  1. Yes no response to any of the forms I have submitted to them - the support form on the main and UK sites and message posted to the GTRS group admin on Facebook.
  2. Well the company that made and sold the batteries in this analogy are the same company who made the toy - I did try and take it up with them - they completely ignored me. The app was downloaded from the play store for free but was developed by the guitar manufacturer specifically to be able to use the guitar - it can't function properly without it
  3. But this isn't really like that as it should run on the current version and as far as I can tell does on none Samsung android phones.
  4. I don't see an android upgrade as a decision given the potential security vulnerabilities you could leave yourself open to by not doing it. Given that the phone would also contain other apps , by not upgrading you could also compromise them in the end and I am sure the realistic expectation from Mooer will be that users will update their phones otherwise they would have to stipulate this as a condition of purchase. From the manual : GTRSApp The GTRS App functions as the editor software for the GTRS guitar. Users can easily select effects and create presets for the GTRS system, download and share tones to the cloud, and update the firmware of their GTRS guitar.Several tools for practice are included in the app as well. 1 Get the GTRS app To me this clearly indicates the app is an integral part of the purchase and whilst not directly supplied by Andertons they know users will have to download it to use the guitar.
  5. I disagree with this - to me its like buying a toy with the batteries not included, the inference is that if you put the right batteries in it will work as it should otherwise you would return it. My phone met the designated specification and worked effectively before the change. I really don't think you can separate the guitar from the app as one won't work effectively without the other.
  6. No phone app only unfortunately. Thanks for the comments - definitely a manufacturer problem but my contract is with Andertons and whilst I appreciate the product would become potentially unsupported over time, after 3 months just isn't on given it cost £850 and I guess this timescale would be a factor in any fit for purpose claim.Mooer have completely ignored all of my support requests too so cannot pursue anything with them. the cheap phone is not a bad idea as a last resort, but would preclude me from any software updates and /or improvements which isn't what I paid for. I didn't change my phone -it was an android or GTRS app update that caused the issue. The guitar is supposed to work with Android 6 and later. Nothing back from Andertons today.
  7. I got myself one for Xmas and I love it too. Coupled with the PJB Double 4 and having created about 6 user patches, I'm getting some of the best bass tones I've ever had irrespective of the bass I'm playing through it.
  8. Yes I agree - suffered the same with Line6 gear in the past. But what is a reasonable timeframe for them to make it right ?( assuming they can)
  9. Last September I bought a Mooer W900 Intelligent guitar from Andertons : https://www.andertons.co.uk/Mooer-W900-Wing-900-650-Aurora-Pink-Headless-Fanned-Fret-Guitar/ It is intelligent in that it links to a phone app which allows you to access effects patches and different guitar models which are sent to the guitar. When it came I was overjoyed with it - it's a cool guitar (subjective !), the tones were great and everything worked like a dream. 3 months later after an app or Android update my phone, a Samsung with the latest android version has become incompatible and I am unable to do a firmware update on the guitar (missing out on new features)and the modelling ( the main reason I bought it ) no longer works. I raised support tickets with Mooer in 3 different ways and they have responded to none of them. I stumbled across a Facebook GTRS group and others are reporting the same issue with Mooer advocating to use a diffent phone ! Having got no satisfaction with Mooer I raised the issue with Andertons claiming the guitar is not fit for purpose and that I'd like to exchange it for something else under my statutory rights. To date they haven't been helpful with one response saying as the fault isn't with the guitar they wouldn't exchange it. I wasn't being fobbed off by this given that the guitar cannot work properly without being connected to the app and the intelligent functions ( some of which no longer work) are listed as key features. Yesterday I downloaded a template from the Which website and have given them 14 days to make things right. They replied by saying they will go back to Mooer for further information which I said was fine provided my issue has been resolved one way or other within the 14 day period. Am I within my rights to demand an exchange / refund given the problem is with the app not the guitar ? ( To me they are inseperable as one won't function properly without the other.) I bought the guitar on Finance via V12 - could I approach them for a chargeback if I get no satisfaction from Andertons ?
  10. I played a used 5 string in a local shop yesterday and really liked it . I've only got small hands too and it didn't feel uncomfortable. I'd have bought it in a heartbeat but the price they wanted (£800 )was too much for the condition it was in as it was full of buckle rash and playing marks. 😢
  11. So am I right in thinking that if I'm selling an item for £100 the buyer will be charged £104 but I'll still get the £100 ? As a buyer I think I'd still rather pay the fee than have no protection buying off FB marketplace etc.
