Thinking about getting another one and having it sprayed lake placid blue - with the tort plate it will look superb!
My apologies for going off topic but where do you send your bass bodies to be sprayed Lake Placid Blue? I've got a musicman body that i want to get done someday. What sort of cost is something like this? Been looking at the CV Squire P too but have decided on the CV Squire Biffy Jazz as that too is Lake Placid Blue...and well i'm a J before P man - who knows P maybe on the cards one day, really like that LPB 51 reissue P also but can only afford one Squire soon and i'm 99% sure its going to be the Biffy having recently tried one.
1 Aston Barret yes,but "Bootsy" Collins ??!!?? youre 'avin a giraffe incha? good at "dress up" yes, playing the Bass guitar? not so sure! well am sure..no. & dont quote "Groove is in the heart" at me, a dismembered animal could have come up with that!! oh...and how "hard" it was with James Brown...just...."dont" I'll probably be saying sorry for this in the morning!! but Bootsie? I must have missed the meeting on that one!
Niceness, you will regret it in the morning Although i know what you mean to a tiny extent, Bootsy is not the most technical of players but he is a legend none the less......I prefer more of his early solo stuff and the P-funk days with a MUTRON and yes the JB's too. Is it the B-line in Groove is in the heart or the message you don't get? There was another funkadelic message that said something like 'Free you mind and your ass will follow'..... ....Not everybodies taste but i dig!

I've tried the SVT 8x10 and loved them, however i tried the SVT4x10HLF and enjoyed the thickness and wooly deep bass tones more....so i bought two HLF's and have the flexibilty of using just one at smaller gigs, the sound i use is a wall of bass-ideal for my reggae. Sounds amazing with my SVT pro 4 too.

Has anyone any idea how much this bass would really be worth?
Raslee replied to Grand Wazoo's topic in Bass Guitars
I reckon my limit would be around £550 ish (but i'm far from any expert on this)...nice finish on that bass. -
Thick reggae sound for me generally, mostly bass @ 3 quarters all the way, mids just a little on and treble virtually off. On my bass I role my tone back 3 quarters too and if using a Jazz bass configuration then i pretty much exclusively use the neck pick up only and play close to the neck join.....although i do occasionally switch to just the bridge pick up if i am doing a some fast modern ska -Simplez. My rig does most of my onstage work anyhow, thick , phat and belly pumping sound system stylie

Rock-Pop Covers Band Set List Suggestions Please
Raslee replied to twowheeledwriter's topic in General Discussion
Being summer and all that why not chuck in a bit of reggae, Marleys Stir it up always goes down well, or Dawn Penn's No, no , no, or uptown top ranking is another classic. Failing that Hendrix's Fire, Some Chili's- Give it away is fun, James Brown Get up off that thing etc etc -
FWIW i've got a 79 Ray but it has the John East Pre EB pre amp and a Nordstrand Pre EB equiv pick up, sounds exactly like my mates all original 78 Ray, not any difference to either of our ears. Paid £750 for it IRC. Great bass, has all the zing of the MM sound and the warthm of age, although the body had has a refinish. I keep thinking about stripping it back to the bare wood but a) i don't know how too & i don't know what lies beneath. Also if i were to sell it i reckon i would try for more than £750 - afterall the seller did say i got a bargain too. However if any one has got for sale any vitnage mutes or pick ups or pre amp for pre EB Stingrays please do get in touch because i would like to restore the beauty to 'kind of' all original.

Have had my SVT Pro4 for 3 weeks now and it is like a liquid silk explosion except louder, but anyhow i love it to bits. I'm now running two SVT4x10HLFs too (Bonkers) but easier to move around than the fridge, plus i prefer the hlfs as they go lower. But yeah the sVT pro 4 is a winner-i've tried many types of eq now and it has an awesome tone for pretty much any genre. After years of trailing Mark bass, Eden, Hartke, Trace Idiot, Genz Benz, crAshdown & Warwick i am finally GAS free for my main rig.........for now (and as long as my roadie drummer will carry it for me:lol: )

'Normal' Rehearsal schedules - EDIT: Oh what an update! Enjoy!
Raslee replied to Musicman20's topic in General Discussion
I guess it depends on what your rehearsing, originals or covers. I play in 3 bands and the covers band practices about once every 4-6 weeks, we just email the tunes to each other, nail it and then have a beer fuelled 4-5 hour practice a few days before a gig...with actually about 1.5 hours of playing Where as another band, essentially covers of learning the vocalists material, will practice about once every 3 weeks, without beer for this band and sounding good. On the other hand my party band that is writing original material practices every week, without beer, and seems to be going really slowly however the music is perhaps a bit more dififcult, kind of eastern ozrics gongy proggy dubby vibe thing - and we practice for about 2hrs weekly -
Had a lovely day out in Cardiff and dropped by to Cotsans to pick up an Ampeg cab. Lovely guy and held out until i had the monies to purchase this cab. Just about to try out the cab but looks in fantastic condition. Loving Cardiff by the way mate, really enjoyed a family day out there. Buyers/sellers deal in confidence. All the best, Lee

Recently sold my Eden WT550 to Laurenece. It went to a good home. Laurence is a great trustworthy guy and communications were great too. Enjoy the lovely world of Eden matey.

Fitted with Badass etc and the decal is superb....you'd be hard pushed to find better IMO

I've just bought an SVT Pro 4...absolutely loving it, weighs a ton, but worth it for the sound. I'm using it for reggae/dub and it performs marvelous and only just ticking over. Loads of options with tone and wiring - for me the perfect amp....as long as our drummer continues to carry it for me! Eden amps are nice too for warmth, but the Ampeg does my reggae sound just that little better.
