1. I had a bit of a shock one night. I was playing during a performance of Elgar's Sea Pictures at a concert hall in Bermuda when the man playing the triangle suddenly disappeared. He was the third one that week.
2.
So that's two counts of Blue Aran staff not having the first clue about bass cabinets then.
So that's one count of an unnecessarily aggressive/rude post then? I'm pretty sure this could have been better worded. Thanks.
3. Bearing in mind that none of us are professional rule writers we do the best we can and with best intentions. Sometimes a situation like this occurs where a practice develops which breaks the rules, but seems entirely reasonable - posting a link to an item you have advertised on the website within the guidelines within a signature. It seems common sense to adjust the rule - which I'll do now Thanks for raising awareness of the issue!
4. I was a little premature - but it deffo is fixed now
5. Solved - a tick in a box on an obscure page!
6. Got your pm. I'm at work ATM. Will look into it later. Probably just a profile error when I set it up.
7. As everyone can now see, we have recruited some new members onto the Moderating team on Basschat. Whilst they settle into their new role please extend to them a warm welcome, and a warm 'thank you' for what is generally a thankless task. You can see who is moderating where by using this link: - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=stats&do=leaders Enquiries about the forum should be directed to the assigned Forum Moderator, who will pass the enquiry on to the section Global Moderator if they cannot answer or action it themselves. Please make the Forum Moderators your first 'port of call' within their areas of responsibility. Thanks everyone for making this such a good place to chill! Colin
8.
Did anyone grab any snaps of the cabs from the bass bash? Mr Foxen, That sounds mental! Brilliant!!
I was too busy at the show to take snaps, but I did get these of the pre-production/unfinished Big Twin 2: I think you can daisy chain them - if you have enough Uranium!!

10. After Alex's new Big Twin 2 was given some beans, I had some explaining to do to the headmaster! Spot the similarity - There's one of these hidden in the top of the new Big Twin - Alex calls it a 'Waveguide Compression Driver' - He's not kidding me!, I knew he was a Martian! Something that fell into my shopping trolley - I had some hesitation about this - a definite 'Marmite' bass, but it fits me like a glove (due to ample tummy cut!) and is wonderfully light and balanced with a lovely neck. It sounds EPIC through the Big Twin 2

Thanks!

We really appreciated your support Joel - many thanks again!
12. I'd give serious consideration to Lindy Fralin's pickups - http://www.fralinpickups.com/bass.asp Never heard a set I didn't like.
13. Interesting preamp/DI from Dave Swift -
14. Hi James Steel grill - keeps my clumsy feet from kicking the cones in!
15.
Any Ideas where the money will go, or is it up for suggestions?
We've a rough idea of where it's going (split 4 ways) but the final beneficiaries are TBC
16. Having arrived home and had the traditional Saturday night curry (washed down with some MUCH needed Old Rosie) I can now do a brief update. First of all, apologies. Nik and I were quite overwhelmed with the sheer number of people who turned up. Yes, we could have been prepared because we had a rough headcount beforehand, but it was hard to prepare for the sheer effervescence of everyone who turned up and needed looking after/pointing in the right direction/information etc etc in one way or another. It was certainly a learning curve with what turned out to be the biggest and best Bash I've ever been to! What that boiled down to was a cock-up in getting the tombola up and running, and so it wan't run. With great thanks to those who generously donated prizes to it, and at the same time apologies for cocking it up. Have no fear, everything will be saved for the next South East Bass Bash! I really enjoyed the excellent workshops/chats which were very ably run by some great guys: Bryn (UrbanKarma) who presented in public for the first time (as I understand - UK premier??) the new Markbass MultiAmp - http://www.markbass....tail.php?id=238 I use MarkBass myself and it really is excellent quality gear. Kris Kedzior who showed and talked about his own range of lightweight and easy to transport 'Baby Basses' - http://baby-bass.com/ Such a talented and humble guy! We were delighted to welcome Dave Swift - http://www.daveswiftbass.com/ and Paul Geary - http://www.paulgeary.com/ who gave an excellent and very down-to-earth talk about their careers and the ever changing world of the professional gigging bassist. Cracking down to earth chaps and a real pleasure to meet both of them. We also welcomed Joel McIver - the current editor of Bass Guitar Magazine - http://www.bassguitarmagazine.com/ who has been described as "probably the top [rock] scribe in the world" due to his prolific and respected writing - http://www.joelmciver.co.uk/site.html Another top down-to earth chap who talked about his writing career and editorship. Clarky gave a really quite good intro into making the transition onto double bass, and Urb spoke in his workshop about beginners to advanced technique - and if you've heard him play he's quite advanced! Huge thanks must also go to Fender - http://www.fender.com/en-GB/ who very generously supported our very 'grass roots' event by donating a brand new Fender Vintage Modified Jaguar Bass as our main raffle prize. We also received some nice donations to the table from our friends at Bass Gear - http://www.bassgear.co.uk/ Alex Claber was also at hand and launched (another world premier!) his latest range of stunning bass cabinets by bringing pre-production samples for all to abuse and wonder at! - http://www.barefacedbass.com/ The biggest thanks must go to all who once again came and supported the event - it really is a non-event unless you come! Thanks to all those who donated to the raffle/tombola table and gave their time and energy to the day - Silverfoxnik - Happy Jack - OBBM - Bluejay and to my ever supporting ("why are you bringing back more than you took?") soulmate Sarah The end result is that we have raised over £1000 for charity!! I've yet to come to a final figure because I left the refreshment proceeds by the sink - Doh! I'll give a final grand total tomorrow. Cheers all for a great day!! Colin
17.
We can't leave the cats and chickens for that long.
Put them in different sheds then!
18. Many thanks to Dave Swift who will be bringing a few nice items for the raffle table!
19. As my hands/fingers are knackered after years of Karate abuse - I use a pick when the song is too fast (for me) to play fingerstyle or when I can't feel my fingers anymore. I'm happy with that
20.
Hoping to have a play through a BF cab....
You will!
21.
Buggeration! too far away & I'm not going to the Bash !!
I'd have a wobble out as far as Banbury - sort of half-way to close the deal
