1.
... that's the way ... uh huh, uh huh ... I rather like it ... uh huh, uh huh ... that's the way ... uh huh, uh huh ... I rather like it ... uh huh, uh huh
You see, that's how you personalise a cover version.
2. £1000? For that PoS? Shurely shome mishtake?
3.
No a mandolin is one of those chef things for slicing veg and removing fingertips. Far more useful than a 15 string bass, if a lot more dangerous.
Fingertips? Pah! Who needs 'em ...
4. Got it! It's a lefty.
5. That bass doesn't look quite right ... can't put my finger on it ...
6.
... and I doubt that image is a chubby bald guy in his 30s.
aaaaaaAAARGH! You've blown away my dreams ...
7.
Tbh I think if he filed the nut and tweaked the neck to within a knats c*ck of being level, then took the pickups out, replaced them with a haddock and finally advertised it in Mahooosive Hands monthly....he'd sell it in minutes.....
The haddock thing interests me. I had in mind maybe a flounder, or perhaps a pair of herrings (with a coil tap, natch).
8. I reckon I'd play a lot more fretless if it weren't for the fact that my main band's sound is built around a slide guitarist ...
9. TYPING EVERYTHING IN CAPITALS MAKES THE ADVERT MUCH EASIER TO READ, DOESN'T IT?
10. A DB that has had a hard life will likely be battered. I've no problem at all with that and, whilst I simply don't understand the appeal of relicing, if it's done well enough then you can't tell that it IS relicing. Buying a factory-made roadworn DB is not for me, but who cares? A badly reliced bass is something else again. Taking a belt sander or a Dremel Multi to any instrument is simply an embarrassment to the owner, or bloody well should be!
11. The stretchy strings is something you just have to live with. They never actually seem to stabilise. Get yourself some cheap talcum powder from Boots or wherever, dust your hands before you play. You'll be surprised how much difference it makes.
12. Bloody hell, guys, do none of you remember punk? As to "don't need to be a bass player", I was actually a bass player for 30 years before I realised it ... Hmmm ... nice use of ellipsis.
13. In prime condition that might be worth £1000 or so. It's not a Sutcliffe (it's a bog-standard mid-60s President), and the neck reset is the least of its troubles. It's obviously beyond a full restoration and will never be worth anything like £1000 but it could probably be brought back into playable condition for c.£100-ish (reglue the neck, replace the nut, ideally replace the unmatched tuner, sort out the wiring, new strings), so it should sell for well under £500. Now watch the market prove me wrong ...
14.
... it's not that long but feels like it is.
Not sure how this fits in.

16. http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_kahuna_clu_bass.htm In terms of bangs per buck, these take some beating.
17. Well I see you got your brand-new leopard-skin pillbox scrotal sack ...
18. None of my business, mate, but if you're selling a bass this high up in the spectrum you might want to take some decent photos. GLWTS
19. Hell, forget the trussrod, why would you buy a Chinese fake with a huge West Ham sticker on it?
20. Interesting ... I assumed you'd be rehearsing deep in the heart of Surrey (and yes, I know that Farnborough is actually in ... gulp ... Hampshire). Is the plan for this to be a genuine gigging band, rather than merely a bit of fun on the side or (Gawdelpus) a vanity project? If so, please drop me a PM.
21.
Never been a KC fan ...
Oh come on, the Sunshine Band were a great outfit.
22. I love the fact that the small hole "happened". It was, like, spontaneous y'know ...
23. I like the idea that it has "light sings of use".
24.
Incidentally, I grew up in Bedfont (Monarch Close...); seems strange to see it referenced here..!
As luck would have it, I'm playing The Bell On The Green this Saturday. That's a 10 minute walk away from Monarch Close.
