1. never played a Sandberg but I love my Euro 5. it's poles apart in character from my SR5,and the B is really excellent on the Spector. I just got the Godlyke Disciple 5 off Eubassix and that sits somewhere between the two, more mids/growl than the Spector and more hi-fi than the MM. I was going to have another crack at a Bongo and had a 5string Hum/Single in mind but went for this instead and I'm glad I did. The Disciple has an 18v pre amp like the Bongo and more room between the J and the end of the f/board. but I guess availability could be an issue with them even if you wanted to have a look. these are a couple of David's pics
2. welcome (to GAS), the more Scots on here the merrier...means we may see a basschat mini-bash or the like up here sometime in the future all the best Keir
3. + somewhere in the region of £180 duty/vat/import clearance fee lovin' the california sunset burst on these

6. for sale is my ART coolswitch a/b/y box solid metal construction. sorry no box or instructions but in excellent condition and will be well packed £15 + £2 postage recorded delivery cheers Keir
7. nice playing Chris and Matt, lovin the tones off the G&Ls as well. I noticed with the L2K MFDs/electronics slightly rolling off volume and tone and where you place your right hand affects the sound more than I generally experience with other basses. and for me they sound bigger on the same amp settings than a Ray or Sterling in a band context. playing in an INXS tribute band last year I had my Sterling almost drop out the mix when all the band was running full tilt. so I plugged the Asat back in and the sound was there again. the sterling is a great bass but the G&Ls are a great band bass. they really come into their own in a loud band will need to get some clips of my Asat,SB-2 and pure mid range honk of the L1500 up sometime soon Keir
8. Kev, it cost £600 with G&L hard case from BB2000 on these boards.its minted, very light with teriffic sustain and bags of wood, thump and growl in the tone. well worth every penny whole neck is like that ^^^ Keir
9. Jamie at Hartnoll guitars 01752-255121 was very helpful back in February when I was looking for a JB-2 bass. I was after a Tribute one as I didnt think I'd get the USA version but he offered me a brand new butterscotch blonde Fullerton JB-2 at a really good price. I couldnt take it though as I'd just bought stingrayfan's L-1500. might be worth giving him a call and seeing what he can do for you
10. I've owned higher end and more versatile but biggest bond is with my G&L SB-2 with birdseye maple /ebony neck. If they all went I'd keep this its pure plug in and play
11.
This is mine, sitting on fellow BC'er Dub Junkie's stairs before I virtually stole it from him... Musicman Axis Super Sport. It's a great guitar to play, everything about it is right. It's cured most of my GAS for skinny six-stringers, but I can't help but think I might need another one identical to it in case I break a string on stage.
David, ooh I miss that one! I should never have let it go but then again it did allow me to buy my '94 Albert Lee which is my favourite 6 stringer ever Keir
12. ok,been badly let down on this by a prospective buyer and I need the cash for a rather whopping repair bill on my car highly figured flame top with birdseye neck. comes with deep lid MM case which means the trem arm can stay on the guitar in the case. has a little fret wear and neck is a li'l bit grubby as they all do otherwise a beautiful lookin, playing and sounding instrument at a bargain price will include next day courier FOC if you dont want it,tell your guitarist! cheers Keir
13. Mart, I pretty much always use an automotive cleaner these days. (well one of the jobs I have is at a car garage) I couldnt stand most guitar polishes D'eandrea and others whose names escape me so long since I used any of them. the one I use now is a trade one Autoglaze finishing glaze but Wynns, auto glym etc all do similiar. its a cream white one not liquid and doesnt leave a residue on the instrument and will bring up a shine much better than any of the over the counter guitar polishes. heres the SR5 I got a few days ago. it was a bit dull looking when I first got it - one application of autoglaze and voila! check the sheen! and I've been using these products for the last 4 years without any probs - same stuff goes on showroom Lambos, mercs and beemers hope this helps Keir
14. thanks guys
