1. I had the pleasure of meeting Andy last night - he's still got it
2. I need to make some room, and I don't use this at all now. It's obvious someone has removed the covering and name plate from the front. The back panel is non original and there's been a clumsy speaker XLR out added by a previous owner. I've had it checked out by Steve at http://www.stevesamps.co.uk/wp/ who says as far as he can tell the amp section is completely original (although the valves will have been replaced at some time.) It's in full working order, but there's a little hiss which Steve thinks can be fixed by swapping out the caps. It's still got the old Bulgin socket which will have to be changed to an IEC for safety. The build sticker says 15/04/1970 and the serial number SB/A/5988A. Due to it's condition it's very hard to price, but I'd take £500 for it

6. What's the neck width like on these compared to a traditional Fender P?
7. It seems there's a healthy market for this sort of thing? Perhaps an excellent intro before investing a lot of dosh in an original?
8. Both good choices. IMHO you will play a £100 bass that is really comfortable in your hands better than a £1000 bass that doesn't feel quite right.
9. Morning all, I'm fancying a new toy this morning. So up for trade or sale I put my only bass, my Warwick Thumb 5 string BO with the Broadneck and soapbar options. Previously owned by our very own Clarky, this bass is in beautiful condition. It's an easy 9/10 on condition, it has been very well looked after and I have enjoyed it immensely but I fancy a slap machine as I've been listening to a lot of Stuart Hamm lately. Yes, my bandmates, sound engineer and producer will no doubt lament me moving on the Warwick but I fancy a change. I may be able to source a hardcase to post it, if you so wish. Trade wise I'm not sure what I'm after, so I would be open to offers but ideally I'd like something quite bright and slappy. For sale, I'd like £900 so trades of about that value (I can add some cash for the right bass). I look forward to hearing from you! Chris
10.
Another bit of happy irony is that I expect a fair few people are trying to sell their fakers to put the money towards a real deal Ric. They won't be able to buy one now. Nice own goal.
I'm sure JH and his legal team will have thought their way out if that particular paper bag.
11.
Changing your signature is futile - the robots indexing the sites are not logged in when they do so. You have to be logged in for the signatures to be visible...
The ''forum glitch" in the settings that was preventing web bots from seeing signatures seems to have un-glitched itself.
12. The documentation is here - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/173238-notice-for-owners-of-rickenbacker-copies/page__view__findpost__p__1611094
13. If we decide to allow Rickenbacker content, it might be wise to mark every for sale thread title along this kind of template: For Sale: Fender Jazz Bass (NOT A RICKENBACKER COPY) That way we are making our position very clear - and any Google search on our website would show that we are not selling a RICKENBACKER COPY and there would not be any confusion or waste of time by anyone.
14. There is a difference between a 'registered design', 'copyright' and 'patent.' JH has registered the designs in the EU, and we are under EU legislation which generally makes it illegal to copy, reproduce etc or expose for sale or hire. I therefore cannot see how the registered design is infringed upon if photographs are displayed in a context where they are not being exposed for sale or hire. It may be much easier to make Basschat a totally 'Rickenbacker Free Zone' so the admins don't get any more bullish emails and live under constant threat of legal action.
15. Please all note the further registered design we have just been notified about. This means that we cannot allow ANY photographs of Rickenbacker copies in for sale/trade adverts.
16. That should be working? Try navigating from your profile page and look at posts/topics under the 'overview'
17. Hi It's just another thing we're saving up to fix I'm afraid! Sorry
18. Nice one! - You'd better get all your old bass tabs out and start practising!
19. You have a for sale ad in the marketplace - which is the correct forum. This is not the correct forum.
20. Great with a keyboard - but I could never quite crack the Tom Petty drawling harmony line!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UD0c58nNCQ
21.
Basschat is attracting some interesting people these days.
Interesting, or mentally disturbed? - http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__2024066
22. Hi Hadge - what browser are you using? - It seems to be visible. If you can't see it try refreshing /clearing your cache
23. Ummmm - lots to think about. Do you use a fixed program or sound to light or do you tailor each program to particular songs?
24. It's not so much a matter as 'coming clean' - it's a matter of finding any evidence of a data compromise. The fact that the site got hacked was publicised a couple of months ago. There did not appear to be any compromise of data. We still can't find any evidence that data was taken from here, but it seems inevitable that some data was taken - through no fault of our own. I haven't had any spam of the kind mentioned here, but my work e-mail address (which I only use internally) has been spammed with those mails, and that's on a .gsi network. On the other thread there was a suggestion that Basschat was sending out spam emails - that's utter nonsense and the reason it was locked. There are just some very clever and malicious people out there that can hack into the FBI, the CIA and other very very secure Government websites. Basschat, and any other forum is no different.
