1. Alex a PM is obviously comin' your way -
2. Where are you based?
3. I must admit for recording i'm using my Ashdown Electric Blue 180 combo with a 12 inch, loving the sound i get from it DI'd. However I gigged my Ampeg SVT rig the weekend, nuff power and the right sound for me-although i swear the ampegs are not as loud as stated on the amps. I guess it depends what sound you like on stage-i like it to sound on stage as i'd hear it out front so very warm dubby phat but defined-it's surprising how much power you need to get that defined low end! People think its crazy asking why you need so much power? but us reggae players need speakers that push that low end without farting and the power to get it heard & felt....it's a very different science/art compared to many other genres getting 'the reggae sound' - and then there is technique but thats another thread.....
4. Anybody wanna swap for 8ohm 15" speaker. cab...would consider just the speaker also as long as it is 8 ohms!
5.
I used to just dislike it but now I am starting to really hate that f***ing goofy American ska sound. If I ever bump into Reel Big Fish I will punch each of them in the face.
+1 - Trojan, Studio 1 etc = Ska - real ska rude bwoy!!! - 'The amount of bands i gwan see at a festi billed as ska band, i see dem, dem na ska' (Spoken as if Lloyd Brevett was beside me!)
6. Sorry guys, not going to make it-gutted. Got an important rehearsal to do tomorrow now. Have fun anyhooooo X
7. Hi, i've got a Hartke 2x10 (i think its called the 2.5xL),really nice and underated cab - top of the range, anyhow if you fancy a deal?
8. Any pics? 8x10 Sorry i should have said amp (SVT Pro 4)
9.
damn, this is exactly what i'm looking for but i'm a little bit further away than you're looking for
ah bugger, where you based?
10. How shallow? Would an Ampeg amp fit in it? - cheers
11. Hi Folks, I've a Hartke 4x10, aluminium cones, 240W @ 8ohms has two bass ports, no tweeter, Great cab!!! - looking to swap for 1x15" @ 8ohms, ideally alu hartke but any 15" or 18" considered. I'm Devon based but will in Birmingham 23rd & Lincoln (Nr. Spalding) 24th July if thats any help to anyone.
12. Yeah love JTQ, 'A few useful tips about living underground" is awesome but Corduroys 1st album think its called 'Dead mans cat' is a fav
13. I've got one that i take out with my party festival band, really like it (although would swap for Ampeg BR2E-hint) - will be using it tonight playing mashed up prog rock & dub in the early hours. Can get good bass out of it for my sound too!!!
14. Bit old but Galactic, Lettuce, G-love & the special sauce, Cordroy are worthy of a check if you haven't already
15. I use two SVT 4x10HLF's - they're very boomy bassy cabs if that makes sense, ideal for my dub sound. I think the Eden would give you more mids but the HLF is one hell of a cab for dub!!!
16. What sort of value £ do you put on this bass ?
17. I briefly noticed Shakira's bassist switched between 4 & 5 strings....however i didn't notice what basses they were as i was totally transfixed with her hips & bootie
18. PM's replied
19. bump for pics
20.
This used to be my Bass, Bought it new from soundslive in Newcastle & had all the mods done by Dave Wilson http://www.dwilsonguitars.com/ I'd have this back in a flash if I had the spare money !!! Good Luck with the sale... Ghost Rider
Cheers ghost, yeah really nice bass...its sounds superb with the new PU's too. I'm really torn between pursuing another bass like a Hohner Jack bass or keeping it but then its too nice to sit around being a spare bass.
21. It may have to come to evilbay...shame to see it go there
22.
grr... I'm fighting with myself not to raid both my accounts and have this off you!!!
You know you want to Not only a great VMJ but 75rI lookalike (The decal is really good!)- a badass II bridge, and the Entwhistle pick ups are really superb, i will buy these pick ups again!!! The old pick ups will be thrown in too. Plus I have my eye on a Jack bass on ebay but wifey will not let me buy until i have sold something....help a brother out as i cannot afford it
23. Bump fopr still here, nothings really taken my fancy so far. The ATK looked nice but i've a MM Ray so that kinda covers those areas. Any other offers guys w.h.y.
24.
! IMO pre Ernie Ball is the only real Ray. None and I mean none of the EB Rays I've tried come close to the real deal. It's only my opinion!!! So appologies to any EB Ray fans.
+1 For Pre EB's