Nice - you're building up quite a collection there. You'll be able to open a shop soon!
some juggling to be done so the herd may thin a little (but I hope not too much).deal already done on one of my Spectors for another lovely 5 with another basschatter.hopefully the CAR sterling will become something else too
nice mate, qulaity stuff there. How are you finding the SR5?
Lovin the SR5 .not as edgy as the Sterlings - . I did have a trans teal/rosewood SR5 a long time ago which was my no1 bass for about 5 years, always knew I'd have another.
SR5 is beautiful, absolutely my favorite colour for a bass and dead, dead rare. I'd love a Fender Jazz and matching Precision in Burgandy Mist, pre CBS, just like John Entwhistle used to have but finding them in left hand would be impossible. The three MM's together look sexy.
in total agreeament on the colour, burgandy mist is an all time favourite of mine too,I used to own a 60's reissue Strat in the same. Pearl Lavender is a rare colour on any MM bass and I dont think I've ever seen another 5 like it on the ebmm boards ever. Its actually more subdued than my photos suggest. in person it's very close to richardd's fender CS jazz going by his pics
Wow that SR5 is stunning. Congrats.
sure is and I've got a rather super ebmm moonstone pickguard to go on it this week sometime ... I missed out on the Vigier Excess btw (bill for a car repairs saw to that ) winning bidder got it for 400 big ones lucky blighter! cheers Keir
15. My new to me Stingray 5. colour is pearl lavender and was discontinued in '02 or so the same as the white sparkle finish on my Sterling. The candy apple red Sterling may not be with me much longer so took the opportunity to get a shot of the three together close up of the white sparkle with an abalone plate I picked up just today cheers Keir
16. I had both my solid body Asat and a hollow body version at the same time for a few months last year. not too much difference acoustically funny enough but definetely so plugged in. the hollow body had a bigger, rounder more open and bloomy tone than the solid body which sounded compressed in comparison. I gigged that hollow body a dozen times last year and it sounded as big as the Bongo I had but much more woody. unfortunately, tonyf on here had a Spector 5 up for trade last October and I had to have it so the hollow body went. He'll tell you they're great basses and flat out cool I'm sure edit: oops forgot seller - yours is a beauty! edit 2 : and this one looks like it has the gun oil tint neck upcharge - sweet
17. Jimmy Egypt repair shop at Sound Control,Jamaica St. I cant praise his work highly enough. he's set up 2 of my 6 stringers and also refretted an MM Silhouette and fret stoned an Axis for me. his work was first class without a 3 week wait like at Moons. Jimmy Egypt used to be in the guitar building game too, years ago he and a business partner made guitars under the Karnak brand name. Jimmy Moons work is top notch too. I know the guitarist who owns the first electric he made,Moon 001 a black Explorer type.
18. not surprised it sold so quick - at that price it went for the same as one of David's regular stock ones.

20. thanks all, as much as I love it my enthusiasm has been curbed by the probable cost shame

22. I used to own a trans teal 2 band Ray which I fitted a Status MM neck on. I picked up the neck(no tuners) for £150 on ebay. it was one of the earlier ones with the truss rod adjuster behind a flush plate on the fingerboard at somewhere around the 18th fret. the later ones have a adjustment at the neck end. I also had to drill the fixing holes for the MM tuners at my stepdad's workshop.(the neck originally had been drilled for hipshot ultralites iirc) once it was on the bass it was fantastic. the action was scary low.no dead spots or rattles or buzzes or change of anything from day to day. the tone was snappier, harder and had more focus and clarity if a little clinical sounding and lacking warmth, but suited the 2EQ Ray really well I put 35-90s on the bass for a while and it was insanely easy to play. great slap sounding bass. sold it when i got a huge MOT bill in but have missed it now long time, Its definetely something I'd want again
23. I love my SB-2. and that is indeed a cracking price
24. Oh fcukin 'ell, I'd love this!. damn too much G&L spendage of late
25. I did think there were some strange things going on with the options John, but whatever this bass is, its succulent. How much do you reckon ball park? Keir