  12. Before committing to the gear abstinence challenge yesterday I thought I'd have one last look at Ebay locally( I'm deluding myself). A seller who I'd bought from many times had a Sterling Ray2 listed at a good price and I knew I could knock him down a bit more with not having to post it. He duly dropped it off in the afternoon. It was in its original box and still had the plastic protection on the machine heads and pickguard so in immaculate condition. I ordered a £10 pearl pickguard off amazon which I put on this morning (the screw holes lined up perfectly). I've played it all morning and the thing is phenomenal. Fit and finish are perfect, frets level with no edges. Passive Stingray not for everybody but it sounds great with loads of compression, chorus or Darkglass loveliness. Amazing thing for full price but at less than £200 a no brainer.
  13. Just to update -the amp actually arrived today. So Christmas is saved 😄. All the drama could have been avoided if customer services had just told me that yesterday - it actually ended up a really good deal and it's a cracking little amp. "All we need is just a little patience !"
  14. Well I ordered a Zoom M60B+ from Amazon this morning and its being delivered today !
  15. I bought a strat off here and it was fret buzzy when I picked it up. I was going to get a set up done on it but the luthier said there was no adjustment left on the truss rod and I ended up having to have the neck steamed to straighten it - cost a lot more than a set up. Only time I'd ever been asked to sign a receipt to say I'd checked the guitar and there was nothing wrong with it. It opened my eyes to how careful you need to be when buying a used instrument. Hopefully karma paid the seller a visit.
  16. It's frustrating when all you need is honesty - surely that would be a better business model. The price I paid was a good one and I was really pleased when I placed the order. Now they have tarnished it and like you I wouldn't use them again and our posts may stop others who might have used them in future. Seems a crazy way to operate in a competitive market,
  17. What a steal ! I've got the C4 Silver Mountain bass and the Fishman Fluence pickups and electronics in it are probably the best I've had in any bass.
  18. I just wanted them to do what they said. They are still listing the in stock black PJB as will be delivered on Monday so it isn't a stock or reporting error, it's deception. If they had said it would be several business days before dispatch (as they do on other items) I would have just bought the amp from GAK or another UK seller. I kicked off the claim early knowing it will take some time to resolve. If the amp arrives before xmas I will cancel the claim but I'm not optimistic having spoken to them. If it ends well I won't leave the 1* review they currently deserve.
  19. I ordered a PJB Double 4 on Tuesday which was in stock and the website said it would be delivered today. Order also confirmed today as delivery date. Checked tracking today and status says advised. Finally managed to talk to somebody who said the item is still in their warehouse in The Netherlands . Fuming ! - unlikely to get it before Christmas now and completely misled by the co.uk website and UK contact address on the site. Would I also have to pay duty as its coming from Europe ? Initiated a Paypal claim as looking at Trustpilot they seem to be dreadful. If only I'd done that before ordering.
  20. Similar experience - I'd bought at American professional strat for £1000+ at the time which I was really pleased with then a Squier came up locally on ebay for £40 - I bought it as an upgrade project but tonally it just sounded much better than the Fender as it was - cleaned up it was almost mint despite being quite an old one. I do love my Squiers.
  21. I spent a few hours noodling in a premium guitar shop on Saturday as it was really quiet and I could just pull things of the hangars and try them at will. The thing that struck me the most was what poor quality some of the new gear was - I was trying Fender's with bent pots grating on the pickguard, guitars with virtually unplayable actions and crackling pots and generally the quality of the instrument in no way reflected the price. The dearest thing I played was a Maybach da vinci bass at £3300 - it looked nice - similar to an orchestral instrument and was custom shop - but the Vintage brand jazz I bought off ebay for £200 was actually set up better. I was expecting to be blown away by it but that just didn't happen - I left empty handed and disappointed. Maybe I'm just not a good enough player to realise the tonal nuances of the instruments , maybe we are just being ripped off or the premium we pay for big name brands is just a guarantee of gettting a reasonable resale price which certainly doesn't happen on the customs.
  22. I picked up a lovely used Fender Elite strat over the weekend which was immaculate apart from one blemish which i didn't spot till I'd got home.( don't think it would have been a deal breaker.) Anyway it's a bit of a strange one as it seems to be beneath the clear coat which feels perfectly smooth : Is there anything I could use to disguise it ? It's not a big enough deal to sand it out etc.
  23. I traded a brand new Fender SRV strat + £200 for a Primal Artist when they first came out - worst deal I've ever done. I've tried to sell it on numerous occasions at a vastly reduced price but never get any takes. Its a lovely looking bass but has the worst shielding of any instrument I've ever known. Certainly has the EMG's in this one.The inlays remind me of prawns !
  24. I have been buying basses and guitars recently just because I like the colour / woods - it is truly ridiculous . I bought a Zoom R12 multitrack this week only to find an equivalent Tascam in my guitar 'Pandoras box' that I'd forgotten I had ). And now there is an Antigua Telecaster locally on FB marketplace that is calling to me....
  25. Best - Retrovibe L'il Richard bass( FB Marketplace but a basschatter) Worst - Donner Octave pedal from Amazon.
