not too hot on theory but kinda understand modes ish etc...can i play any modesover the G7 chord-as i say I'm groovin' a b-line on a Gm pentatonic. Please forgive my dumbness!
 2. Did you get my PM?...not heard anything back-i'm good to buy if your interested? If its gone no prob's Cheers, rasta
 3.
I recommend you sell the EA combo and use your Eden amp with a new 15" lightweight cab from barefacedbass.com. I use the same driver as the one in the Big Deep One and it goes very low at high volume and is amazingly light.
Niceness, just been checking their website-looks very interesting! What do you reckon to your Big deep one? Did you get the hartke head in the end mate?
 4. Pm'd mate.
 5.
lots of choice out there and I have listed lots of the currently available 112 cabs on the basschat wiki. I would be inclined towards the Aguillar DB for your sound but its not that light.
Thanks for that Bass-ferret, the Wiki made for a good read. I have had another BCer offer the DR bass cabs, does anyone have any experience of these?
 6. Ok, if you see my rig to the left then thats proper back breaking heavy!-i call it 'Wom' as it makes that sound at gigs, i think the 'W' may stand for Wom! - This rig is used in a eight piece reggae band and another heavyweight Dub band in which they all help to carry at gigs etc, otherwise it generally lives in our studio (thankfully). Anyhow, about 3-4 weeks ago i bought a EA Iamp350W combo, from a B/C er, in the hope that it would be suitable for doing some other stuff mainly funk, light reggae, and ska with another band. I had used an EA head before so was quite excited at owning one which lead me to this purchase. Now understandably the EA Iamp 350 (1x10) will not compete with a Warwick 6x10, thats obvious science, but i am looking to get some warmth in a small rig but in some thing that will go upto 350W ish. So i thought to myself i'll keep the EA head and perhaps buy a 2x10 or 1x12 that is lightweight, or at least significantly lighter than the EA Iamp 350 Combo (trust me looks are elusive as it weighs a ton!). I read and totally agree with B/C er Warwickhunt in the lightweight cabs thread that 2x10, 1x12's can give as much lows as 1x15"s therefore i am probably preferring this to a 15" (anyhow i have a heavyweight Fender 15" cab when the need arises). Interestingly i have met so many so called reggae bass heads that insist you need at least a 15" cab or 18" cab to get good reggae bass sound...this frankly is a load of twoddle as most reggae bassists that i have seen use mainly 'the fridge' Ampeg 8x10 or similar, with Bob Marley's bassist (Familyman Barret) being an exception using a 4x10 & 15" generally these days (granted years ago he used 15"s and 18" but that was before the science bit was done about more smaller speakers can move more air more efficiently). So i digress, can anyone recommend a decent lightweight 2x10, or 1x12 or if small and light enough a 15" at 4ohms or alternatively i have seen a Markbass combo Berlin for sale in the for sale section which i believe is a 15' and lightweight...would this be a better option??? (which would eventually mean the EA would be up for sale) - Lightweight and a bit of phat are my needs. My current budget is about £400 + whatever i could get for the EA and + i have an Ampeg 4x10 for sale too which is in the for sale section and has been for a while so i think that'll be off to the evil bay very soon. The wifey may lend me some dosh for the Markbass Berlin combo at a push, and cooking for a fortnight, but only as long as i pay her back after selling the EA etc. Save my sanity....give me direction, guidance, support, therapy, advice...even sheer help! If i'm to keep the EA iamp head then a cab would need to be 4ohms and i need something soon too as i have some of these funk gigs coming up (this will see me having to carry my new rig for the first time in a long time....real bummer, must be light man !) I shall now return to rocking franticly in my chair whilst listening to 'Bitches Brew' backwards!
 7.
Partial trade considered for high end cab (Schroeder or equiv.)
Was postage an option??? Am in negotiations with the wife....bloody hard work! but will be intouch.
 8. Bump me baby one more time! ooooh Britney!

 10. Well wid a name like me rasta I&I is obviously playing ina Country & the Western muzik..... I play with reggae/ska covers functions weddings spliff party band TRU STEPPAZ (No not Victoria Beckhams backing band...however if the money was right....well!) - www.trusteppaz.com Also play UK roots dub bass with Daddy Teacha www.myspace.com/daddyteacha (think that's the address) & Have a new project on the go called the Stoned Bones Dub collective - Tunes/riddims etc on my myspace www.myspace.com/booyakalee I also (and theres more) am the mainstay bassist of Shropshires finest Booyaka, who upon my depart to Devon was replaced by my good friend Max who went on to become that pants band called the Kooks bassist(he obivously lost the Funk, but i hear he has now left the Koks so perhaps has found it again)-anyhow he's richer than me by far so good on ya Max and you owe me many a beer - Booyaka still continue as a local legend and i get together for two or three re-union gigs/festi's/pissups etc www.myspace.com/booyakafunk currently i am looking at depping with Plymouths finest groove funkmeisters the Circus of Sound...well funky www.myspace.com/circusofsounduk & i have gig tonight with Tru steppaz....Irie!
 11.
Why do you need it to be 4 ohm? If you want it as a cab for smaller gigs/rehearsals and you were going to use it with your Eden WT800, there'd be plenty enough kicked out of that Alternatively get this 8 ohm one and add another 8 ohm at a later date
Main reason was to use with my EA head and i want to get the full 350W out of it @ 4ohms, the Eden rig lives with another band really-plus i have no room to keep the Eden etc in my small house, i want a small loud funk & reggae rig using the EA head and i think the 10" speaker with the EA combo is blown, hence wanting a separate lightweight, but loud, cab @ 4ohms
 12.
