1.
This album, like much of his stuff is over-rated. I dont doubt he is an OK bass player but his music leaves me feeling cold and bored.
How odd.....
2. another vote for wharfdale.... make decent practice amps too !
3. Not a great excercise in brand marketing this !! So you build a reputation over decades as a custom builder charging £2-£3k for a bass and you allow your brand to be diluted down like this.... If these basses are Tanglewood built instruments - designed by Chris, then shouldn't they be logo'd "Tanglewood by Overwater"
4.
Ack. If only I could justify spending that much on a fretless!!
I know what you mean..... I bought a Jaco C/S off beedster a few years ago when I had a weekly "acoustic" night residency - soon as that gig fell over I had to sell the fretless..... I wish I could justify a good fretless again, so much fun to just mess around with Big thumbs up for Martin too...... top geezer to deal with, but you all know that anyway !! ATB Mark
5. This is really nice...... I'm sure I played this when it was in the OW factory.....
6. Cool Bass !! Take a Lakland 4-94, mix it with an Alleva Coppolo and look what you get !!
7. Haway Mick man...... you can't do this to me !!!! I had an afternoon at Micks a few weeks ago, let's say we didn't struggle to find a nice bass or five to pick up (Alleva Coppolo and a pucka 66 Jazz) including this baby !! Let's say for me... this one was the pick of the bunch ! I'd have took bought this Bass there and then for £1500 notes (and considered it a bargain) if it had been up for sale Grrrr... I'm spent up now !!! ATB Mark
8. 400 (Aguilar) Watts into a quality 410 like the GS will produce bucket loads of volume for most gig situations If it isn't enough..... take the other one as well ! I regularly used to take both 410's but only plug in the top 410 Unless you're playing stadiums (where most of the time you'd have IEM's anyway) you'll never need more than you'll have with this set up
9.
Thanks guys! How do you see these GS410 in the 8 Ohm version? These ones are available just now in my dealer and I can pick up those cabinets at a slightly better price than the 4 Ohm ones. I know I get half of the power with the 4 Ohm cabs, but maybe the head works better and cooler that way and the sound will be the same... or better. Sorry for the bothering but any experience that slant the 8 Ohm GS410 over the 4 Ohm ones? I know I'm irritating but is a great investment just now for me.
I forsee a gig situation where a pair of 8ohm GS410's driven by a DB750 wouldn't be loud enough ! In reality the difference between a pair of 8ohm and a pair of 4 ohm wouldn't be that noticable give the power and headroom of the 750 at any 4 or 2 ohm. Arguably the 8ohm cabs will sound better due to more efficient cone damping at 8ohms Buy the 8ohm GS410's and live happily ever after
10. Sorry Guys SOLD PENDING PAYMENT Thanks to all who've expressed an interest and offered trades etc, some really intereting offers, but cash wins the day !! Can't recall selling anything on here with such a huge response ! ATB Mark
11. Owned both...... used them both with a DB750 live and the GS410's with a DB680/DB728 (see avatar) The DB410 is too thick and lumpy (for my taste) with the Aggie amps..... GS410 is a better live solution at volume Mark
12. Bump for a really nice instrument
13.
So when I've seen ya struttin about in ya lycra shorts with a tennis racket tucked under ya arm that's what ya really deein!
Errr.... yeah !!
14.
Bathroom scales?
so last century..... We use the Wii Fit
15.
What does eet weigh Monsieur L ?
It's definately on the lighter side for a Jazz..... Not sure i've got the "equipment" to give you an exact pounds and ounces.... it's certainly under 9lb though Mark
16.
Dam it!! this looks gorgeous! im looking for stuff to sell now! lol
Hey Chris you've got no need for any new basses with those 3 beauties !!! Oh by the way forgot to say..... it's on the lighter side of mid weight for a Jazz I think it passed the Warwickhunt weight test - LOL !!! ATB Mark
17. PM's replied to..... I'll try to sort some pics ASAP I may have some from the prev owner for now...... i'll look through my emails ATB Mark
18. Guys, Beautiful USA 75 Re-issue Jazz Bass in rare factory Sunburst (totally original with lovely brown leather look case) Made in 1999 (first year of production when they did a couple of finishes other than the Natural) The bass itself is a really nice example which plays sounds and sets up perfectly.... Anyone who knows me knows I don't buy anything other than the best examples of Fenders I've learnt a lot about what a good Jazz bass looks & feels like (from buying some dogs) and this one is from the top draw. I had the advantage of an extended trial with this instrument prior to purchase, so be assured from that it's a belter !!! The bass being 11 years old is starting to gain some MoJo in it's own right, not that it's worn or anything, far from it, it's in superb condition with only a couple of little knocks, but the maple board and neck has a lovely aged patina to it which just looks superb with the sunburst and black blocks. As far as price is concerned it's £800 firm SOLD PENDING PAYMENT I may be persuaded to take a Squier VMJ or CV - but not really interested in PX as I'm selling to fund the next stage of a custom build PM any questions or give me a call 07818 044187 Located North East ATB Mark

21. I've got a USA 75 Re-issue..... My only bass ! It's from 1998 where they did finishes other than Natural - This ones a Sunburst/Maple/Black block & bound It's got a 1 piece body (bit unusual) and is built really well (custom shop standard) Weight is on the lighter side of the Fender Jazz spectrum Sounds like a good 70's jazz should and set up perfectly..... Being 12 years old it's starting to get some "vintageness" of it's own and has a lovely aged look to the maple neck & board Job done !
