Yes I was a bit disappointed too hoping some Nordy's would drop straight in but it will obviously need some pickguard fettling. I'll take it off tomorrow and post a pic of what's underneath.

Looks like 19mm at the bridge

It's just landed and I really like it. The Cort Space felt enormous to me, this doesn't and is lighter than expected. Was set up really nice straight out of the box. The strings aren't my cup of tea and maybe a pup update at a later time but feels really good value for money at the sale price. I like the fanned frets too - takes no time to get used to them.

When I was deliberating whether to go for the 4 or 5 I thought the 4 looked like a toy and the new one doesn't look a great deal better. For £80 more the 5 looked like a much better purchase.( I'm a shortscale fan too) Will give it a try when it lands tomorrow and swap it for a Sire if it doesn't work out. I had a Cort Space which I thought was o.k so it will be interesting to see how it compares. I actually like the pickguard but will get a better colour one made if its a keeper.

The HILS are on sale now in Andertons - £479 for the 5 string and £399 for the 4. I snagged the last gunmetal 5 - not sure if they will get more in.

Flipping basses for profit – fair game or not cool?

Unfortunately I'm sad to say some have been veterans with considerable history and that's why my expectation of dealing with them was higher than it should have been given the way things turned out. -

I've actually had more trouble with items bought on here than on any other marketplace : short paid, warped necks, bridges hanging off, chipped paintwork, bulging frets and knackered electronics, sellers not turning up to meets etc. I've had lots of positive experiences too, but the BC marketplace doesn't give me a warm fuzzy glow like it did in the beginning. I don't expect the sellers on here to behave any different than those anywhere else from experience, there are some good and some bad. -
I love them too but you'd probably only get about £400 for it used 😁

I hear you. I'm picking one up from my tech tomorrow : he asked "Who's done the crazy truss rod adjustment " I didn't admit my guilt !

I bought the black version. Pretty much perfect out of the box - certainly no fret issues. I put LaBella copper core white nylons on it and it's sweet. A steal at the price.

It's going back - the shop wouldn't refund me enough to cover the work never mind the impact on it's resale value.

I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of a used guitar today from a shop who I asked to give the guitar a once over with a fine tooth comb. I got it out of the case to find this VID_20251015_114804851.mp4 The coil tap isn't working, the tone knob barely does anything and the set up is horrific having tuned it. I paid £1650 knocking them down from £1800. Should I send it back or ask for a big discount - it is a lovely guitar bar the faults. Ed.

Hi Matt, Nice to have another Liverpudlian onboard. Love the Wal tribute.
-
I have this one and definitely my favourite bass at the moment ....

I've got 1000+ feedbacks at 100% and I'm not going to bother with them again. You sell one decent guitar or bass and you are then monitored by HMRC - I'm not a business and I don't want to have to keep accounts to justify the losses I make when I sell instruments.
-
Yes leave good and bad feedback - let people know who they are actually dealing with. You can get carried away with the good spirited nature of the forum and whilst most people are gems , be as careful as you would when buying on any forum particularly when considering how much protection you have should things go wrong.

I was so stupid to gamble on the EVH - it worked out in the end but could have been £750 I didn't see for quite some time ( although I had used Paypal)

The website is down today - says due to technical issues. I agree with the post above - its always sad to see a music retailer go under.

If I buy one will it work on me ? 😄

A great birthday present for somebody I was struggling to find something for . Much obliged Jack !

Yes that's exactly what I assumed the reason was but it was enough to make me stop playing. It would be better if they had a max no. of tickets in any draw but I appreciate they are running a business so just need to sell as many tickets as possible and these big players are their lifeblood. I guess they will stick with the current model unless too many people get fed up with it or wrongly think something dodgy is going on.

And put a few more knobs on it 😁

I wondered how good the setup would be given they are primarily a computer retailer. Glad you found it o.k.