Have a bump on me for great cabs especially with the tweeter. The DB112 also got a very good review when BGM did a shoot-out between 1x12 cabs.
Bummer, wish it was 4ohm...can you fit some kind of inline resistor that makes them 4ohm? - Please forgive i know very little about speaker electronics!
 13. Where do you buy these cabs new from? A 4 ohm would be ideal for me! Do they handle low freq's well...i.e. Dub sounds???
 14. aaaasssshhhh Bump it, bump it real good!
 15.
pmd
This post is still around! Bumpinkins
 16. I passed on the 55-02 to Machines (glad your enjoying it mate) in a 3 way swap and ended up with a JO5 from Thunderthumbs....i have to truly say the JO5 is the best Jazz bass i have ever ever played, and was much than what i was looking for in a bass...amazing !
 17. Hi despite my beasty as in my picture i am looking for a 2x10 for a smaller rig for some other band stuff that i am doing. I have an Ampeg USA made BSE 4x10HLF, its rated 4ohms and 400W. Has tweeter too. very nice sounding cab and in excellent condition (hardly used to be honest as i have the Warwick 6x10). Am looking for a 4ohm 2x10, the louder and lighter the better although i can live with heavy....loudness is the main thing! This is more or less the same spec, although mine is a BSE4x10HLF http://www.ampeg.com/products/b/b410hlf/index.html The cab is based in Devon
 18. [quote n The x is a mute note. Sometimes he only plays the one high 'C' rather than three of them, etc. I've spaced it so if you count the empty beats as semiquaver rests it should be easy to get the timing right. Just don't get confused thinking the bar line in the middle is a chord at the first fret.
Nice one matey, i was very close but a few bits there for me....much basslove
 19.
I have decided I need one cab as opposed to two so I am looking to trade my cabs for 1 4x10.. The cabs are a Hartke 2x10 XL and an Ashdown deep 1x15 They are in excellent condition. and are located in Bury Gtr Manchester
I've got a great Ampeg 4x10 Hlf (uSA made..not the cheap china ones!) that i would swap...but alas i am in Devon. If there's anyway of working it out i'd be interested! it has wheels too 4ohm 400W, i hardly use the 4x10 as i have a 6x10!
 20.
Are you wanting tab for it or something? I could probably do that for you, but it's really easy to work out from listening to the intro. If you're officially giving up, say so and I'll knock up a tab.
thanks thisnameismistaken, a tab would be most ideal...and massively appreciated....thanks (just the main groove i'm sure i can improvise around it a bit as per the tune)
 21.
Ooooooh! It's that song...
Yeah...thats the tune....well funky...but how d'ya play it?????
 22.
The one I bought from "yesikris" has now been passed on to "Rasta" as part of a three way bass swap between him, myself and "Machines".
Yes, was a perfect 3 way swap as i was after a Jazz style 5 string. Machines was after a funky 5 string and Thunderthumbs was after a Stingray....so the story unfolded: I had a Lakland 5502 which i was able to drop off to Machines in the midlands as i had a gig there, damn fortunate as i live pretty close to the equator here in Devon (bloody rains more though). Anyhow i picked up the Stingray which i tried out briefly for a bit of reminiscence of my Stingray i owned many years ago - great sound indeed. Machines was a super dooper guy and initiated to the world of Lakalnd and i felt the 5502 went to a good home where it will get the groove treatment it deserves, it is a funk machine the 5502. I too funked out with my old band legendary funk band 'Booyaka' www.myspace.com/booyakafunk that weekend with the Stingray and had a funky good time, albeit copious amounts of hedonism and a gig in between! Alas i return to my southwest abode where Manchester based Thunderthumbs is taking a holiday in Newquay...damn fortunate again! He visited me in Devon to bring the lovely Lakalnd Joe Osbourne 5 string to swap for Machines old Stingray. The three way swap was complete! That night i spank away my fingers on the JO5 and yes it was total instant love, i'd say the best Jazz bass i have ever played actually......its true!....so there we have it the tale of the 3 way swap of 3 of the finest basserteers....all happy with their new swaps and a feeling that bass players trust is somewhat similar to the bonding of true Jedi's.
 23. Cheers guys, yeah i was thinkin of doin the chromatic thing around D7 ish...still it'd be nice to know what is being played. Can anyone help with Expansions....if you haven't got the tune get it! Damn funky man Lonnie Liston Smith "Expansions"...think i first heard it at Glastonbury in the early 90's...well funky repetitive b-line...just wish i could work it out!
 24.
Rock Steady is a fabulous groove. You're right, it's an A 'verse' with a D bridge. Honestly, don't bother looking for tab or anything for it, just give it a lot of listens and play along with it. It's all about feel, and you'll never get that from tab or transcripts. It's a mutha, you'll love it. A 2 note bassline has never been so funky
Whats those runs in that D bridge though...my ear isn't that good...knowing the notes would help, but yeah man i feel the riddim...or rhythm i should say in this case.
 25. Hi Folks, I'm a 3 note reggae guy usually but i'm going to be jammin with another band soon and need the music tab or score or even just the riffs noted on ere' I heard that old Greg had lost the Funk soooo i'm on a mission to find it again (God & Bootsy willing!) Looking for Lonnie Liston Smith 'Expansions' (thinks its around C Pentatonic ish) & Aretha Franklins 'Rock Steay' (Thinks its A minor ish & D Bridge or Chorus bit) Any help would be massively appreciated!
